Vote for Petra to use Tier Increase to improve their abilities.
-1 to any such nonsense.

"We could empower for ten turns for the same price if it becomes necessary, and choose which to empower rather than being committed to one. This is like the healing again."

"But if we never use any of the permanent spells, we'll never become legitimately more capable. Yes, we could empower for ten turns for the same price - but this will last us eleven and further, and likely carry other benefits besides. Empowering is all well and good as a temporary solution, when a burst of power is needed, but we must make actual progress if we are to succeed here, not take shortcuts."

Empowering the spells of someone with 2.0 spells would make them 4.0. Compared to 2.0 spells. Just like the Sapling's ability to provide Mana, Dryads must also grow to provide for it.

Likewise, it would take 15 more Mana for a new Dryad to manifest. 10 Mana is simply the cheaper cost for now to improve our abilities overall.

Summer 5, Year 1

The rain intensifies!!
The top of the tree has splits into two distinct branches!

A significant amount of mana (Exactly 10) is infused into Petra! Nearly twice the size as before, Petra is now an Adolescent Dryad! Take note of some new spell options!

The slimes start moving to the tree in such a way that they can safely be identified as hostile. Petra invokes Vinewall, at 1.0 magnitude. A new random Vinewall comes up to bump one of the slimes, now referred to as Slime A, for 1 damage. Slime A is in a bit of a daze and doesn't do much else this turn.

Slime B savagely attacks... The other Random Vinewall for 1 damage! The vinewall wasn't actually blocking it from reaching the tree.

Doraido puts the bucket down near the tree, but was unable to also use a light bind this turn. (Probably because they had two separate action posts, which is not supposed to happen).

Slime A: 4/5hp
Slime B: 5/5hp

The tree is partially encircled by defenses.
There is a small hole with some water in it near the vinewall next to the tree
There is a dead vinewall around here

Doraido

One cannot say the improvement was wasted. I suppose that vinewall can be fossilized for some purpose later on. Maybe fabricate some stone spears.

Petra

"Ah, that feels quite nice. And the tree is producing more mana! I knew that would have to happen eventually.
Anyway, there's work to do."

Raise a 1.0 Vinewall to launch Slime A away from the tree, then stab... no, use the edge of the shovel like an axe and slash at Slime B while it's restrained.

"I rather doubt a spear will be of much use here..."

More meant using the dead vines for Fabrication later. Pit traps popped up when thinking, but spears are closer

"Ah, apologies. I hadn't been paying attention to what you were saying, more thinking that a spear was worth little against a slime.
Regardless, I will only be constrained by material quantities, not shape. I intend more to construct swords, axes, potentially hammers. I believe them to be more universally applicable."
