Vortai nodded as soon as he received the new task and performed a brief bow to greet the strangers.

"Will do, Abbess. Greetings, my name is Vortai Torrskel."

[Chevaleresse]

"I shall be 'tagging along' as you say. Particularly as you've yet to actually offer any of the proof I've requested. I'm simply interested in ensuring that this orb gets to where it must, and in retrieving the other treasures as needed."

[Haspen]

"Don't worry, I will make sure to sell it to its proper owners. Or at least demand a hefty 'return fee'. You have my word!"

[Chevaleresse]

"I sincerely hope that is a joke. Not that I am particularly keen on joking about matters involving the end of the world as we know it."

[Haspen]

Ethan grimaced and then pulled out a small, rolled up paper from inside his vest.

"You can read it." He opens up the paper but didn't let it go. The paper was a contract between Alvadan Admiralty and Ethan, detailing his priviledges, goals, guarantees and tax cuts for his 'job'.

[Chevaleresse]

Gawen couldn't help but let a faint expression of distaste cross her face - was it really shocking that the noblewoman wasn't fond of discovering they were privateers? - but she quickly smoothed it over as she nodded.
"Very well then. Everything seems to be in order. I'll make no further protests, unless I'm given reason to."

[Zetaark]

"Yes, I tend to lean towards heavier weapons myself. It's a personal preference really,"  she responds before Ethan and the abbess handle matters. Angelica quietly let out a sigh of relief on not being kicked out, and another when Ethan did show proof of their employment to Gawen. The last thing she needed was a fight to break out.


"I suppose this means I'll also be tagging along then."

[Haspen]

Ethan grumbled and hid the paper back into his clothes. The less people knew about the contract, the better.

He then led the others outside, where he motioned Ashlyn and Claude closer.

Ashlyn hid her smug smile as she accepted the orb and maps from the Abbess. And in the end, the noble got her proof so hopefully the matter would stay settled. As they left the House of Scholars she thought now would be a good time to get some practice in with Lysander but Ethan motioned her to the side.

"What is it captain?"

[Zetaark]

Now that they were outside again, Angelica remounted her horse and went towards Lysander.


"Guess we'll be tagging along for a while now. Incidentally, you mentioned that you recently tried to learn how to fight? If you'd like I could offer some assistance. she asks him now that they will be traveling together.

[Swordstar]

"Ah, well, Ashlyn had also offered to help me, but I don't see why you can't both. Especially since she uses axes and I think that swords might be slightly closer to knives? Maybe?"

[Zetaark]

"I don't see why we both couldn't help you. And while swords are a little closer to knives I think, getting experience from other weapon users could be beneficial," she replies in a cheery tone before chuckling a bit.


"That being said, my swords are considerably heavier than the standard knife would be, so the differences are still there. If that doesn't matter too much to you though, I'd be happy to assist your training"

[Swordstar]

"Yeah, I think that would be nice! And if there's anything I can do to help you, please let me know?"

[Zetaark]

"Wonderful! As for something you could do, perhaps you could aid me on some of my own work. I mentioned that I did some work with healing magic earlier,
and having someone else who can use that magic as an aid would be quite nice. Is that acceptable? she asks, hoping her request isn't too unreasonable.

"Oh, of course. Always happy to help with that. Have you been studying healing magic for a long time?"
