@Voidslayer, we already have a flintlock rifle.

It is smoothbore and has terrible accuracy.  Though a revision to make it uncomplicated then working on a better version would be nice.

Uhh, it's not a smoothbore. It'd have been mentioned if it was. It's a rifle, plain and simple.

((To clear this all up, the gun you have is a riffled musket. Slower to reload then a normal musket, but the barrel is rifled, and it is more accurate.))

Rifle Decomplexification, Normal (4 + 3) Superior craftsmanship
In the closing days of our work, with the cannon complete and working as intended, we turned our eyes to the rifle and worked on making a proper dedicated plan to produce the thing, and we did so quickly and with ease. Since we finished it quite quickly, we made a few additions that could be added to the thing, such as golden wings that can be screwed in over the barrel to help with our officers aiming, or a leather sheath to keep the powder from getting wet in the rain after putting it in the pan. We even made a proper cleaning kit that can be used to maintain the rifle better. All of these minor additions will help the guns efficiency a bit without increasing costs, and we should be making these guns with ease now. (Thoth Mk.1 Flintlock Rifle's are no longer complex)

It is now the Strategy Phase. The Pharaoh is very pleased with your work and feels confident that this year, things will go our way.

I don't think we'll be able to use the cannon to its fullest in the mountains, so we should try for the Village and attempt the use of some mobility. We might be able to get the cannon in the swamp, but we can definitely take advantage of that flintlock+cleaning kit.

Battle Report 1, 1900
This first year of trying to replicate the great innovations our nation has seen was a massive success for our efforts, and the time has come to put these innovations to use on the field of battle. The more impressive and noticeable of the two things we have done however, is our new Seth Demi-Culverin. While the task of making the cannon was while not exactly ground breaking for us, and especially not the rest of the world, being in a simplified sense merely an up sized gun of our muskets, it is much much more then that. Not only have we made it work, we have made it work without any kind of issues besetting its design along with being highly efficient. We also worked on our rifled muskets in the fittingly named Rifle Decomplexification project, which while no where near as impressive from a first glance as our new cannon, is actually quite impressive in the competent work our engineers did, given how little time we work on it and how quickly we made the simplified design plans with additional improvements. While the world might not appreciate our work, if we keep going at this rate, certainty they will at least notice our people's intelligence and ingenuity sooner rather then later.

Meanwhile, it seems our enemies have had contact with the rest of the world as well, seeing how they have guns as well, including a particularly big and heavy one we have observed called the Shonkhor 4kg Cannon, which despite its name weighs about 1300 pounds or so, at least that's our estimation from what we have gathered and seen. However, other then this cannon, we haven't seen anything else from them, and most of their forces seems to still use the bow and arrow, which while still a trusty weapon almost any Nafunai can admit, isn't anywhere near as effective against horses as a proper gun. Whether this is due to production issues or simply being too stubborn to replace the bow is up for debate, at least for now.

Battle Report, Naval Combat: The battle for the waters remain mostly how it almost always was, ships just doing what they need and only firing a few arrows at each other if they get too close, with only rare engagements between convoys with minimal damage done to either side. The only thing of note was a single time two ships transporting cannons engaged each other with both crews having the bright idea to use the cannon on the deck. Only moderate damage was suffered by the enemy while our own ship suffered some minor damage, it still raises a few questions about if the seas will be so calm in the near future. Either way, No one has any kind of advantage at sea.

Battle Report, Island Mountains. Attackers, no one: The soldiers in the mountains have a fairly uneventful time there, with most forces from us being diverted to the mainland, and the enemy having the same idea, our soldiers and their own mostly stick to their side of the lines. Rarely, a few of our patrols might bump into one of the enemy's and fight, but outside of these occasional incidents, most of our soldiers spend their days in camp talking with other soldiers and doing patrols on our side of the line. For this reason, unsurprisingly, very few casualties happen here outside of the aforementioned patrols meeting each other and the occasional avalanche or accident. Due to this, its quite obvious that No one gains ground as no one actually made an effort to take it.

Battle Report, Villages. Attackers, Nafuna, Karikhita: As one might expect, the Villages, being the most open and easy to supply front, has most of the fighting between our forces and the enemy, and also has the most casualties. Our now standardized rifled musket, the Thoth Mk.1, with all of its additions and being able to be equipped to all our soldiers, is quite effective at picking off the Kharikhitan's, mostly due to the fact that a horse tends to go down with one shot by the musket while it usually takes more then one arrow to take one down. This, combined with all our soldiers having access to guns means that we have an advantage in being able to take out our enemy before they can us. At first, the reloading of the rifled musket was a issue, and it still is, but by having ranks of soldiers who are fully loaded step in front of the ones who have just fired, we have minimized that issue to some extent. Its not our rifle that does all the work however, as our cannon is still here and able to pack a major punch into the enemy forces over and over again. However, the enemy too has a cannon, which while still dangerous, certainty isn't a threat after a shot from our cannon own hits it, and it often does. Slightly due to the weight of the enemy's cannon and our own cannon's superior gunners, reliability, and naturally, reload speed, the cannon battles tend to go in our favor, even when slightly outnumbered. All of this leads to the loss of ground for our enemy and our soldiers walking into the villages and towns that where built by our hands, usually to find them sacked and abandoned sadly. At least we managed to take back some of the land that is rightfully our own. Villages [Nafuna 3/4, Karikhita 1/4]

Battle Report, Swamps. Attackers, Nafuna, Karikhita: The battle here is miserable for both sides as it always was. Infections, mud, dirty water, and simply the gloomy look to name a few reasons as to why that is. But still, our brave soldiers press on in the bad conditions to defend our land and retake what was lost ages ago. In the humid and warm conditions combined with the water and mud, reliability of even our old composite bows, and more importantly, our enemy's own, is questionable. However, our rifle with its own dedicated cleaning kit and the protection from the elements its sheath has makes it more reliable, at least at the start of an engagement. It also should be noted our cannon can to some extent move around here, although not too much. In situations it is here its quite helpful, although at times they need to be abandoned due to deep mud, though even here they still survive the conditions quite well due to its reliability, meanwhile their own cannons are almost no where to be seen outside a few stuck in mud. The most major thing to note here however, is that a group of officers have banded together, using their iron sights to launch ambushes upon our enemy, usually by hiding behind some shrubbery and trees. They take out enemy patrols quite effectively with their accuracy, but they don't have much of a major impact outside of giving others ideas, whom are less successful, mostly due to them not having the blessings of Shai and presumably due to relying on solid cover to be undetected. Unlike the Villages however, the fighting here is much closer, and we only barely due to the actions of our brave soldiers and the blessings of the gods manage to regain our lands [Nafuna 3/4, Karikhita 1/4]

Outside world and Internal affairs: Egyptomania, an interesting fascination, and to some extent obsession with our old homeland Europeans have seems to have made more of a resurgence as of late with their discovery of us, with many archeologists speaking with us and trying to learn more about our past. Interestingly, they actually understand hieroglyphics to an extent. For the time being, we have decided to let them stay as guests, hopefully too many of them don't come around too quickly, otherwise we might not be able to deal with all of them properly. In other news, the United States gains control over Tutuila in Samoa and several smaller Pacific islands. The United States and the United Kingdom sign treaty for Panama Canal. British Prime Minister Lord Salisbury rejects peace overtures from the Boer leader Paul Kruger as demanding too favorable terms. Japan uses its influence over Korea to deny Russia's efforts to obtain a naval station at Korean Port of Masampo. Recognizing that the war in South Africa is going to take a major commitment, British parliament passes the War Loan Act, calling for £35 million to support the fight against the Boers. Baron Von Ketteler, German Minister, decides to go to the Chinese authorities to demand more guards for European protection from Boxers and is killed by Boxers en route. The Russian Tsar orders that Russian must be the official language of Finland, despite growing unrest within Finland and increasing international concern over Russia's behavior there. And an allied expeditionary force, made up of Japanese, Russian, British, French and American troops, sets off from Tientsin for Peking, China, to put down Boxer rebellion.

It is now the Design Phase. Keep up the good work and help the Pharoah's armies take back what is rightfully ours.
