He had a net +5 to hit eS, missing was literally impossible, even if they rolled triple 1's the result would have been the same. Now, if he hit one of your components that still had armor plating, you would have survived for another turn, but he didn't.

Anyway;
Continue the Barrage, 1 Secondary on the HMS Freedom; everything else (1 main, 1 secondary, 1 teriary) fire on HMS Hammertime. Quarter Speed.
(Do I have to keep declaring Quarter Speed? As I don't think I've ever ordered a change from it.... Anyhow, fun fact: With Hammertime being dodgy, I have equal chances to hit Hammertime and Freedom. My shot distribution is as it is for a reason.)

I think speed is assumed to be constant until a change is specified
