In an average village, there'd probably be about a hundred. I have know idea what the average is so tell me if I'm off.

pop-caps of a town are determined by the tile it is on, as well as the 8 tiles around it

os if you only want 100 in an average town, your usual supports would be around 15

Ah, I understand now. Well lets say about 500 then. Also I'd like to take 24,8 ( if thats the river way up top by the dollar sign) (coordinates confuse me)

500 you say...

I think that the pop caps would be about 60 for an average tile, changing on tempreture and that.

Ahhhh, a powerful race, however limited by the terrain and materials...

Pretty balanced, though mighty and fast, and as I see, are the rulers of the seas and rivers.

I presume that they generally live on the sea floor, and I think it is a good idea not to give them armor, as this will make them all but invunerable.

Some changes that I recommend:

Other than this, nice work with them.

Armok, please don't be angry that I interfer, but please take a look at your pop-caps and your growth rate.

with a sea-cap of 120, your guys pop-cap is 1080

that would be all fine and dandy if they weren't complete badasses. Slow growth rate and low pop-caps are used to balance out the strength's of a race.
Now if, let me quote you:

Quote
They are strong, agile, and have fast reflexes, can jump into the air and take to flight, are very thought and all of both genders trained from early childhood to never show emotion, pain, or weakness, as well as trained into elete soldiers 300 style. this makes them FORMIDABLE soldiers, the best way I can get you in the right way of thinking is "SPARTA" and "Nist Akath".

We have an army of over 1000 super-soldiers (per town). They can attack on land BUT your enemy can not return the attack, as they can not attack cities under water.

as an example, look at my race. Similar to your guys, they are extremely skilled warriors, extremely strong, extremely tough, raised to be one from birth.
They have a growth rate of 7% and a pop cap of a mere 300.

In the end, it will be Nahkh who will decide wether your race gets approved the way it is, but I, as his assistant GM, would not allow your race as it is, sorry.

As for deadlycairn, your race seems good to go, but we have to wait for Nahkh to approve it

I forgot the pop caps, nice recovery! If they do have that much a pop cap, then they should at least have less villages and smaller growth. A 1000 Ironbloods?! Think of the destruction and crumpet slaughter!

I'm a little bit concerned with The Silent Ones. Stronger, faster, stealthier and more attuned to magic than humans? Sounds a little buffed to me, but perhaps that's in the spirit of the game. I'll trust Akromas assessment on this. Consider yourselves approved, deadlycairn.

As for Armok, I also agree with Akroma on the pop caps. You can have lots and lots of weaker troops or fewer stronger troops. I'll be around later today to discuss this in detail.

Okay, after some IRC discussion and Armok editing his description, I think the race is good to go

what do you think Nahkh ?

Armok: That seems better. You're good to go. I would advice you to place your city near a coast, as I won't allow city building in deep ocean (which, as a guideline, will be more than three squares away from land) as that would give you too great a territory advantage. Roughly half of the map is ocean, after all.
With that restriction, you are approved.

EDIT: Looking through some of your numbers, in order for someone to fly 30m into the air it is necessary to swim at about 90km/h, which is very, very fast for fish (but doable, the top speed of swordfish is 96 km/h, and the speed record for fish is 110km/h (Istiophorus platypterus) for short periods only.) I'll take your numbers with a pinch of salt. It's also technically not possible to have a wing that would work both underwater and in the air, but I'll let it slide as long as you don't abuse it. Just picking nits.

I really take that as a not approved, it is not my fault that nobody else have chosen an aquatic civ, and territory is not a very big consideration whit this size of map anyway.
if it's the deepness we could just say all oceans are 50m deep, makes my cities less invulnerable as well.
there is no biome split between deep and shallow ocean, so it shouldn't follow different rules.

otherwise good.

... I'll never get used to not being GM :(

Your civ is approved. Just don't abuse your status as the only aquatic civ (as with your pop caps you could probably build an army of 20 000 troops easily, also were aquatic civs discussed beforehand?). I'm not against players gaining advantages over others because that is what games are all about, but giving players an unbalanced advantage from the start does not a fun game make.

I know there aren't biome differences between deep and shallow ocean, I just made that distinction up to limit your territory; Suppose that the other players divide the land in a roughly even way. And let's say that 2/3 of the map is land. That means that per land based player, each gets around 5% of the the total number of squares (and all the goodies they contain, plus the natural resources). You could get 33%. This is not balanced. Even with the restriction you would still hold a significant territory advantage. So stop your bitching :P Also, the only rule change I'm proposing is preventing you from building cities in too deep sea (with the basis of the pressure being too high for your race).

And you'll get used to it. (Maybe you should have considered this before quitting? Tsk tsk.)

Even though the oceans may be 50m deep, how are people who breathe supposed to get down there in the first place? Scuba tanks?

Even though they are only 50m down, they are still pretty much invunerable to most means of attack, while being able to move VERY quickly as well as safely.

How are we supposed to attack them? How will we defend ourselves from them? Build a 30 high wall out from the top of the ocean? most walls that we can build, they can just jump over, is that fair? And how can we build these walls in the first place, THEY ARE UNDERWATER!  >:(

How is this fair?
