A 50% chance of a +1 isn't going to help survivability a whole lot, and every gladiator we have needs to be fed. Optimising our token income and our gladiators training takes priority over having a whole mass of gladiators. Especially since we'd need to spend tokens on building the infrastructure to support them anyway.

How do you not see having more durable gladiators that can be assigned to more arenas, the most direct avenue to more tokens each turn?

Greater start-up costs. Which we have to pay. Hence why I voted to provide food to the plebs; so that we have the tokens to do it. It's unlikely our gladiators will lose the match they're being sent to, especially after training.

Donate To The People: By spreading our good fortune among the Plebes word of our good deeds will carry our name far and wide. Provides One Fame Token per Surplus Food per Turn. 50% chance for a second Fame token as word spreads.

I read this as an accumulative bonus that demands we have -1 gladiator. Otherwise this path doesn't get it's full value, so saying it is the better option in the shortrun I am skeptical at best. Especially compared to other choices that immediately offer extra tokens, so we can stop this export with no opportunity cost.

Donate To The Temples grants two 25% chances for an additional token of any type. This seems the best for raw token farming. Fate tokens are also the most versatile as I read things: ... represent the universe just...going your way.

It doesn't cost us a gladiator to do this at all? And we'd still need to train that that extra gladiator if we're at food limit as well. We'd need a lot more training dice to continually push out match winners, and we'd need more tokens to get the extra training dice to back them.

We only get tokens from matches if we win the matches after all.

We are spending our "surplus food". I just checked. I don't want it to be rutine. I will compromise and pick the option that gives more tokens now. I don't want to assume we will always have more food than gladiators, I consider that an undesirable state of affairs.

Definitely not ideal, though I wonder if Taricus could offer an in-game reason we shouldn't have 3/3 food dedicated to token harvesting. I am betting on the mechanics favoring gladiators over vacancies to be auctioned off.
