My mental map has failed me. Perhaps Fiona elbowed her so hard she ended up in the corner seat instead? Everyone was too polite to make a fuss about it.

Fionas elbow is powerful enough to nudge time and space itself!

Truely, it is devine punishment for not sharing the plot hook with everyone.

My characters are all either brash enough to rush forwards without a word, or cautious enough to investigate, but not share unless they find something concrete.

The question is, do the rest of us form a conga line to follow Egan, or do we continue to act in IC fashion and not suspect anything that we don't know about IC?

All of the rest of you were hired to defend the train. You may wish to engage into investigation to make sure 'everything is all right'. But I can't exactly rationalize Fiona cocking her parasol like an imaginary shotgun and going hunting for bandits.

We sit here stubbornly and let the diving suit girl deal with it herself. We may very well spend the rest of the game sitting on this train.

Though it sounds like we are going to get involved pretty quickly :V.

Sorry to cut your exploration short, Mr Hess. I'd like to move things along a bit since I probably won't have a chance to update on the weekend. Now let's see how deadly those combat mechanics really are!

Hmm, I wonder if we'll get an update before the weekend?

Also I'm wondering if I should ask about/plan future character advancement when I might get one shotted soon.

You did indeed!

Ask away. I'm sure you'll be fine.

So we are assaulting a fortified hill for our first fight. How annoying :V. Fire is too valuable to use smoke cover, so we really are stuck doing some flanky stuff, unless we borrow a rifle or the big gun and count on or PC sniping skills to get the job done quickly.

You would think the Bandit's plan would leave a team behind. Capturing and interrogating them would give us enough information to get the train back if we end up failing, though it would suck for basically everyone in that situation :V

Anyway, questions...

1. Will we be gaining attribute points and new traits? I've got an idea for some, especially when Fiona learns to fight for herself. Might go over them if so.
2. For my frontier cook trait, how much resources do I consume to 'activate' it? Is it any combination of 5 daily provisions? Are quality provisions required as opposed to regular ones, or do they otherwise provide any other benefit?
3. When my Hope Bringer activates, does that mean I can heal/negate a a trauma result from a person who is suffering from one, or do I radiate an aura of Hope that negates all trauma to people who I consider friendly?

1. Attribute points, yes, eventually. New traits... sure, maybe? I think I'd reserve them for particularly noteworthy heroics.
2. Any combination of 5 provisions. You will need time and means to cook, naturally. Particularly detailed and loving descriptions of the feasts you create may provide extra benefits.
3. The second. It's a passive thing, always applies when someone you're friendly with would be hit by or is suffering from a Trauma. Your companions count, Stern would count, but you can't decide a random bandit is a friend to get them that benefit (I mean, not without an effort to befriend them).

Yeah, I was thinking Fiona might do melee combat to serve as a sort of combat specialist job. Possibly learning some variation of 'weapon finesse'. My idea was swapping speed and might in Melee and Aim when wielding certain weapons, D&D style.

I just need to find a Rime Samurai to train her.

...

Also, am I range of being able to talk to all the other party members? Thinking we need to coordinate here.

So if we are meta-planning, there are three parts.

1. Hill top bandits
2. Barricade
3. Train Attack.

One is probably a distraction (unless Murphy's law 14 comes into effect), but we need to take them out to get 2 cleared. If we get 2 cleared, then we can skedaddle before 3 becomes a big problem.

We already kind of split up. Ron can go to the hill and take out the rifleman with a couple of NPCs and whoever else wants to come. Then we knock the barricade down. A third team can keep the main attack at bay, holding them off for long enough for us to free the train.

The issue with removing the barricade is that it allows the baddies to leave with the train if we fail to stop the train attack.
