Aldric approached the (sonewhat hostile) spider, but mafe sure to keep a respectful distance.
"Now, there's no need to worry about the mission coming up - pardon this old man for assuming why you snapped a bit back there. Worrying and snapping at the people at your back isn't going to help the outcome, you know. So you may as well attempt to enjoy the trip or what have you."

Sharl sighs again. Yes, Mr. Bellerose.

"Just trying to help. If you care to talk at all, feel free to find me; else, I'll leave you to. . . enjoy the scenery? Brood gloomily?" He smiled a bit, trying to lighten Sharl's mood. He started to walk away, and then stopped for a moment.
"Oh, and feel free to call me Aldric. Or Al, if you care to be that familiar. I haven't been Mr. Bellerose to anyone but the village children in a long time."

[GiglameshDespair]

"Quite so, Cyryl. A war would be bloody for both Vang and Luce, never mind the winner."

The harpy sisters take to the air, the warm summer buoying their wings. Ahead, they can see the fort - a ruined place, overgrown with copses of trees. A small building can be seen built into the ruins of one of the walls, and it's inside there that the meeting will presumably take place. A few armoured figures can be seen, waiting around the perimeter. It seems quite calm, with the Libertians unaware...

With a flap of wings, a black-feathered harpy drops from above. She keeps pace with the pair easily, the thuum of her wingbeats slow and steady.

"Well hello there, darlings! Are you our visitors? Or simply nosy?"

[I_Like_Pi]

Swift-As-Gale resisted the urge to position herself in front of Eyes-Like-Gold.

"We're the former. The rest of our group should be along shortly."

[Twinwolf]

"Right! We’re just checking on the road ahead. Did you seen anything dangerous on the way here?”

[GiglameshDespair]

"My, it's good to see you, then. We're all quite eager to get the negotiations started. I'm sure they will have a wonderful result."
She smiled in a friendly manner towards Eyes-Like-Gold.
"Nothing dangerous, darling, unless you'd count particularly fierce rabbits." She laughed lightly. "There's a centaur tribe maybe eight miles to the west, but they're heading away, and I haven't seen any Vang armies skulking about. No offence, of course, darling."

[Twinwolf]

"None taken! Not an army, so no skulking necessary! Good that there's nothing dangerous on the way, that means the others won't take too long to get here."

[I_Like_Pi]

"I certainly hope they do. Escalting things won't be beneficial for either side."

[Unlurking Sentinel]

Sharl's eyes raise to meed Mr. Bellerose's. Fine then, Aldric. He then looks towards the path ahead, hoping to spot anything interesting.

"So, Cyryl, tell me. How long have you been with the military? I can tell you're used to a weapon but your attitude seems to betray... Youth perhaps."

For his part, Benvolio paces slightly restlessly, waiting for the harpies to return.

"Not that long really. I used to be a guard back home, but I left there about a year ago." Under the circumstances, he didn't feel any need to bring up that 'home' was back in Luce. Details. "I'm just glad I was able to find work again so quickly. It's hard to find odd jobs frequently enough to keep all your equipment in good repair and food in your belly, y'know?"

Aldric nodded, and then left the spider to his watch. Baby steps. He decided to approach the remaining nonhuman in the group - Benvolio, he believed his name was.
"How are you doing, Benvolio?"

"Ah, yes, I see your little band down there. Marvellous."
She dipped slightly in the air.
"Shall we drop in?"
