Youch..

Foxform.
1. Move SW and NW
2. Move SW and NW
3-5. Charge Power Within.

Just curious, where did the Power Within counter go? I haven't seen it for a while. Also, in prior encounters, how much essence would we have obtained, and would it be enough to remove an Agony?

Work on a potential forum game for my return to Bay12. Figure out parts that puzzled me before. Find more things to figure out that I can't. Work on another game instead of solving them. Get distracted and stop working. Remember it a week or two later. Remember I'm still on hiatus. Illogically, Be too ashamed to return yet. Repeat ad nauseam.

Finally have a game completely ready. Wait a week before posting it out of laziness.

1. Move SE
2. Move S
3. Move SW
4. Early Reaping on Harvest idol
5. Ability cooldown
Shorn, if you're gunna attack this turn (although idk if that's a smart idea...) I could early reaping sooner, although preferably not before frame 3.

Ahhh, alright, I was under the impression that they only did that when they didn't have an appropriate target.

Basic enemies, yes, they'll typically be happy with killing whoever is next to them. Well, maybe not in this case, since Shorn is kind of being a difficult target.

Yeh yeh, understandable. It feels like it weakens the nature of pattern based combat when it's like "The exceptions to them following their patterns is in the following circumstances: All." But I guess some balance needs to be found for target difficulty.

Quite.  I can either allow combat to be completely cheesed by rolling back and forth while companions poke, or I can kill some PCs and induce stress aneurysms in the players themselves.

You can understand my decision.

What's interesting is that this system strengthens rare/boss type units beyond simple stat boosts. Fights don't really last long (you're already more than half-way through this one) which likely means that you'll get through the fight before learning every pattern or seeing every ability. Which is probably fine, since the alternative is to kill you multiple times and force you to repeat the encounter, which seems like a bad option for the PbP medium.

Under the very crude system I was using to estimate it, you would have gained 15 each from the first set of 5 knife bandits, and then 17 or 19 (depending on how I break things) from 3 knives and 2 axes.

Curing your current agony would cost...  6+10 to get to max HP. Then 4+14 to remove the agony. So, all told, 34 essence to get back to 25% HP and only one agony. Assuming you don't get hit again.

That seems fairly reasonable, considering the essence you'll get from killing the boss.

I completely failed to answer this question. In order to avoid constantly questing down into the depths of the charsheet section, I changed the 'enemies' spoiler to 'units' and included the players in that block. Any effects or charges you have are listed there by --> Tags.

It's clearly sick of my shit and gunning for you, so I could probably attack at will or try to make obnoxious move actions. I only have three frames this round, though, else I'd be using Unspeakable Revelation.

1. Windup Light
2. Light Attack: Right Slash SE
3. Move SE
4. Staggered
5. Staggered

Shove mechanics are:
Well, because it came up this round, I give you the shove mechanic!

If you're trying to move through someone, whether because of a move action or a weapon movement, there's a shove check. A shove check is a 1d(Vit+10)+Pot vs 1d(Vit+10)+0.5*Res. If it succeeds, the defender is shoved a space in the direction the attacker is going. If it fails, the defender's action is interrupted and they lose the movement/attack.

You can't shove using a dodge roll. If you're in a position where your dodge roll would shove someone, you roll in place instead.
Idol's Res is 5. I dunno what its Vit is, but with 70 hp I'm not super confident in our ability to move it.

The Harvest Idol spins, swinging its Scythes in tight spirals. Each spiral is faster, and they begin to trail faint crackles of red lightning as bladed dance accelerates. A scythe blade skips off Shorn's armor, forcing him back slightly but not harming him.

It does give the Eldritch knight an excellent perspective to watch as more darkness dribbles up from the field, forming something curiously akin to a storm cloud that whirls above the spinning idol.

Ah, a moment of respite. No blood shed, no bodies broken, no minds torn apart by unspeakable pain. Perhaps this is the beginning of wisdom, perhaps you're beginning to understand what this thing and how little chance you stand against it.

Or perhaps not. Arrogance and foolishness are mother and father to both heroism and disaster.

Hum. So winters wrath centered the attack based on where the stage one landed... So maybe this will be a giant burst around it... Or not, I guess it could be anything, even a ranged attack. At any rate, getting offline seems like a good idea.

1. Heavy attack 13-12 with train robbers dynomite
2. Defensive Roll S
3. Defensive Roll finish
4. Light attack on 12,12
5. Light attack cooldown

Fortunately, Shorn, the only one not out of range of the lightning burst, is an occupant of that eye.

And so the dance continues. Sickle and Sword, God and Man. Can you see the pattern here? Can you feel the trap that time and fate have woven for you? The Farmer needs to keep his land peaceful, so he creates the soldier- a creature that consumes and kills, but does not know how to grow. It is inevitable that the soldier will turn against him.

I think you can complete the analogy yourself, and deduce the inevitability of your struggle- the inevitability of man turning against his Gods.

Dang, 2 many 2.

Hum. Tough to know what to do this turn.

Do bosses have access to previous stages patterns pools?

Of course, they could just have identical patterns in each pool, but if they don't always have access to previous patterns then it might shift my decision a bit.

No, they don't always have the same patterns. Each stage has its own set of patterns.

Overall, I would say that each stage of a boss fight will usually share 50% of the patterns from the stage before.
