Startled by the screams, Tohil decides to go north, where the noise comes from.

As the most obviously at risk of foolhardy actions, I'm sticking with following Bob
I could, of course, be wrong.
"WAAAAAAAAAAAGGGHHHH!!!"

(But Dwain's already got his priorities. No change until things go obviously fubar, on this other track.)

('Sokay, that's what turn order rolls are for . . . )

Hmm, dustywayfarer hasn't been on the forums for a week.  That's inconvenient, but nonetheless is totally a normal thing that normal healthy people would be encouraged to do.  (I mean, seriously, have you seen these Dwarf Fortress players?  Crazy.)  So I'm thinking that Louis might wind up guarding the wheelbarrows if I don't hear something soon.

Previous -- Next

Yes, proceeding.

Spoiler: Combat round order (click to show/hide)

. . . John, Alyssa Alpine, Dwain, Dustan, the standing jellyfish, Gary, Tohil, Bob.

(Which means disappointment and/or relief, as appropriate.)

John and Dwain regard the situation calmly.  A familiar-looking creature is waiting in ambush.  Dustan prepares his sling; with adequate cues, Alyssa quickly follows suit, and the opening barrage begins!

Alyssa's throw goes wide, but Dustan's cracks a hefty impact against the bulbous body, and it begins to descend from its hiding place.  Tentacles unwrap from below with slow menace.

Gary seems overwhelmed with the power of the war hammer, and lets loose a "WAAAAAAAAAAAGGGHHHH!!!" before charging ahead of the group.  The standing jellyfish lashes out!

Perhaps you are moving too quickly for it, as the standing jellyfish's leading tentacle flings past your shoulder and strikes a harmless target; the nearby corpse.  Sure hope it's got taste buds on that thing, because this is the last taste it's ever going to get!

You strain yourself to the point of pulling muscles, swinging that hammer until it hits something with substance.  Legs, body, who cares?  Soon enough you've toppled it to the ground!

Standing jellyfish A has been struck down!

. . . Say, what's that coming along the tunnel now?

Bob had been planning to pitch a rock at that first jerk, but it looks like there's a second jerk.  It'll do.  You miss, sure, but there are always more rocks.

. . . I know that Dustan (Dustan Hache) had expressed an interest in stopping other people from approaching, but I figured that a sling toss so close to Gary (Coolrune206)'s charge meant he didn't have time to try very hard.  Well, at least one of them's dead.

"get out of the way if you don't want to be spare parts, Gary!"
wind up and launch another rock at the second jellyfish, regardless of Gary. Give him a chance to move out of the way, though.

My help is not apparently needed (as long as levels of self-destruction don't increase). Continue shadowing Bob, just for the hell of it, looking over his shoulder and ready to intervene.

(I can't actually do much to stop Doctor Death stoning Gary to death, if things go durian-shaped.)

Gary, glancing at the approaching foe, is struck with a genius idea! He slams his warhammer into the body of the newly dead jellyfish, sending the corpse flying at the other creature. He then goes prone and covers his head, hoping to not die to friendly fire.

"If only we had a weapon that couldn't hit our allies..."

Throw my Phasestrike Javelin at the second jellyfish.

Fling stones in the direction of the jellyfish monster to help fight.
"What the hell is that thing?"

(Oh please, I'm a doctor! He won't die if I decide to opperate on him to extract his organs. If I wanted him dead, I'd just kill him here!)

Wait, are you sure?  I'm fairly certain you retrieved it after it was lost in a previous scene.  I've got it back on your character sheet, in any case.

But other than that, I think we have everyone but Louis (dustywayfarer) again.  Hmm.  Should I send a private message?

Then next turn John will magically find his sling.
