"Yes, and my name must be 'Gullible-as-Moths'."
"'Bears-Good-Omens' my abdomen." There's no way that's her real name.

Cyryl ignored Sharl as he followed the harpy. "It's nice to meet you Bears-Good-Omens! I hope your day has been as splendid as ours."

"Yes, and my name must be 'Gullible-as-Moths'."
"'Bears-Good-Omens' my abdomen." There's no way that's her real name.
The harpy seemed to take no offence, merely laughing.
"Gyahaha!"
"Didn't you know, darling? A harpy's name reflects what she is. And as I'm bringing such good news..."

Cyryl ignored Sharl as he followed the harpy. "It's nice to meet you Bears-Good-Omens! I hope your day has been as splendid as ours."
"My, nice to meet you too, darling!"
"I can only hope the day will get more splendid as well."

----

The party was lead into Fort Lucille. Around them, stubs of walls jutted randomly from the plains like broken teeth, with only a single small building remaining roughly intact. The fort had been burned long ago, but there was little sign of that now - it was half overgrown. Clusters of young trees sprouted through thick grass underfoot, the occasional stone slab remaining amid the greenery to remind of what it what once.

Two double doors shut the party out of the building. With a flutter of wings, the crow-harpy landed on top of the weathered stone of the fort's bastion.
"The diplomats are waiting inside for you to join them, darlings."

As no one else was moving to open the door, Cyryl took the initiative, confident that things would work out once they were inside. As the door opened inward, Cyryl remembered to announce the lady. "Presenting the esteemed Lady Sen!"

There was no answer as Cyryl opened the door. The room was relatively small, with some simple furniture placed against the sides of the wall, out of the way. On the other side, another door stood, jammed wide open.

The reason why soon became evident - three figures sprawled in pools of blood, lifeless and still, lay on the floor, silent screams still widening gaping lips.

"What-"

A whip-crack of wings sounded from above as the black-feathered harpy burst into the air.

"Sorry, darlings!"
"But General Tholmes is quite eager to ensure cooler heads will not prevail!"

She made distance between her and the party with a few swift beats of her wings, landing near a small copse.

"Lieutenant Gide! I do believe the Vang have so cruelly murdered the diplomats, despite our wishes for peace. Time for you to come in, I think."
"I will get that pardon after this, right?"
"Of course, darling! Orders of the General himself."
"Hmmph. I better." The man raised his voice to bellow to his troops. "Listen up, you scum! Attack! Capture Sen if you can, kill the rest!"

In all directions, men and women emerged from their concealment in the outcroppings of trees, readying weapons!

"Damn! We've been had!" Cyryl turned back to look at Lady Sen. "Milady, I think it would be in our best interest to take what cover we can within these walls. If they think to take us, they probably outnumber us badly."

"In hindsight, trusting someone called 'Bears-Good-Omens' was probably not the best idea...."
Benvolio circles in place, axe at the ready, waiting for orders.

"Take heart Benvolio. We can't be blamed for that. She seemed very trustworthy."

E,5, try to ID the corpse and look for evidence. Of something. Cyryl doesn't know.

"Oh yes, trust the ominous-looking crow from an enemy country leading us and a Large Lord into an enclosed room, alone, calling herself 'Bears-Good-Omens'. I swear to Kanulan, I'm gonna rip that woman's wings off with my teeth..."
Sharl clenches his fists for a moment, before releasing them in a claw-like stance.

Eyes-Like-Gold visibly pales when the spider says what they do, even though she's well aware it's not directed at her, but she doesn't comment.

The party moves to take cover inside the crumbling bastion of the sort. The air inside is thick with the copper-red smell of blood.

Lady Sen remains where she is, sliding a long knife out of a hidden sheath in her sleeve. She looks around, however, as Cyryl turns over the body at his feet. It's a young man with bright red hair and handsome features. A trickle of blood has run from the corner of his mouth, dried to a red-brown crust.

"I recognise him. Paulin Lavigne. He was the son of the Representative to Lillens. "
"That's put paid to any chance of peace for certain. His father will be out for blood."

- Enemy Phase -

Seeing Cyryl blocking the doorway, the northernmost soldier readies her lance and charges.

In a brief clash of spears, the two exchange wounds, Cyryl's better armour allowing him to come off the better of the pair.

The clubman, unable to reach his targets, takes aim at the nearby patch of damaged masonry. Twice, his heavy clubs smashes down on the weathered stonework.

With just two blows, the brute has almost smashed through.
