You can get up to two so long as their related parts of a loadout (sword and shield, greaves and mail, pair of spiked gauntlets with a helmet lacking eyeholes)

Feel like this team. And Man of Paper said history be darned. There were many pole arms back in history, Hell some Spears that had such big pointy ends doubled as pole axes ( though said spear on wuestion was in Asia so a stretch to have it here.)

This is a Gladiator deal, I think Taricus has the right idea. They are to fight. Got to have them win/stay alive. Spying can wait.

I do feel a bident would be more exotic and draw more crowds though ( they could be used in a fight and fishermen actually used them, just like a trident. Hell given the fisherman is fisher men he may be better off that way in familiar. Unless want to rig a big manly harpoon style thing.)

Berserker should be two hand axes, more hits, less openings, can have better movement/fury and the axes of the North tribes are met to tear shields, size not withstanding. ( Especially the Viking ones. With their quality iron and apparently stole Japanese folding style technique, for super quality slashing weapons.)

Enough of my ranting for now.

Alright guys, here's some family stuff.  I set them up as a pool of NPC's the GM can pull from for future characters.  It is also can establish a side plot progression beyond the usual "fuck the OPFOR" plot of any other Arms Race.  Manius is basically the main character and everyone else is a potential family member we can bring into the operation.

So here's a list, roughly in terms of seniority.  It's intentionally incomplete in case somebody wants to write up another son/brother/cousin/adoptee/best-friend further down the line:

Manius Magnus - Famous Centurion and senior-most member of the family.  Retired as Pilus Prior (Seniormost Centurion of his Cohort) of the esteemed First Cohort of Legion II Augusta.  Had many children and siblings, though many are effectively estranged.  Secretly ill and hopes his last business venture in blood sport might be a way to bring his family back together.

Braggadoccius Magnus - Former Legionary and Manius' younger brother.  Served in the "Victorious Sixth Legion," as he'll quickly tell anyone within sixty seconds of meeting them.  Secretly was only a sapper in the Sixth.  Most probably suspect he wasn't the full badass he claims, but his war stories are often too legitimately entertaining.  Has a recent fascination with gladitorial bloodsport and his gift of self-aggrandizement might make him a decent fight promoter one day.

Florus Magnus - Ionian Merchantman and Manius' oldest son.  Very different from his father, Florus rebelled and went into business in Greece.  Openly hates red meat, and insists a diet of fish and vegetables is the 'purist' way to live.  Mostly imports fine Grecian oils to Rome but has been known to exploit opportunities in other goods.

Regulus Magnus - Young Praetorian Guard for-hire and one of Manius' sons.  A spitting image of his father, Regulus is a natural soldier and joined the elite Praetorian Guard.  Despite a promising future, Regulus just recently resigned, claiming he could easily sell his Praetorian skills in the private sector.  Proud of his service, but discreet enough to never talk about it indepth.  Tends to casually call everyone "brother."

Porcius Magnus - Gymnasium Trainer and Braggadoccius' adopted son.  The extremely macho Porcius claims he would've joined the Legion, "But I would've punched out any centurion who got in my face!"  Runs a gymnasium where he trains men "to cultivate mass" before he personally "beats that meat" into "rock hard bodies."  Insists a well oiled massage is the best stimulant of muscle growth.

Verginius Magus - "Weaponry Afficionado" and Manius' youngest teenage son.  While you were chasing women, he studied the blade.  Slight of stature and asthmatic, Verginius lacks the physique for a proper military career.  Instead, he's since established a hobby collecting aesthethically exotic arms.  While most are of dubious quality, surely some might prove functional.  Perhaps his hobby might be adapted into a proper trade.  Calls women "M'Lady" for some reason.

To provide an alternative to the rather... bad characters C5 has provided...

Lucius Magnus Caelius: Head of the Magnus family, and the first of the family to have reaches into social ranks as an Equites through virtuous service in the military, and by such service having brought glory upon House Magnus as a Primus Pilus (Chief Centurion). A stern, hard man (In other terms, a rather ideal roman), Lucius runs the household with the same strict discipline has his legionaries did under him.

Gaius Magnus Caelius: Lucius's twin brother. Still in the legion, serving in Germania. Whilst still only a centurion, Gaius has undertaken a second tour in the military after completing his first, driven by ambition to replicate the success of Lucius' career.

Severina Caecilia Sabina: Lucius's wife, and the effective brains behind most of the family's business operations.

Titus Magnus Calvus: Lucius's first son, whom has enlisted in the legion as befitting the House's reputation.

Tertius Avitus Cato: The man who operates as the Ludus's owner/manager, given the social connotations of being a vendor of human flesh for public entertainment. Not that he doesn't earn a fair pay for what he does, but the concern is to shield house Magnus from the social repercussions of renting out gladiators

In addition to Tarcius' characters, I present to you:

Tycho Flavius Vulpus: Unrelated to the family. Served directly under Lucius Magnus Caelius as his Optio. Now he helps manage Lucius' estate as well as handle the general dirty work and low level details. They also posses a pet Red fox. (Partly blame PJ, totally blame me)

I am remiss we didn't take advantage of the FIVE agility slave. When both of ours are ONEs. That is our enemy's weakness, and we should exploit it.

What if each of us personified a family member?

For example, I could be...

Damion Magnus:
Blacksmith and gentle giant. Young but big like a bouncer, with a handsome but passive face. Likes to watch birds, and learn about family history. Enjoys making the family crest on their formal armours.

Blacksmithing is enlisted work. From this point on, we're officers. Which means we leave stuff like blacksmithing to hired help. The only time we get our hands dirty is by plunging a sword into our enemies!

And the five agility slave was mediocre in every other area, and likely had a pretty debilitating trait to boot. And the weakness is only in regards to training rolls, which good rolls on their side, and poor rolls on ours, can nullify.

I believe each having our own avatar.. we will keep track of their personal growth better. And each only need to keep track of one a piece.

And add to roleplaying and fun and stuff. No objection to other family* plans, I just think mine is better.

Dude, you don't have an action plan to vote for :I

Anyway, V2 fluff looks good, but you need to change the prenomen to a latinized form (AKA replace the o with an a), and add on a cognomen. Moreover, we're not the ones keeping track of the family, that's MoP's job, and it's likely he'll put up a list of them in the turns.

Ah, well thank you since "historical accuracy doesn't matter" and I have I think appeased you on that more or less, I will use Damion the username of my best friend.

Yeah I don't know, it would require everyone to make one so all I can do is say I am game (obviously). I remember in xcom arms race I thought it would be cooler if we were each a VIP council member that could actually be influenced by the game. And now that this game had stronger "roleplaying elements" according to OP, thought I might have my chance, but again it would require everyone to make someone.

To be fair, I think the accuracy thing in the OP of the main thread is to stop us from bitching at MoP, not amongst ourselves :P
