I mean, seriously-- Allow the states to go bankrupt? Is he fucking insane?

States legally can't go bankrupt under current law.

I'm not sure how to break this to you, but the law is actually imaginary.

Now as someone who actually both lives in New York and actually has worked for many years for the board of elections, while I can't give you anything but my own contacts to cite, rumour has it that the Department of Elections was hit exceptionally hard by the epidemic, which makes a lot of sense given the demographics of that office in particular, which is heavily skewed to older individuals, those in poor health, and minorities. Again this is the word on the election worker grapevine and our supervisor.

Apparently Andrew Yang is suing New York over the primary thing.
Damn, good on him.
Are we going full Wisconsin now? Uh, let me volunteer your states to go and do that first, how about, instead of putting mine on the line. You're quite welcome to make the ultimate sacrifice for the democratic process.

As in, making people go out and vote in person in the middle of a pandemic.

This sounds like a stupid idea. Absentee ballots exist for a reason, as does the mail

Yes, but the people in charge keep recommending that you go out because they want to kill off as many poor people as possible. Shit, both major-party presidential candidates keep suggesting people should go out, because they hate the people here.

As of today, 52 cases have been linked to people who voted or worked during the election in Wisconsin (Not including the people they infected, obviously, which could be significantly larger). Assuming the deathrate is 2%, statistically, one of those people will die. Republicans in the legislature successfully blocked the Governor from delaying or cancelling the election, which was then backed by the Wisconsin Supreme Court (one of whose members was on the ballot in said election) and then the US Supreme Court. This from the state government which was so incensed by a non-republican winning the governorship that the state legislature passed (and Scott Walker signed as he was leaving office) to limit the incoming governor's powers.

The liberal challenger proceeded to defeat the incumbent SC justice, in a fit of irony. Sadly irony won't help the people who catch the virus.

Yes but have we tried injecting irony directly in to our eyeballs?
