This is a cobaltite stature of Mafol Filllanterns.  All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality.
The item is a masterfully designed image of Mafol Filllanterns the dwarf and a prepared meal in cobaltite by Kogan Rithistbar.  Mafol Filllanterns is raising the prepared meal.  This artwork relates to the masterful prepared meal created by the dwarf Mafol Filllanters for the Swift Stockade at Lock the Door in midwinter of 222.
It is encrusted with native aluminum and encircled with bands of cobaltite.

So I'm picturing a blue stone statue with encircling white-ish stripes.

It's of a male dwarf with his arms raised over his head.  Hes' wearing leather trousers, a cloth dress, a leather robe, a wool cloak, a silk cap, a leather hood, thick wool gloves, mittens, and socks, and silk shoes.

In between his hands he holds a solidly congealed mass of horse brains, yak intestine, pig cheese, and wheat flour that have all been minced into an unrecognizable paste.  There is no plate.  There was no fire.  This meatball is what the dwarves consider a meal and this is, in their opinion, one damn fine example.

I got a High Master Cook in an early immigrant wave.  I'm not sure which prepared meal this is actually about, but I bet it involves horse brains.

i acctually had this one in the corrosion fort:

the "Freeman", an iron crowbar.

this is an iron crowbar. all craftsmanship is of the highest quality.

and that's it.

edit.: changed it, had to check the game again.
Pretty sure that's a lie, since artifacts get a decoration made of the same material as their base.

My favourite so far was made by the cavern hermit in my current fort. That's the dwarf assigned to dig the well btw. I had dropped an axe down so she could make a bed and she had just cut down a couple of mushrooms but then she made:

Quote
Romekorshar Enkos Zokun, "Longwebbed the Taker of Sieging", a schist bed

This is a schist bed. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. This object menaces with spikes of schist.

Now I've had more valuable and more useful artifacts but I like the way this one happened. It's like living alone amongst the cave crocodiles wasn't enough. "I don't need some poncy wooden bed! I'll have one made of rock. With !!Spikes!!" The name is perfect too. Her home is infested with cave spiders and she keeps having to lock herself inside when the crocodiles come to visit.

Whenever dwarves get into melee, their first reaction is to place their baby on their head, to allow free use of both hands, and thus any headshot instead strikes the child.

This is an amazing coincidence... or is the game scripted to this regard?
Any screenshots?

Naked dwarves remove the need to produce more clothing, which means more of your pig tails can be brewed into booze.
I think this is less a problem and more an expression of dwarven priorities.

Just got a new artifact: a goblet called Churchenjoyed, engraved with a worship scene. First thought: "................God?"

So I embarked on a site which assured me it had a profusion of metals.  Yeah, galena.

So I have a lot of lead hanging around in bins when the RNG decides to improve the odds by giving me a fey weaponsmith.

He takes a single bar of lead and creates Togalallas, a lead warhammer.  Sounds nice, although plenty of people will tell you why lead is a bad material for a warhammer.  But it should at least be heavy!

Still, I decide that the honour of carrying this thing goes to the Captain of the Guard.  It turns out that being an artifact makes it pretty awesome in combat.  The CotG has now racked up five personal kills with it, and it's starting to build itself a nice little legend.

So, not the fanciest, or most adorned, but definitely my best because of the new tracking for weapons giving it such a great history.

In a fat-fingered moment while setting up another military squad I accidentally created a captain of the guard rather than a militia captain.  His squad of near-legendary hammerdwarves equipped with high quality silver hammers then took it upon themselves to dispense justice to all the mandate breakers in the fortress.  It was quite messy.

Bridledstake, an adamantine spear.

It is encrusted with sandy clay and brown zircon, decorated with dog leather, and encircled with bands of adamantine. It is adorned with hanging rings of dog leather and menaces with spikes of puddingstone.

It has an image of the founding of my fortress in brown zircon, as well as an image of itself in sheep wool.

Naturally, being an artifact adamantine edged weapon, I immediately gave it to my captain of the guard.

Naturally, being a Dorf, he immediately began using the bash attack instead of stabbing things.  ::)

"Blottedburns the Scoured Sculpture", an acacia scepter
This is an acacia scepter. All craftdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is decorated with acacia and encircled with bands of palm. This object is adorned with hanging rings of acacia. On the item is an image of a black-cap in magnetite.

value: 14,400

so boring and useless... but it's my only artifact so far. I had another dwarf go fey shortly after this was crafted, but I was incapable of meeting his requirements of logs, stone, cut gems, uncut gems, and silk cloth. It doesn't help that we only have two kinds of trees around this particular fortress. I wish I could've given him what he wanted. seems like he would have made a cool statue or something.

edit:
I hate these dwarves.
I hate them so much.
Nosingaran, "The Brushed Sculpture", a lignite scepter (value 26,400)
This is a lignite scepter. All craftdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is encircled with bands of palm. This object is adorned with hanging rings of red tourmaline and menaces with spikes of milk quartz and banded agate.
On the item is an image of Blottedburns the Scoured Sculpture the acacia scepter in lignite.

I swear they're taunting me.

edit also: in the midst of a tantrum-spiraling fortress after a fire-breathing turtle titan came for a visit and ravaged both a merchant caravan and the local dwarves before being slain, a humble farmer created a new artifact that shall be remembered long after the blood on the walls has dried and the corpses rotted away;
"Yearscalded"
This is a jet crown. All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. It is encrusted with variscite and decorated with cave spider silk. This object menaces with spikes of jet, tetrahedrite and naked mole dog leather.

I'm glad someone finally turned out something cool, though I'm surprised it doesn't have an image of dwarves burning in horrible agony before a gigantic mountain turtle spewing fire out of its mouth, destroying the landscape and its inhabitants.

Well, this is my best artifact to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the goblin raids. This was based purely on them.

Can't post a screenshot because I don't know how.

Abalfikod, "Paleglazed", an iron crossbow

It is encircled with bands of ruby, This object is adorned with hanging rings of iron and ruby and menaces with spikes of iron. On the item is an image of a desolate badland in goblin bone.

Kills: About 50+ goblins and 1 hydra by shooting out its HEADS (and causing nice head trauma and bleeding)
Wielder: The Captain of my ranged regiment. Legendary marksman and soon to be legendary hammerdwarf.

And, out of curiosity, the 10th year anniversary in which I'm celebrating today is the same day I find out that the goblins spent all their leaders sieging my camp. Their base is situated in a badlands biome.

Genesis Mod.

EDIT: Just found the cost, 103,200. Yet it is the best weapon I have (not trying adamantine)

Dunno if this should be useless considering the material.. but!

"Mogshum An "The Elbows of Meditating" a gold(en) battle axe"

"This is a gold(en) battle axe.  All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality.  It is encircled with bands of gold.  This object menaces with spikes of brown zircon."

Sakzul Sanctumlashed, a adamantine battle axe

This is a  adamantine battle axe. All craftdwarfship is of the highest quality.  It is decorated with pandashi bone and encircled with bands of adamantine.  this object menaces with spikes of quartzite and milk quartz.

Made by an axe lord under possession, wielded by creator.

Axe has 71 notable kills and 13 others including:

2 Giants
FB
Cyclops
3 Civilizations notable leaders

Thats every large visitor to my fort except the first, a minotaur who predated the axe.
Wielder has 170 total kills and 4 legendary skills, captain of axes.

I also have an adamantine spear made by the captain of spears and with 90 kills on it but all generic seigers.

Not exactly an artifact in the traditional sense, but my militia commander just named his masterful adamantine short sword.  In five years, he has nearly 100 kills overall, with over fifty of them with this sword.
