it might be a bit late for this, but if you get the whole chasm in the embark map, right in the cavern off the first turn from where it splits off, there is another GCS, along with a few Ratmen

It's surprising to see that this site has been popular for as long as it has been. Keep on trucking to half a year old, dwarf heaven.

As soon as I loaded the map up, a GCS ambushed and one-shotted a cougar.

I finally tried this site today, and that must be where I embarked. A ratman and a GCS instantly appeared and cut a bloody swath through all seven of my dwarfs and their animals. "Heaven." Bah! :)

Well that's what you get for embarking on the chasm! Select the grassy area next time.

I tamed my GCS.

It's not surprising, but it's a little bit disappointing that when I let it out of its cage, it just sort of milled around in the dining room with all the other animals. I imagined Shelob trouncing around and playing with my dozens of puppies and cow calves... all at once. <_<'

So, I can just shave the top bit off and be fine, right? Because, you know, it seems all the interesting things are lower down, and eliminating six tiles from the map makes it run faster.

ok, i've tried to collect as much data as i can on this setup, but still have questions or tweaks.

1 - just copy and paste the the stuff linked back on 1st post? what if i want more evil and/or terrifying? i mean, i want more scary stuff i guess, i've never had any.

2 - i want megabeasts. never had em. any way to ramp em up in the worldgen data?

3 - i use mayday for the tileset and economic stone, will this affect my worldgen?

i am going to edit the raws on goblins, make them stronger and [nofear], prolly also bump up their baby-making. i know, you all use orcs, but i dont want to add them, i'd rather just beef up the goblins and make them non-scared for arena. but... if i was looking to add orcs, where's the mod at?

thanx in advance for all ideas and answers!

Yea, it should generate a similar world. Unfortunately you can't tweak any of the settings to increase the savagery of the area without causing the regions to change.
2 - i want megabeasts. never had em. any way to ramp em up in the worldgen data?
You can increase their size immensely in the raws, and then set it back to normal after worldgen, or you can set worldgen to end early.
3 - i use mayday for the tileset and economic stone, will this affect my worldgen?
Tilesets don't affect world gen, I don't know if economic stone will.

Here's the Orc Mod link. As for modding the goblins, you might try the Intimidating Goblins from A Better Goblin Mod. They are stronger than vanilla goblins, but still manageable. Don't go any higher than intimidating though, as a single terrifying goblin ambush can wipe your fortress (they can mow through individual steel armed dwarves with ease). If you don't want to mess with mods, easiest way to increase how much damage they do is by increasing size a little, damblock for survivability.

GCS is tearing through migrants, caravans, everything.
It now has a name and title: Hoaryfinds The Full Utterance.
I want to trap it but it won't come near the traps, and I don't want to get closer or it might take out my trapper!

EDIT: Finally killed it with a Marksdwarf, he got a big fancy tomb for it too!
