Planning I
The Slave Trader is approached by the family's representative. For a moment the trader continues his normal shouting into the flowing crowd, then stops upon seeing the mark of House Magnus branded on the representative's arm.
"Ah!" he calls out, "Does House Magnus seek my wares?"
He begins craning his neck around to get a view through the crowd, eventually spotting a familiarish face that decided to approach at that very moment.
"Sir! An honor!" the Slave Trader stiffens up as only a soldier would, "I fought under your brother's command up north, up until
this."
The Slave Trader taps his right arm, which is missing halfway up the bicep, then hold out his left arm, "I am Auroros, trader of flesh and blood. Mostly worker stock, but every now and then I get my hands on a real gem. Here, let me show you..."
Auroros takes note of the particular interest taken in the German and the Gaul. After some idle conversation the subject eventually turned back to business.
"Unfortunately I won't be charging you for these two," he said, "I'd be missing more of myself if it weren't for the Magnii. It's a pretty good trade I think, one life for two."
You examine the two Gladiators and note some interesting facts about them:
Germanic - +1 Technique (Spear) Training.
Can exceed 6.
Fisherman - +1 to Technique (Spear) Training. Cannot exceed 6.
Gallic - + 1 to Technique (Axe) Training.
Can exceed 6.
Merciless - 50% chance of killing opponent, more likely to quickly finish off opponent.
Drunk - 50% chance of -1 on any Training roll.
Both are fairly unhappy, but no more so than any other slave.
After examining your new acquisitions it is ultimately decided to sign them
both up for the paired battle in the Forum Arena.
The potential Gladiators, now properly named Athaulf and Obelix, are brought back to the Ludus to train. It is now the
Action Phase where you will dump tokens into an infinite number of tasks. Notably, you can attempt to "design" equipment to acquire for your Gladiators. This is also the phase you can upgrade or purchase new property in.
You can create as many Family Members as you'd like. Constructing an actual family tree and hierarchy and fleshed out characters might see things just...go your way. Same thing with creating the brand used to mark your property.
IT IS NOW THE ACTION PHASE.Basic Familial Household: Has all the basic needs required to support a large family, even if some of that "family" are Gladiators. Provides 3 Food.
Basic Ludus: A courtyard and Gladiator housing that many might consider worse than prison. Has a Standard Trainer (provides No Bonus) and a single Wooden Training Post (provides No Bonus).
