I managed to get two Pan runes in a row. I nearly got killed stealing the rune from Cerebov. Now, I banished myself to get the 8th rune. The abyss is very boring, when you're hiding in a corner for 10,000 turns.  :P

I've thought a couple times about the possibility of getting banished to the abyss as a high level paladin.  I did it in wizard mode one time, summoning a friendly angel and tearing it up holy wrath style, burning through those undead and demons like no tomorrow.  Ended up getting some pretty wicked piety boosts with Ol' Shiny too.

As a Spriggan Artificer with a rod of striking, I approve of lava islands filled with no ranged attack demons.

How about a pool of deep water with that unique orc on it?  Damn near killed me.

WOO DEWi (fire) is doing pretty good.  Level 4, DL 3.

I met some deep elves in the main dungeon, and one of them had a +1 elven buckler of protection, giving me even more defensive capabilities. My aptitude for using it is just abysmal, of course, so I guess I should put some thought into victory dancing shields. Get some experience, find a weak enemy and let it hit me for a while?

Currently cleaning up Orc to replenish my gold reserves after spellbook purchases. You never know when you find something nice. Apart from a few orc knights, everything has been trivial so far.

I'm having an utterly horrible time with imps. Taking out a spriggan Artificer, and I just can't drop an imp. Even worse when there are three of them and an ice beast plus ogre.

Death yaks are brutal.

Death Yaks are trivial if you know Sticky Flame and they can't kill you in one hit.

Okay, Death yaks are brutal for non-sticky-flame casters. Happy?

And I think that is more a statement to how broken sticky flame is.

I love Nemelex now. Just got my Spriggan Artificer to his alter, and first sacrifice netted me a legendary deck of destruction. Nicely one shot the Wight that was following me.

The thing with imps is that their random teleportation often lands them far away from you, and it's really easy to run away from them. Well, with spriggan movement speed, you can run away from absolutely everything. Just ignore them and come back to slay them later.

I found a portal to a treasure trove in elf:2. Should I take it? Nemelex has been generous indeed, and I have several legendary decks of summoning.

Speaking of... my mountain dwarf fighter has found the book of annihilation, the high level demon book, AND the necronomicon. wtf... I don't even HAVE spellcasting.

Well, duh.  Do you think you'd find any of those if you did?  Xom does not pander to the confines of usefulness.

Of course. I feel like this any time I play anything but a spellcaster.
STOP SHOWING UP SPELLBOOKS! SHOW UP ONE GAME LATER.

Aye, I can run from anything. Still, would be nice to be able to kill the suckers.

Edit: Ugh, first book found, high end translocations. Of the warp. Lovely. Couldn't be party tricks, no, that would be useful.

Troves have no monster gen. It's just items, most of them acquirement level (AKA, really fucking good)

I believe both Sticky Flame and Mephitic Cloud have been nerfed for 0.7. High-HD monsters are better able to resist Mephitic Cloud, and Sticky Flame's been bumped up in miscast severity. There might be more nerfs, I don't feel like looking, but I do know both of these are true.

Does Sticky Flame cause more damage than Conjure Flame? Because the one that killed me was standing in a flame cloud and took one magma bolt and two shots from wand of draining, and took three hits to kill me. When I died, it was maybe at 1/3 health.

But... Mephitic Cloud and Sticky Flame were my only two ways of dealing with Death Yaks!  Especially with all the deep water that seems to gen in lower Lair levels...

At the kinds of power I throw at them, a single Sticky Flame does about half of a Death Yak's health once it wears off on its own.
