Psycho Pass avoided tropes like moe and sexualization of the main character to appeal to women more, the first season is pretty good. I'm not sure if there are any other anime that deliberately set out to avoid pandering tropes like that.

They never really did anything with it, but one of the main characters is a somewhat plain-looking girl surrounded by cute but troubled guys she outranks. That feels less like "avoiding pandering tropes" and more like "avoiding pandering too hard to any one potential audience for fear of alienating the others," which pretty much everything does.

Well I know I've seen numerous animes where people fall asleep in class because of overwork. See the Asleep in Class trope. It's common in anime that characters pass out in class due to big nights or all-nighters.

Ok here is a trend that is quite interesting.

Anime characters often don't need sleep.

Like they heard of the concept of sleep, but it is entirely optional.

I don't think I've seen a main character do an all-nighter and then pay for it the next day... even in a "It is holding me back, but I'll succeed anyway" sort of deal.

HECK Naruto has Gara whose level of sleep would mean he'd be dead outright (he would slip into a coma and die)

Gakkou Gurashi(manga) is the only one I've seen recently.  With the consequence being mindbreak-http://www.gomymanga.com/manga/Gakkou_Gurashi/28/8.  One main character doesn't sleep(anymore) but that's because

the medicine doesn't work 100% and she's slowly becoming more zombie-like, to the point she doesn't feel pain anymore.

Actually, if we're gonna include manga, you can check out "Long Dream" by Junji Ito for an example of a character sleeping, and another character not sleeping at all. It's another one of those lighthearted and fun shorts that Junji is known for.

I watched the first episode of School Live.

Not even going past the first episode. Something about it just... Disturbed me. I hear it's alright, but seriously, that's.. Creepy. Really interesting, but spooky for me-Never dealt well with undead in anime for some reason. Hellsing I got through it because FUCK YEAH ALUCARD

Eeehhh, depends on the undead. Standard zombie stuff I'm not terribly fond of, either, but anime zombie stuff is at times... distinctly non-standard. Sometimes in a good way, sometimes not, oft times lewd to varying degrees.

And other undead... well, normally it's vampires, and not really the alucard teeth everywhere I-hope-you-didn't-need-that-flesh vampires. It's the vampires that generate fairly copious amounts of porn and only occasionally involve blood, particularly any consumed blood.

... though sometimes said vampires don't even have the decency to be undead but we'll just ignore that and consider the other side of those love interests to be raging necrophiliacs regardless.

E: Speaking of which, I think it's time to start re-reading Jitsu Wa. Amusingly enough, I had forgotten the name and found it again with the google search "vampire manga idiots" sans quote. Wasn't the first result but it was on the first page :V
