(/imagines Sir Knight's reaction to this latest entertainingly mixed-message sequence of intents.  :P)

I continue to tag along, now with this multipurpose posse, seeing how far this goes.

Okay, now just waiting on Louis (dustywayfarer), who has plenty of health back and should feel up to more peril.  Or, you know, deliberately avoiding more peril.

My thoughts on the scene got dramatically different results for a small number versus a large number of people going north.  We'll, uh, see what random numbers and such have to say.  (Also, I sent you a private message.)

Hmm.  Well, it is the weekend.  If I don't hear from Louis (dustywayfarer) by the week, I'll assume he sticks to resting for the time being and prepare results for everyone else.

Previous -- Next

Okay, I'll advance for now.  The key things here are gonna be who spots what . . .

Grumble, grumble.  Bob's profound sense of dissatisfaction with crafted goods gets the better of reason--or, perhaps, provides the dissatisfaction with an outlet of complete reasonableness.  To wit: violence.

Bob stalks off north through the camp.  Here he passes Tohil, praying in the morning "sun."  Well, it has to be the sun, right?  You mean, there's a hole in ceiling of the sinkhole up there somewhere: that glow has to be the reflected light of sunrise.  So you lay down your surplus warhammer, sit for awhile, and pray.

Louis, still recovering, is the only other exile who sticks around.  Everyone else trails the mad (angry or crazy?) mason.

Beyond the mined wall, Bob promptly spots the blood and decayed gore.  Argh, is everything killable already dead?  All you see are some weird poles standing up in the nearby narrow tunnel.  You can't kill poles, now can you?!

. . . Dustan, having personally killed the standing jellyfish on the floor over there, knows what's waiting up by the ceiling above those "poles."  Now it's up to you to judge what to do with this knowledge.

Dwain seems distracted, and, despite having spotted the creature earlier, is in the dark about what's going on now.  Gary likewise sees nothing--but hey, you found this neat warhammer on the way!

And making up the rear of the charge, Alyssa and John don't actually see the creature itself, but see that Dustan sees it.  Something in the west . . . ?

It's always weird to roleplay based on some people "knowing" what others "don't," but we are talking about a hidden and stationary critter.  So there you go.

point at those poles, and try to strike it with a rock launched from my sling. DO NOT ALLOW THE OTHERS TO GET CLOSE TO THE JELLYFISH BY ANY MEANS POSSIBLE.
"Watch those poles, they're legs to a nasty and poisonous creature!"

(My attention is more on Bob than the rest. I'm responding to Dustan "There's at least one more, behind it...", but until I see what Bob does (the whole reason I'm up here) I'm deferring on my own action.)

"Poisonous like ant lemmings and ant lions? Because we may need to draw them out. Oh, Dustan, here's my Javelin,
you won't have to worry about hitting me with it.
"

Hand my Phasestrike Javelin to Dustan, then get some of my Antivenin ready and go get ambushed by a standing jellyfish. (i.e. go walk between the legs.) If (when) I get ambushed, grab the jellyfish and hold it in place.

"we don't need to draw them out, they're already exposed. Just pelt them from afar and watch out for the tentacles when they start to react. They sting if you touch the skin or tendrils."

((I just realised that I'd somehow skipped over Bob(/magmaholic)'s contribution that I was waiting for, just prior to the post that I said I was doing that.  Well, throwing rocks is probably Ok. As far as Bob is concerned, I'm mostly unconcerned.))

As the most obviously at risk of foolhardy actions, I'm sticking with following Bob, primed to intervene. Anybody else still rushing the creatures are on their own, but I'm standing off. It's either shooting fish in a barrel, and they don't need me, or a xenomorph hunt where being ready for surprises from elsewhere would be better tactics.

"Ah, okay."

Use my sling to pelt the area indicated by Dustan with rocks.

I like it.  Just pitch rocks at the thing.  Like poking it with a stick, but with more of a sense for self-preservation.

(It's been rare that the players ever had the drop on my monsters.  Enjoy it while it lasts . . . )

Now waiting on Tohil (randomgenericusername), Gary (Coolrune206), and (hopefully) Louis (dustywayfarer).  Back later!

"WAAAAAAAAAAAGGGHHHH!!!"

Gary screams a war-cry, interrupting his allies' careful planning, then charges blindly through the west passage,
striking at anything that moves.
