"That is very unexpected, but I am glad it is not on their hands anymore."

"Well it's all just theory for now. Hopefully I don't have to use it, you know?"

They were then interrupted by a couple of people, but he only needed to respond to one.

"Huh? Oh, ah, yeah! Uh, Ashlyn, this is Angelica. She's offered to help me with training too. I though that it might be nice to have training from a couple different people, right? I mean, you two fight differently since you use different weapons so it can't hurt... Plus I can help her with healing too!"

"Yeah, that makes sense. And we probably have different ideas on how to train you."

Ashlyn extended a hand to Angelica.

"Let's work together, yeah?"

She tossed a pouch to Lysander and grabbed what was essentially a wooden club.

"If you're ready we can start now, Lys."

"That sounds fine to me," she responds, shaking Ashlyn's hand. She then grabs her staff just in case as Ashlyn and Lysander prepare for the training.

For his part, Claude had his notebook out and was writing the unexpected costs that the addition of yet more people to the group brought. If they kept picking up people at that pace, in a year's time he'd have become the logistics officer for Ethan's new mercenary band. He hoped the noblewoman and her retainer didn't have any special requests when it came to accommodations, or even better, that they'd be able to pay for themselves for as long as they remained attached to the crew.

At least he couldn't complain about most of the additions, they seemed perfectly content with what they were provided, or at the very least no one had turned up to complain to him. Which was great, because he'd hit them in the face with his accounting books if they decided to get uppity and demand privileges.

"So Lavinia... Are you sad you didn't get the perfect excuse to brawl a little?"

"Hey steve." You speak into the air.
>Yes?
"Could you guys also make a hamburger out of this arm when they cut it off? I wanted to eat it just for the sake of tasting it."
>That is horrible and disgusting. It will no doubt set you apart and create fear in your team mates. So of course.

Opening up the pouch, Lysander found a handful of carved wooden daggers. Smiling, he attached the pouch to his belt, pulling one of them out before he did.

"Did you make these for me? That's really sweet of you. I... I really appreciate it."

If he was being honest, it had been a long time since someone had given him any sort of gift even if these were intended to help train him. It was still a wonderful gesture as far as he was concerned. Tightening his grip on the dagger, he shifted so his feet were matching her ready stance, arm in front of his face, dagger blade pointed towards her.

"I think this is how I hold it? How do we start this?"

"I'm crying on the inside right now." Lavinia leaned against the wall, watching the others for a moment before turning her attention back to Claude. "How about you? You just looking for a chat?"

"It's no problem, Lys. Gave me something to do, ya know?" She didn't show it, but she was actually relieved that Lysander liked them.

"Well I was thinking we just fight until one of us falls over... Oh! Gimme a sec."

With practised precision, Ashlyn undid the straps and buckles holding her armor in place and set it aside. For good measure, she took off her gauntlets too.

"It wouldn't be fair if you had to get through my armor with those wooden daggers. But, uh, they're still kinda sharp so watch where you aim, please. I'll let you have first strike," she said as she slipped into her stance, looking much smaller without all her armor.

Lysander couldn't help but smile slightly at the sight of her without her armor. She was as skinny as him without all of it. Though thinking about that, it was pretty impressive she could move so easily in all of that with how skinny she was. He was pretty sure he would fall over trying to wear even half of that...

Shaking himself out of his thoughts, he gave her a nod, and then dashed forward with a horizontal slash aimed for her stomach area. He knew he could just throw the knife but that would sort of ruin the whole point of this exercise.

Ashlyn regretted not dulling the wooden knives almost immediately. She hadn't expected Lysander to charge her right off the bat. Maybe after she had rushed him she might've expected a counter but nope. He just rushed right at her and she missed her block. She was actually bleeding a little. Those daggers were definitely getting dulled before next time.

"That stings! You don't actually have noodle arms!"

Rather than try to get some distance from Lysander and his pointy objects of pain, Ashlyn simply swung the club at his side. Even if she'd, stupidly, given him an advantage she knew he wasn't as experienced as her. She didn't want to just crush him.

Lysander froze as she yelled at him, just long enough for the club to land solidly in his side, knocking the wind out of him. Staggering a few steps back, he launched the knife at her, aiming for her arm but mostly just trying to get some space to catch his breath.

"Looking for something to distract me while I take care of accounting. By now it's second nature so I can do it without paying too much attention to it." Claude replied as he kept writing in his notebook.

"Lys and Ashlyn seem to have given us something to watch, though."

Amberly approached Claude nervously.

: "The Abbess just sort of assumed I would be going with your crew, but she can't really force you to bring me on this quest. Will there be any problems with me tagging along for a while longer?"

Claude's gaze moved away from Lysander's training match and to the nun.

"Oh no, Amberly. I might not be the captain, but you've been very helpful and you're likely welcome to stick around until your journey's done."

: "Thank you. I will be ready to leave when Captain Ethan is."

Amberly returned to her seat, feeling cautiously optimistic. She split her attention between studying her new tome and watching Lysander's training.
