I lost my last logbook, somewhere in the exploratory shafts. It appears I must start anew.
My prospecting company, The Great Picks, finally set off today. Our prospecting went middling well this winter. I doubt the penpushers will be pleased, but stuff them. Undoubtedly I'll be punished in some way for failing to find riches where there were none.

The prospecting company  !

Yeah, now dying to them is random and usually out of dwarf stupidity rather than any actual attacks.

They might as well be captured and domesticated now.

Skelks are not dangerous anymore. We need skelephants instead.

Woot, I got mentioned!
Aside from throwing themselves down the great staircase and such insanity, when was the last time we had a death before this siege? I can't remember any recent events.

There haven't been any. The champions that died in the siege were fairly inexperienced compared to Viktoria's group. Darktongue killed a number of goblins by beating them to death with his shield.

I don't remember this character. If I've overlooked him, I'm sorry. There's a lot of pages.

I do know that no such dwarf currently exists in Nist Akath

Second page is ill fitting for the glory of Nist Akath. I shall correct this at once.

Captain's Log. 21st of Hematite.
Ostri is back, along with the Caravan he represents, of course.
As the only competent liaison between our peoples, he has been, for the last couple of years, been attempting to gather more information regarding the death of his two guards in our Galleria.

While we know that this was a ritualistic killing, we had no idea of the cause. If the priestess knew, the knowledge is gone with her.
I can't help but attribute some of this to the Baron, Baroness, and the new Hammerer. They seem, however, to be fairly small, as a group, in the Fortress, and do not wield that much power over the populace.

So the question remains as to who they could possibly be working with, if it is indeed them, and what their aims are.

Ostri has helped, perhaps, to shed some light on this. He has looked into the dealings of his guards immediately prior to their departure from their home, and has turned up some clues.

Evidently, they were sourced by somebody to pick up a dark tome, from the Goblins no less! Apparently the trade had very little murder all around, and the tome got here unhindered. This is likely the reason for the death of the guards. If there were some sort of unholy ritual, it would be in addition to simply murdering them so they couldn't talk.

Ostri hasn't been able to get too many details of what the tome was about, but he did know the word Unoleshtần.
Meaningless to him, no doubt, but in Dwarven it means Soulsmith.
