NAF-SAR-51 "Kotow" (give me a better name and I'll use it) - It's a semi-auto version of the old Enfield, with external gas piston. Includes offset sights and changed stock, to ensue that the bolt doesn't hit the shooter. The rifle features an enlarged magazine of 20 rounds, pistol grip, a bipod doubling as forward grip and a bayonet.

The modification in the video features a trigger that must be physically reset between each round.  Does the Kotow also feature this?

Question:
What kind of round does the Ironcaster use?

So here's a possible tank design for when Toskesh eventually gets a revision voted on:
Future Design: NAF-AFW-51 "Hippo" Hexapod (willing to change the name, and ideas for other things to improve on/how to more specifically upgrade the legs would be nice)
The Armored Fighting Walker Hippo is practically what we've learned from the Paradigm applied to an improved version of the Thatcher.

It utilizes 6 legs and all-encompassing light armor. It's a bit bigger than the Thatcher, allowing for a more comfortable crewing experience (because we all know that's the ultimate goal in military engineering) and more ammo storage. Two mounts designed for weapons similar to the Wickers (though empty for now) are put into place - a coaxial mount in the armor next to the main cannon, and a pintle cupola on top of the main turret. The legs are largely the focus of the AFW, and are aimed to be very much refined over the prototype Paradigm. They're given thin armor and in addition to just generally being improved to operate faster, are given additional mechanical complexity to the point where the AFW-52 should be able to actually properly move in directions more similar to >2-legged animals compared to the more awkward "baby crawling" thing it does now.

And here's a design for a potential helicopter at some point in the future:
Future Design: NAF-UH-5x "Draft" (This is most likely barebones. I think it or another transport helicopter design should be done soon-ish, but we have higher priority things - like an actual tank - beforehand.)
The Utility Helicopter Draft is Nogrania's first helicopter, based off of existing helicopter designs from across the world. It uses a new turboshaft engine in order to provide sufficient reliable power for its operation. It has thin armor to allow it to land in hostile areas, though we recommend that pilots don't try to land it in enemy-infested areas.

In order to serve its purpose, it's a notably large helicopter - the biggest we can still carry with some degree of agility with a single turboshaft engine. It comes equipped with mountings for cargo and people. The Draft is completely unarmed, though there's the possibility for soldiers to shoot out of the flying helicopter. We plan on the Draft being used primarily to transport cargo [TU] amongst the landmass, with a secondary role of transporting troops and equipment for combat efforts.

EDIT: Fixed year of the Hippo, added Hexapod to its name, clarified the pictle mount to be a cupola on top the main turret, and added a coaxial mount. As per Kot's feedback. Also added clarification to the Draft's designation.

You should really look to the wilderness for your stealth ideas, it has been doing it much longer than you have after all. Take squids for example, that ink trick works pretty well, and in water too! So you just sneak into the dam upsteam, dump several megatons of distressed squid into it, then break the dam. Boom, you suddenly have enough water-proof stealth for a whole city!

And here is my future contribution:

M5X S-C/LG"Stagger"
Stagger is a Self-Cocking/Loading Gun. It fires .22 LR rounds from an open bolt position. When trigger is pulled, a latch is pulled which releases the bolt. Bolt catches a catridge, places it into a firing chamber and strikes the primer, firing. Recoil then drives the bolt back. As the bolt moves back, it catches the trigger, pulling it back to ready stance and allowing the latch to catch the bolt again. In order to fire, user must squeeze the trigger again. Weapon has a vertical rum magazine on top, which has feeds rounds into the system. Spent casings are ejected downwards. Trigger mechanism allows user to rapidly squeeze numerous shots in short order.

I'm thinking about us using a couple design phases to make several unique rounds for our anti-tank guns.

Future Design: NAF-NG-31-HE-52 I'm assuming we have basic solid shot artillery and tank shells, AP, so we make a hollow shell case and fill it with fast acting explosives. The trigger mechanism that lights it off is a simple contact explosive in the front tip of the shell. This will be used as anti-personnel.

Future Design: NAF-APDS-52: An armor piercing shell that has a smaller diameter than the barrel of the gun we use it for. The round is 20mm in diameter, is made of a heavy density metal, and has no explosive filler. It is hoised within a set of soft metal petals, which act as a power piston, allowing full gunpowder usage for the round. Once the round leaves the barrel, the petals peel off the round leaving it moving in a straight line at a high velocity. The smaller diameter and faster speed equates to better armor penetration capabilities. But, the lack of explosive filler means that the only dangers to the crew is simple shrapnel or being hit directly. This is meant to be anti-tank.

Final one. For when the Toskesh manage to scrape together an airforce.
Future Design: NAF-NG-31-ABS-52a: An airburst round meant for use as anti-aircraft. It uses a spin timer to detonate in mid air at a preset altitude. It uses high explosive filler to propel shards of metal through the air in the hopes of hitting the fuselage of an aircraft.

Also had an idea for a crank operated field gun.
Future Design: NAF-FG-5X "Liberation" A 20mm cannon with a 1.3m barrel length. The cannon is aimed, both vertically and horizontally by two hand cranks located at the middle and rear of the cannon. The ammunition is kept in box magazines that are loaded into the gun from the side. The firing crank is located on the magazine side of the gun. The loading crank has two points of operation. Halfway loads the round and ejects the previous. Full way primes the firing block for firing. Upon priming the block, the crank locks. Once fired, the crank unlocks allowing for the next round to be chambered.

Put more NMGs on it, since we're resizing it anyway putting at least one in hull should be relatively easy, although ideally I'd want a coaxial one too. Actually, maybe put an machinegun cupola on it, and then a pintle mount. Also, put Hexapod somewhere in the name, so we can create a consistent legs-based naming scheme for vehicles.

@evictedSaint: To what extent may we expect physics to be fudged in this game? Obviously walkers are possible, where IRL they are extremely impractical, but is that the limit of our divergence from reality?
Specifically, I'm asking because IRL various non-fixed-wing lift systems have been tried, and deemed impractical. Are our aircraft endeavours meant to be limited to helicopters, or can we do stuff like, oh, I dunno... this? (Without it being impractical)

Normal: 5

The NAF-SAR-51 "Kotow" is a modification to our existing Enfield Pattern 14 rifle.  The most notable feature is the external gas piston, which wraps around the muzzle of the rifle and extends all the way back to the bolt.  A slide mechanism wraps around the bolt and automatically cycles it when the rifle is fired by using the weapons own gas to operate the piston.  In order to make room for the piston, the sights have been offset to the left side of the gun.  The stock has been redesigned to allow the user to maintain a hold without being struck by the piston, leaning towards a pistol-grip type handle.  A new magazine replaces the previous 5-round load, boosting the round capacity to 21 with 1 .303 round in the chamber.  As an afterthought, a small metal bipod is attached to the wooden frame to allow ease of fire in a prone position, though it doesn't work terribly well as a forward grip or a bayonet.

The gas piston tends to rattle when operated and it's not uncommon for the rifle to jam, though the jams are rather easy to clear.  The gas-capture ring around the muzzle sadly prevents users from mounting bayonets. 1 Ore.

It is now the Strategy Phase.  Please select which two territories to push.  Please select which U.N. resource you want your TC to apply to.
