As you know, most weapons and armour are composed of bone, bronze, ironwood, obsidian or grey-metal. This gives them a general grade, and a greater expense due to the rarity and difficulty to work such materials. Each type of item also has a specialized use, such that it might alter the flow of combat.
I am thinking different item grades with marginal bonuses but substantially increased cost.
In addition each item has a special ability which can be used once per combat, in addition to other attacks and skills, like a knife getting extra attacks, an axe causing bleeding damage or a medium shield preventing special actions for that turn. Give some extra possibilities and counters that would be consistent even as the grades got better and are in addition to other skills.
Allow them in, but keep them held in the prison at night time to make sure that they are not infected.
Would you like me to "interview" the peasants, or keep them in comfort?
"Thank you, oh great and merciful king of these lands."
Banann moves to the side where different circles of guild members gather. He moves toward the table with a sign of a gold sack above. There he finds the person he was looking for - Voidslayer, the great merchant and treasurer of this kingdom.
"oh, noble Voidslayer, I come from far lands where currency is different than here. Could you explain how much is 150 pieces of gold wort in these lands?"
While a single gold coin can have enough value to allow a peasant to eat for a year, it still often is much too low to buy weapons and armour a knight such as yourself would deem themselves to ride to battle in.
Bone items are the most common, often among the varied tribes but crafted by our own peasants as well. They cover a variety of wooden, soft metal and stone weapons as well. A single gold coin would be enough to equip a bone weapon, armor and a few other low quality items.
Copper items go for around a single gold each, with a few items being multiples, and ironwood and up are... more expensive. A greymetal longsword once cost for the treasury of another kingdom.
Once we have determined what kinds of items we have around we can work out the details.
I am thinking weapon, armor, two combat items and two utility items would be a good way to determine what someone might be equipped with when adventuring around.
