Unfortunately not all claims go public domain, their stores, wealth and influence go with them.

So yeah you are starting from scratch...with a myriad of public claims lying about :P

Turn 12

The Ironbeards

You came to Deepmire because you heard of its rich gem and gold deposits despite its small size. Planning to hitch your family to the Bronzebeard clan, you arrived to find them leaving. Dwarven Society has many a strange custom and thus it is easy to create grudges through uninentional slights. Which is apparently what happened. The Bronzebeards insulted the Kings beard...and were lucky to be simply exiled. Without any marriage prospects you set your family to build a fortune on their own.

The Public Gold Mine is perfect for your purposes and soon enough your miners bring forth a haul of 4kg of Gold.

Copperbacks

8 new rough Sapphires are dredged from the earth!
You sell the lace agate for 10☼ before opening the lace agate cluster to the public.
Meanwhile your miners proceed to do more exploratory mining and find another vein of lignite.

The Youngbloods

You mine 3kg of Hematite.
selling off the unrefined lignite is not particularly profitable but you still make 35☼ out of it.
You also make the Limonite deposit a public claim.
Simultaneously you gain 20 Influence from the Gold Mine.

How many soldiers are in a squad? How much do mercs cost? Is the number of soldiers next to the snakemen the number of soldier needed to defeat them?

A Squad has ten men, mercs cost depending on what you want to hire and the number next to the snakemen is their numbers. So the town can muster 70 Warriors.

Turn 13

The Ironbeards

You sell the unrefined gold ore for 120☼
Meanwhile your miners bring back another 5kg of gold.

Copperbacks

You mine another 7 Sapphires, while those that you have cut turn a nifty profit. one of them turns out to be a large sapphire. You sell the normal ones for an absurd 1400☼ and the big one for a whopping 600☼.
The sheer wealth you pull out of the sapphires draws even more clans to you.
Oh yeah, you mean 5kg of Hematite ore aswell.
Unfortunately that will be the end of your wealth. Why? Because, as the last miner leaves for the day guards get into position and block the entrance to the shaft, mumbling something about work security and orders of the king.

The Youngbloods

The closing of the second shaft gives you a massive leg up over the Copperbacks, whose main source of income (the sapphire cluster) is now gone.
Meanwhile the Ironbeards mining of your gold vein gains you another 25 Influence
You yourself order your dwarves to dig deeper in shaft 3, avoiding the vein in which the cave crawler still resides.

YOU DUG TOO DEEP

Catastrophe strikes. Your miners sent to explore the surroundings stumble directly into a Jabberer nest. The younglings are almost grown and thus three squads of miners face 4 Jabberers. The slaughter wrought upon them is terrible. Only one group of your miners make it out alive...

EVENT:

Due to "Security Concerns" the second mineshaft has been closed down to everyone.

Can a vein/cluster be mined more than once in the same turn?

Nope all the Jabberers are stil alive

and yep you can send several squads of miners do mine the same vein/cluster.

Small suggestion you lads should think about pooling influence and welath to get mercs and military in to clear out those mineshafts.
