I almost forgot how horrible the abyss was. Do the devs serious think it's fun to run around 10k turns, while waiting for the rune to appear? Anyway, I tried Arena mode for the first time. It was awesome. Apparently, Cerebov can easily kill 99 Sigmunds, but loses to the Royal Jelly if he doesn't summon help fast enough. :D

I found a portal to a treasure trove in elf:2. Should I take it?

Yes!

Troves have no monster gen. It's just items, most of them acquirement level (AKA, really fucking good)

I believe both Sticky Flame and Mephitic Cloud have been nerfed for 0.7. High-HD monsters are better able to resist Mephitic Cloud, and Sticky Flame's been bumped up in miscast severity. There might be more nerfs, I don't feel like looking, but I do know both of these are true.

I heard that a few troves are dangerous, but as you said it's basically an acquirement level. The Mephitic Cloud nerf doesn't sound too bad, considering it worked on high level monsters, such as Titans and Yaktaur captains.

Does Sticky Flame cause more damage than Conjure Flame?

Yeah. Of course, you can use both Conjure Flame and Sticky Flame to incinerate monsters faster.

But... Mephitic Cloud and Sticky Flame were my only two ways of dealing with Death Yaks!  Especially with all the deep water that seems to gen in lower Lair levels...

Use wands or abuse staircases to deal with them. Unfortunately, Death yaks and hydras are no longer the toughest monsters that can appear in the Lair. I guess the Lair may not be the easiest branch anymore.

I piddled around for too long and the trove expired. :( Well, I'll be quicker with it next time.

Cleared vault:8, and yes, there were elephants. Dire elephants, even. Not sure how hard they would have been without the legendary decks of summoning, but as it was, the high-class demons made short work of them.

D:5. The first time I've met humans (besides the Kiku altar.)

And there are lots of them. Ahhh!

Human slaves means Pikel is on the level. Pikel is a big kobold with a nasty whip. Once he's dead, all the slaves turn neutral, probably because killing Pikel is enough to gain a level or two, easy.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

At the level my character is when i meet Pikel, those human slaves are extremely dangerous in hand to hand combat.

Unless you have a character with wands and/or some good magic, a fighter kind of character is in for a lot of trouble if he tries to run into those human slaves without getting some more levels first.

I saw a screen shot of someone's Lair:8 in 0.7. There seems to be a pack of elephants in a vault. They come in three flavors: Elephant (slightly tougher than a yak), dire elephant (tougher than a death yak), and hellephant (much scarier than a dragon).

I do believe I saw somewhere that the elephants were in reference to a certain murderous boat.

...why is Jivya's altar so evil.

What is their pennance? I'm tempted to join them just so those stupid jellies go away :(

Jivya's penance is bad mutations and hostile jellies.
