((The most recent status says she is contactable by radio. Did that change?))

A thought occurs to me.

If we are to treat Cephilia not as a vassal, but as a friend-- if we are truly to trust her, as we pledged--

...we could release her. Render void the contract she gave us. A token beyond any apology we could give.

I do not order-- I merely offer. Has the thing merit?

Hmm. Personally, I don't trust her. She did intimate when we woke up that only Emma and William were preventing her from seizing control of us.

...good point. I will delete that post. <.<

[I will scan through the channels to try and locate Cephelia, Pheobe.]

...That...might be a step too far. We can be friend and foe with an oath still bound. If we remove it completely...she might find us foe again. It would be a major symbol of trust -- but she is still bound to Magnus. But if my Ancestors wish it so, I would give in.

I vote caution in releasing Cephie, at least for a little bit. We have time to spend evaluating her further.

In fact, let's make that official. For the time being, I oppose releasing Cephie from her bond with us.

Ha; my compatriots have spoken! I was ever a touch naive, you know... a century too many, perhaps, with a people little given to treachery. Good folk. Honest folk.

We are
advisors, Phoenix-of-Sol-- did you not name us so? Do not hesitate to contest us, as the need rises. You deserve a hand in your own fate.

I admire your willingness to open with her, and your love of trust, but now - our people, our plans and our self in a fragile state, beset by attackers on all sides - we must tread with unfortunate care. But fear not. I have no doubt we may one day be able to treat with Cephelia of Lavoisier in honest faith, unmarred by this caution. Your openness is nothing to apologise for. I, too, regret that circumstances demand this close counsel, this state of eternal mistrust, where we must ever [play our cards close to our chest].

["Yes, Pheonix?]

I trust your judgement and guidance. If I didn't, I would stop listening -- eventually, you would fade away. I don't want that--

Also you guys are much better at talking than me...but how about a compromise. It may be a bit manipulative, but she seems desperate for attention and comfort. Maybe something like that could be used?

I'm willing to give it a try. What do you think about these words?

["Cephie, I'm sorry that I acted coldly towards you after you healed me. I've been through a lot recently, and it is difficult for me to trust others. I really value your help and advice."]

A request directly after our attempt to open with her? It appears quite manipulative. And she will surely notice.

Good point. Let's try it without the request, for the moment.

Ahh... you honor us, Φοίβη. You honor us. Someday, you will outgrow us-- and that, that will be the greatest honor of all.
Now. Perhaps a rearranging of the words, leaving out the clause in question?

"I... need to apologize."

"Trusting people is hard for me. I tend to get myself hurt, trusting people-- but I pushed you away back there. Treated you like one of my soldiers. You're supposed to be more than that. I gave my word."

"Your help, your advice-- I really am grateful, Cephie. I'm sorry."

Better. Spy and unknown though she is, if we are to seek Cephie's trust, I prefer that we be worthy of it. We need her help, her resources, but maybe I would rather go without them if we cannot get them without resorting to the formerly-proposed... trickery. Using her trust as a mere token to get what she has. Yes, I am cautious about releasing her fully, but I have no taste for demanding she become our tool. It's the type of thing SEED wouldn't bat an eyelash at, but we must strive to be more worthy.

Heh. "
We need her help... I would rather go without..." Maybe my personal opinions are beginning to color my judgement.
