Right, so watching Super Best Friend podcasts on youtube has got me thinking about Berserk again. Last I left it, the gang
and I stopped cause there weren't really any new chapters other than minor fighting and some comedy filler.
Imagine my surprise upon seeing like at least 5 new chapters, I skip over to the last one. A rundown:
They meet the female-looking king of elves, Guts asks her(?) if Casca's mind can be repaired.
"Yup. Give me a bit of time and I can do it."
It's at this point that I started getting chills up my spine cause I'd just listened to podcast stuff saying how the only possible outcome for Casca would be that its impossible for her to get her sanity back, or the elf would promise to help, and then do something deceitful. I'm genuinely frightened as I'm clicking through the pages, wondering what the hell's going to happen, as Farnese and Schierke go INTO Casca's dreamscape, to help the elf person.
First, it's Schierke's dream setting, a bizarre purely comedy one where she meets a monkey Isidro analogue who taunts her about her secret desires ( probably her crush on Guts unless I've missed something in the chapters I skipped over ). Schierke remembers her mission and heads to Farnese's dream, which is equally light-hearted, and shows Farnese washing the clothes of her companions, including Gut's Berserker Armour. Schierke grabs her, they go into Casca's dream.
...Aaaand it's a crayon looking drawing, with Schierke and Farnese realising they look like how a child would see things. It's surprisingly cheerful and cute, and so the two witches go to delve deeper into Casca's subconscious.
The last page of the chapter is just a cover for the next chapter. A black cloudy background, a bit of light, covered by a darkened sun. It's Casca's memories of the fucking Eclipse.
I have never been this nervous of what's going to happen next in a manga. Literal decades in the making, we're getting a resolution to this, one way or another.
