"I'm doing fine. Hoping the weather holds; foul weather leads to foul tempers. And stiff joints. I have good hopes for the negotiations coming up, though I sometimes wonder if it was a good idea for me to come along."

"I feel like if I do this, maybe I'll get a start in the world, you know? I've never been too far out of the plains. Also, stiff joints, huh? That doesn't sound so pleasant."

"Hmm..."

The truth was Makin didn't really know. The son of a lord, going hungry or lacking for money wasn't something he'd every really experienced. Still, the general concept made sense.

"I suppose. Why did you leave your position back home if it was an assured job then?"

"Oh. Well, I suppose it's because being around there just reminded me of my parents too much. The fever took them. I felt like it was better to just... Find another place. Rather than stay there and constantly be reminded of how much I miss them."

[Swordstar]

"Ah... I'm... sorry?"

He hesitantly pat the man on his armored shoulder, not really sure what else to say to that.

Cyryl shook his head. "It's fine, it's a fair question to ask. Sorry to bring down the mood like that."

[Swordstar]

"Yes, I suppose. Still. Your pain shouldn't be tossed aside lightly. So I am sorry for bringing something like that up even if it's accidentally."

"I'm sure they wouldn't mind too much! Although I'm not them. Maybe some of the antsy people would get a bit defensive. But other than that I'm sure it's fine!"

"No, really, it's fine. As long as I keep them in my thoughts now and again, they're not really gone, and having both of my parents for so long makes me luckier than most. Anyway, how about you? How long have you been serving?"

Aldric nodded.
"Yes, I'm afraid that's been creeping up on me lately. Still, I've tried to keep moving as I've gotten older, so it shouldn't be much of a bother."

"If I may ask, when you mention getting a start, what are you really hoping for?"

"Well, um....it's probably not something I should be telling a complete stranger, to be quite honest. Not that you're, um, a bad stranger, but uh....."

"Fair enough, I didn't mean to pry. I've my fair share of personal topics, as well."

"I don't see why it'd be a problem. Maybe it'll even speed things along."

Above the party, the harpies descended in lazy spirals, until they landed in front of the party.

The black-winged birdwoman took a moment to fold her wings before she gave a shallow bow.

"Hello there, darlings! I imagine you are these chicks' group? Which one of you is Lady Sen?"
"I am. You're part of the Luce delegation?"
"Quite so, my lady, quite so! Excellent to see you. I noticed your harpies fluttering about and thought I'd say hello. This way, please! I'll lead you in."

The harpy begins heading towards the compound for the party to follow.
"I am... Bears-Good-Omens. Pleased to make your collect acquaintances."
