Everyone collectively feels a slight chill down their spines. In the corner of the room, a smal pile of dust is swirling, growing shadows around it. The bisected man groans slightly.

You run over to the dust vortex and jab at it with your spear.

The shadow around the vortex is growing, rising up from the whirling to form a blob of shadows above it.

Lyssha:

Seeing the blob of shadows, you decide to whack it with your staff while Juniper is preoccupied with the vortex.

While waving your staff wildly around the blob of shadows, you connect with something solid within it. The blob emits a high pitched wail as shadows start creeping up the staff towards your arms.

Gasozein:

You cleave at the shadows. Do shadows split apart when you hit them with a sword? Only one way to find out!

Your sword cleaves through the ball of shadows, slicing through it as it emits another high pitched wail that grates at your ears.

A side effect of your powerful blow is that your sword is now embedded hilt-deep in the floor! Oh no!

The shadow snakes up Lyssha's arm, the skin it touches bursting into pain, as if the flesh itself was melting off the bone.

The lines on Juniper's hands are completely burning up! When she looks at them, the lines are so bright as to be blinding to look upon! Furthermore, everyone else can now see the lines!
