Goodness... What will this board do now that MANY of the major reoccuring suggestions have been finished? IT IS ARMAGEDON!!!

People are always going to find stuff to complain about.  Don't you worry.

If you hand people Heaven, they'll say it's too perfect to be truly perfect.

( Haw...  That reminds me of the new Futurama movie. :P )

I think there are still plenty of things that still need to go in. Caravan Arc? Burrows? How about health care? Or intelligent sparring? What about having constructed buildings count as "inside" for the dwarves stay inside command?

That's just a few things off the top of my head. This forum still has plenty to talk about. Not to diminish Toady's accomplishments, of course. This release has a huge amount of great stuff in it.

I am planning on making a large above-ground city with a complex system of catacombs underneath, similar to Hackdirt from Oblivion, for those of you who have played it.  A big keep-type structure for the dining hall, individual houses (with offices, dining rooms, etc) for Nobles, and 'apartment buildings' for the normal folk.  Each workshop would be housed in a 5x5 building with appropriate storage underneath, with some shops (mechanic&mason, kitchen&still) combined in a larger facility with shared storage.  Smoothed-stone roads connect all of the building entrances, and the city would be surrounded with a 3-tile thick, 3-z high wall with fortifications for archers.  I'm not sure how I'll handle the trade depot yet - perhaps a secondary smaller wall outside of the primary 'village entrance'.

I'm over-thinking this, but I don't mind.  I just really hope I have sand and magma so that my apartment buildings and houses can have real windows.

Methinks I'm going to go draw a mock-up!

We Dwarf Fortress Players are a select group; elite, if you will. As such, we must protect our ranks from pretenders.

If you meet someone and suspect they are one of us, you should ask them "Is your Arm Ok?"
And if you are one of us, you will respond quietly "It needs blood, blood for the blood god."

Unless, of course, your doctor asks, then he might put you on some pills.

Elite enough to make sentence structures like "Us are elite"?

Technically, the fastest way to identify a DF player is to ask people if elephants and carp are dangerous. It's also the fastest way to confuse the hell out of the people there. Hehe... reminds me of the time we used to discuss how to bury a corpse in our backyards  in a packed LRT.

As supposed to discussing what commercially available equipment would be ideal for building a tank in your garage.
I settled on using a bulldozer.
I just did 5 minutes of searching, and it led me to find out that I wasn't the first with this idea.
All theoretical, mind you.

Obviously he was being nationalistic, and unshifted a little early.  The corrected sentence is:
US Dwarf Fortress Players are a select group; elite, if you will.

Selected from the general American citizen? If so, that's unsurprising.

Or you could just ask "Do you rely on slaughtering puppies or slaughtering kittens?"

the spinning bb round hits jack johnson, scumbag in the lower body!
it is pierced through entirely!
his right kidney has been poked out!
his liver has been mangled!

jack johnson, raider has been shot and killed.

The above (including bbcode) neatly weighs in at 255 characters. Fallout meets DF

Idiom, except that tends to garner a few more horrified looks than asking if elephants and carp are dangerous. Especially from those strange Humane Society people...  for some reason they turn a lovely shade of green when you start talking about kitten roasts.
