Crystalizedmire, if you had a kill, would you use it on me or Fallacy? And can you please explain your choice?
Fallacy is always a little suspicious to me regardless of alignment so Im not really sure about their alignment. I also want to be more lenient with them. So if I had a kill, I would kill you.
Could you please elaborate on this Suspicion on Fallacy?
There's something always off aboug his playstyle, like the time they claimed theyre vanilla town and they were superman.

Re:"teamed"
Im using that word to mean sharing a chat; Imp, Maximum Spin, and Fallacy could be sharing a chat without directly being maf.

I still wanna know why you suspect that of the 2/3 of us, more than you may suspect it of others.  What are you noticing that made it worth speaking about?
I dont actually suspect any one of you more than the other becuase me thinking that you guys are teamed is based on the interaction where Maximum Spin tried to get Fallacy over his insecurity. You defended Fallacy and placed a lot of trust in them while Maximum Spin tried to have Fallacy get over his insecurities. It felt like I walked into a private chat.
I vote no lynch
Why?
I would rather have a townie get elimminated rather than no elimination.

For those who think magma mater is maf, who do you suspect being their partner?

Hypothetically, if Magma was maf?
Based on their interactions, Oliver seems to have had the most positive interactions with them, but that doesn’t prove anything.
I don’t think their partner would actively hunt them this early, so it potentially could be one of the people who haven’t pushed them with any sort of effort as well.
I’m currently somewhat inclined towards Magma today, but I’m reluctant to lynch them over picking the least helpful low-frequency poster
My current plan for the night is to bodyguard(ish) Imp, and perform an investigative action of my own.

Why are you happy to go no elim then, instead of poke/prod/question/challenge/explore for info?

I think it's worth noting that Max read me incredibly poorly.

Or rather, he read my past self very well, and read my present self incredibly poorly.

Maybe I wasn't clear, Fallacy. I'm suggesting you should try actually being cool and in control.
I'm not even trying to disparage him, I want him to get over that insecurity he tends to bring to d1.

Currently I've been less insecure. I'm less afraid of the game and getting superkilledasclaimedmasonbyjimgroovester anyways-

Okay, humor aside, I have actually been feeling more confident about this game and mafia in general. Maybe taking a break from mafia for a few months helped. Maybe it's just me getting back into the swing of forum games and being motivated by how much my players enjoy Gate of Dreams.

Maybe it's me idly dreaming about writing webnovels about a guy with the ability to create cups of hot chocolate, or better yet, performing the beautiful and terrifying FBYOR 7 now featuring Wounds and RPG class restrictions on role submission.

But I digress.

Maximum Spin, the fuck are you doing, it's been like two thirds of the way through Day 1 and you haven't even tried to pressure someone yet. Place an actually meaningful vote.

Or say that I'm scum, but if you do, please back it up. Make an actual case. You're not new, I fully believe in your power to bring the pain.

Well, there's two ways of looking at it.

One is that every vote matters in a game of mafia. One vote is the difference between a tie and dead scum.

The other is that the votes of veteran players are more important. (I am not a veteran player.)

The third is that pressuring people to use their votes generates very good data, because you can look at how town players pursue scum and how scum players try to avoid hunting their allies seriously, and discern which is which.

Crystalizedmire

Crystalizedmire, if you had a kill, would you use it on me or Fallacy? And can you please explain your choice?
Fallacy is always a little suspicious to me regardless of alignment so Im not really sure about their alignment. I also want to be more lenient with them. So if I had a kill, I would kill you.
How do you plan on reading Fallacy if he's always suspicious to you? At what point do you say, "this is too suspicious, I have to go to town on him now"?

magmamater: is there any reason why youre not sharing your top maf pick?
And is the player you think is maf, juicebox?
It's been a couple of days, but I'd be curious to know why you thought it was juicebox here.

AP and Vermillion: What are your current reads?
Asking other players for their reads when you've barely given any of your own is rather bold.

AP and Vermillion: What are your current reads?
I believe you should be able to see my reads right above your post, CM.
Speaking of, you're the person I forgot.
CM seems fairly content to lie low this game, but has more information out there than half of the people here. Unsure, but leaning townie currently.
I read the readlist, and thought someone else wrote it. I hadnt had the time to post since im vacationing in a different timezone than to what im used to.
And also because a lot of things im about to say is already said.

Magma mater: You want me to shut up because you think Im scum but you cant build a proper case against me because I dont post a lot. What do you want me to do? Wanting scum to shut up is worse for town imo since you cant investigate who their partner is. For the record, im town and youre being evasive with questions.

I could see Fallacy and Imp being teamed. Maximum spin and Fallacy too. My reasoning is that chats are closed during daytime and they need to communicate with eachother inthread.
Vacationing is an excuse here. Saying that the things you want to say have already been said, is another excuse. Excuses are scummy, but the inability to stick to a single excuse is even scummier. Your posts lack depth and content, this isn't caused by a vacation. Saying that Fallacy, Imp, and Max are possibly in a private chat together is completely inconsequential. Where are your reads? I don't see any town reads, a common mafia tactic to leave your options open.

For those who think magma mater is maf, who do you suspect being their partner?
Do you include yourself in this inquiry? Usually I see this question being asked by people who have a town read on someone and are trying to deter their lynch. Alternatively, this can be asked by a mafioso who is trying to get others to make reads predicated on a bad assumption, leading them onto poor trains of thought. I'm assuming your scumread on me hasn't evaporated without notice.

In summary, the only read you've posted is on myself, a read which I know is incorrect. Why aren't you doing anything productive? What are your reads? Your posts read to me as someone trying their best to appear productive, while in reality you're doing nothing but pursuing the consensus scumread.

juicebox

Eh I don't really see how this is that much better than RVS tbh

Also, I don't know whether I should be taking your assessment as a compliment or as an insult, so I'll just ignore it for now.

Anyway, Tric are you an SK this game?

Crystalizedmire, if you had a kill, would you use it on me or Fallacy? And can you please explain your choice?

4mask Welcome back! How difficult do you think it's going to be to get back into the swing of things after your hiatus? Do you think you'll be able to pull out any crazy gambits this game

Magma Mater, Oliverz144, VermilionSkies, Wolfkey, I have the same question for all of you. Since I've never played with any of you before I'd like for you to tell me what your mafia playstyle is like.
Saying that Fallacy's random question is not much better than RVS, then asking your own, is eh. It makes me believe you have an ulterior motive for asking the questions, such as distancing.
TricMagic not responding to this is concerning, it seems to be an inside joke so I'd expect him to respond in some way. This could be indicative of a pairing here. Not something that'll contribute to my reads unless one of the two flip mafia.

I think he did
What happened to this scumread on Fallacy? After this post you've never questioned him, never addressed him, never mentioned him. He's completely fallen off the map. The inconsistency of this read is suspicious.

Show of hands on whether I should do something really stupid and dangerous that MIGHT win the game?

Do it

Hey, Juice.  You're really quiet.  What does this mean?  Are you happy with how the game's going, think we're likely to elim who you want today and moving forwards?

It means I don't really think this D1 is going all that great and I'd be okay with Max doing something to shake things up.
This is a pretty unimpressive quote when you've done next to nothing except respond to questions asked of you. Also TMI on myself, perhaps; saying that the day isn't going great implies that you believe the most-suspected player is town. Yet, you're not defending me. Curiously, you haven't posted a read on me at all, despite most of your interactions being with me. Saying that the day isn't going great and then doing nothing to improve the situation is scummy.

In summary, the only read posted is on Fallacy, whom you haven't followed up on since you posted the read multiple reallife-days ago. Like CM, you're doing nothing but trying to appear active by answering questions and asking some surface-level ones of your own.

4maskwolf

Blurble murble hi.

I just woke up from a nap will post for seriouslies when my brain properly boots up.

Eh I don't really see how this is that much better than RVS tbh

Hi welcome to D1 what can we do for you today.

4mask Welcome back! How difficult do you think it's going to be to get back into the swing of things after your hiatus? Do you think you'll be able to pull out any crazy gambits this game
It'll be a slight adjustment to get used to the local meta again but I just got off two games over on MU so I'm not completely rusty.

We'll see on crazy gambits, I'm generally a lot less prone to those nowadays but role madness games always bring out that side of me lol.

It's better because it's different. We've all done the random voting stage, we know how it goes. It ends with someone flailing, some angry veteran glaring at them, and that poor soul (usually town) being bullied into a bandwagon that leads to their demise.

Surely we can do better.

I think my approach helps set up a better baseline for analysis of player actions and perspectives on later days. How does Imp look to Fallacy? How does 4maskwolf look to Tric? Where is all the pressure on AnimePigeon coming from?
I've heard every theory for how to play D1 under the sun but frankly outside of hard meta reads I've never found one I thought held water.

At the end of the day D1 is about generating content to parse through on future days when we actually have real information to look at. How we do it I've never found strongly matters so long as one thing doesn't centralize the whole day.

You rolled scum again, didn't you, Fallacy.
I think he did
:wowee: :wowee: :wowee:
Coffee tell, lol. Never ends up posting for seriouslies, ends up making another excuse for not putting any effort in later.
Finishes the post with drawing attention to / egging-on the scumreads on a likely townie.

Crystallized Mire is my first town lean.
Why? CM is scummy, even at the point of the game when this was posted.

Tric being weirdly paranoid about things is very classic town TricMagic. My only reservation is that he's specifically paranoid about an SK which is a fairly wolfy things to be worried about on D1 with no evidence of their existance.
Hedging a townread on a player because you don't want to give him a total pass. Very classic scum move.

Hm. Looking through the game so far:

Fallacy seems a little strange, but like they're being strange with a purpose behind it. I don't understand what they're doing, but they're doing something. Unsure.
You, Imp, seem fairly reliable to me? You've actively questioned most posts without a clear purpose, and don't seem to be pushing for a lynch without information. Town.
Max has only posted one joke and one vague reply to a vaguer statement. Feels scummy to me, but I have zero evidence and even less room to judge for not posting much.
Interrupted mid-post - Magma, I haven't the faintest idea of what your plan is. You state that you have a lot of solid reads with no visible evidence to back any of them up. Unsure.
Also, I leave my computer and it's tabs open while doing other things. I've been doing laundry between posts.
4mask feels like they're trying to hit a post quota to avoid getting questioned for inactivity. They do have solid posts between the one-line quota ones, though. Town?
Oliver has also only posted once, which I'm unsure about.
AP has said nothing of note game-wise.
Tric feels like FoU to me, but also feels more like town to me. Maybe it's the higher activity, or it's the slightly less obtuse posts?
I might be missing people, but I feel like I should post this before I get stabbed.
If it makes you feel better I'm kinda always like this, at least for the last while. I've long since learned the folly of trying to be too serious business on early D1 so I tend to memepost or comment on things that catch my eye but otherwise not really care.
Here's that other excuse I was talking about earlier. If it's true that you never dive into serious business mode d1, why did you promise to post for seriouslies in your first post? The contradiction makes either this post seem like a lazy excuse for not trying, or it makes your first sentence of the game dishonest.

Uuuuuuuuuuuurgh.

Magma talks almost exactly like one of the players I least enjoyed playing with on this site.

I really hope those accounts weren't alts of his because otherwise this game is going to be a miserable ego fest.
Typical "oh no I'm not having fun either fellow townies" while watching a townie get run up. Scum moment. Especially the exaggerated urgh. It's a little over-the-top.

Yeah I’ve just been waiting for him to finish his weird FPS and vote me so town actually has something to discuss rather than this weird “teehee I have a special wolfread but I won’t tell youuuuuuu” shenanigans.
More excuses. Are you waiting for me, or do you never post for real on d1? When are you going to post some real content? Also implying that I'm solely responsible for generating content; nobody has anything to discuss yet just because I'm withholding a single read. Ridiculous.

In summary, the number of contradictory excuses for not posting in a serious way, combined with the lack of effort and hedging one of his only town reads, combined again with that awful first post, make 4mask very likely to be mafia.

Oliverz144

HeyMagma , i really appreciate the challenge and presumably the honor for being invited to do it. I will try my best!
Also Thank You for the Vermillion explanation - i like the depth in your reads!

Imp I plan on finding scum by
a) reading all the posts ( a no brainer)
if something pings me or stands out i will pressure that, otherwise i will try to analyse intentions, wagonomics, interactions, posts, all the usuak stuff, i am no magician nor soul reader :/
meta is not a criteria for my reads, as i dont really have one, due to meta being built over a multitude of games in short time frames =)
Yeah i will post more=)
also the main posting phase is at around the sod/eod time here, so i don't usually have many things to say during my European day :/ I will try my best tho!!

Edit:
Imp has already solved it in a long post wall O.O i really like the way work and thought there, i would have done it the same !!

Also im posting from my phone aswell
Curious about what you thought my secret read was, and why you liked it, considering you haven't shared any scumreads of your own. I'd appreciate seeing a lot more from you. I'll rephrase this - I need to see more from you, or I'll be voting for you. It's one thing to dive into the mechanics of the game and talk about how you'll scumhunt. It's another to apply it. Talking about these things is an easy way for scum to hide. Making excuses that you're on Europe time doesn't impress me, either. In short, you're on the short list.

Wolfkey

I voted No Lynch because i have not seen any evidence thats strong enough to convince me to lynch someone before any abilities have even been used.
You need to not do this. Is this your first game?

Obviously, I'll be voting for one of Crystalizedmire, juicebox, 4maskwolf, or Oliverz144 by the end of the day. I feel like if we kill these four people, we probably win? I'd like to see what other people have to say about these reads, but obviously my preference is for lynching 4maskwolf today.
Fallacy, Tric, Vermilion, Max, and Imp all seem like likely town to me, ordered from most to least town. Wolfkey is probably town too, although he'll be frustrating to deal with.
The general feel I have for this thread right now is that town was/is voting for me, and scum is just sitting back watching it happen, happy to do nothing for the day. Hence, the people who have indicated no real reads despite being in the thread are the ones most likely to be mafia. I feel like I've repeated myself a lot in this post with regards to people making excuses for not participating - this is why, the mafia are trying to coast on the enmity I'm earning from the rest of the town.

Your playstyle is honestly convincing me that you're entirely town, based on the effort you're putting into hunting and questioning. It's just a bit abrasive. Bad vibes can lead to some pretty heavy outcomes, in this game. I'm apparently way too good at giving off a suspicious vibe.

Possibly because I'm usually scum and I've gotten used to it.

Doesn't mean I agree with all your conclusions, though. juicebox's present behavior, for example, is very common for them on a meta level. They've been in quite a few games, but they haven't really grown beyond low-effort. Unfortunately it's more of a null tell for them in particular than a scum tell.

And I'm curious why you read Max as town, when he's done basically no hunting or questioning of his own thus far, aside from telling me I should be more confident, which, I'm not sure counts, both because I'm already feeling pretty confident and because it's not really hunting.

With both you and Imp as town in my core book, that gives me a pretty solid foundation to work with for now. I'm questioning Max at the moment, but I'm certainly open to investigating 4maskwolf or Crystalizedmire.

Reading and hunting new players is a nightmare because the tells for them are completely unpredictable, at least relative to people with experience in the game. I don't begrudge them that, but it's hard to evaluate someone's playstyle when they don't have a playstyle. Not yet, at least.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Magma Mater:
1. Instead of thinking how suspicious they are, I try to find out those that seem like his teamates.
2. I thought it was juicebox you kept talking about because you aked me what I thought of juicebox after my first post.
3. I wanted to talk about something other than you. Anyways, here are my reads that arent null:
Quote
Town lean:
Imp is probably town. She's inqusitive and trying to help town gain more information
Scum lean:
Anime Pigeon: I dont like their string of posts because it is quite lacking
4. Two things can be true at once. My posts lack substance because everything I want to say is already said. My lack of posting is because Im on vacation. I was trying to make sense of an interaxtion I saw. Im currently trying to see more players who could be possible be teamed. Im not completely sure Imp, Fallacy, and Maximum Spin because it is based on one interaction.
5. I find your playstyle abrasive but I cant really think of you being a mafia member as I genuinely cant think anyone who could be your partner except maybe Fallacy.

Re: Conclusion
Everytime I pop into the thread, it seems like all there is to talk about is you.

Anime Pigeon: Now what about who you think is scum and town? Who do you think shares a chat with another?
Imp: What do you remember of playing with 4maskwolf?

And I'm curious why you read Max as town, when he's done basically no hunting or questioning of his own thus far, aside from telling me I should be more confident, which, I'm not sure counts, both because I'm already feeling pretty confident and because it's not really hunting.
Honestly I think that maximum spin was genuine when he said that you should be more confident. And I dont think maf!maximum would act like that.

Magma Re:Crystal - Not really a reply, just questioning the validity of their statements. It's mostly saying that anything Crystal says is scummy. Yes, we know you know your alignment Magma, you don't need to harp about it like it's a valid argument against what other people say. It's not.

Magma Re:juice - Some bit about me not answering. You'd be correct about that at least. Not much about juice though, just saying their questions don't matter. Some good points about not pushing the fallacy read. But it's not something that can be read as town given previous actions, you've eroded most goodwill you started with.
This day really hasn't gone great given the state of the votes. If you think Fal bad you should have pushed his no RVS stance.

Magma Re:4maskwolf - You are responsible for withholding a read. You expect others to generate conversation while you hang in the background. Not even that, you specifically dangled a piece of info you haven't shared all game, expecting us to pick up the pieces and come to your conclusion. News Flash Magma Mater, we aren't you. You wanting to direct a kill day one is also really freaking sus. Sure 4mask hasn't posted much, but that applies to quite a few. Including you.

Magma Re:Oliverz - Nothing here. Kinda like your scumslip read. Why wouldn't the scumslip player be the one you're voting for? Nope, not voting at all. That's totally fine right? Not like you need to lok yourself into a single line, just pick and choose who's most likely to take the fall.

Magma Re:Wolfkey - You know, that was a perfect opportunity to put your foot forward and vote Wolfto apply some pressure. You're not really applying any right now, an no excuse of hammers cause you're the only one with 2/7 votes.

Magma Re:General - You know, you'd have a lot less emity if you actually put up your reads. Killing 4 people does not a victory make. Townreading me doesn't appeal to me either, and townreading Fal at this point is just odd. Imp being the least trusted is even odder and Max hasn't really gone out of their shell this game. Did you pick the four most active participants when scum isn't just going to coast along?

Magma Re:AnimePigeon - Nothing. One of those coasters. But not on your list at all.
Magma Re:VermilionSkies - Nothing. One of those coasters. But not on your list at all.
Magma Re:TricMagic - Throwaway in your wall.
Magma Re:Imp - Nothing. No reasoning for why they're town. I might believe that and have it locked in, but.
Magma Re:Max - Max hasn't ben doing much I think. Just typical day 1 from them. One of your townreads somehow? Why?
Magma Re:Fallacy - No explanation, most likely to be a ringleader if scum. The lack of rvs led to a lack of votes in general. While I don't see it atm, you can't deny how things have shaped up. They're also the biggest flaw in your argument for looking for scum among the low effort posters.

In conclusion, this is just another post designed to waste town's time and cause chaos on your eventual flip I feel. Pretty impressive for an ally who's likely going to die. I'll just take it as we can't trust a single word out of your mouth, given you aren't willing to put a vote behind it to back it up. That's called a Chinese Fire Drill at the end of day. And one of the best ways for mafia to get out of a lynch.
