The shadow continues to envelop you, and has caressed your mouth open, beginning to flow inside.

Saevire:

Hooray, you don't have a migraine anymore! Hooray, you have a concussion instead!

[Saevire has a concussion! -2 to all mental rolls]

Gasozein:

As you grab onto the shadow, searing pain courses through your hands.

You yelp and jump back, staring at your hands. What the hell was that?!

Lyssha:

You take your staff and strike the vortex from which the shadow eminates.

The shadow screams, emitting a horrible high pitched wail!

[Juniper will: 2]
[Saevire will: 2-2]
[Gasozein will: 6]
[Lyssha will: 1]
[Sayla will: 5]

You, Juniper, and Saevire fall to the ground, writhing as your hands clutch your ears from the wail. Gasozein and Sayla remain standing.

Fortunately, the shadow has released Juniper, whose hands are now glowing so brightly they are painful to look upon.

Sayla:

You miss, utterly and completely! In addition, your axe is now embedded in the ground!

Screaming in pain, Lyssha flails at the vortex, striking wildly

Juniper desperately slaps at the shadow with her glowing palm, screaming every possible incantation her rather detached mind can think of.

"Magic Missile! Healing Hands! Super magical serpent pain thingy that Malthus used! Murder dust vortex! Anything!"

Throw open the ceiling hatch. Hopefully it's light enough outside that the light will come in and disrupt the shadow. If it's night, let's hope that the storm has abated and the moon is out.

Now that I think about it, I guess darkness might be kind of disruptive to a shadow too. Oh well. Let's find out.

Sayla:

You yank the axe out of the ground, falling on your butt as you do so. You attempt to get another swing in on the string, but doing so is a little difficult when you're rolling about on the ground.

Saevire:

As your head brushes against the shadow, it feels as if someone had doused your skin in oil and set it alight! Moreover, your head bump has done nothing but make you fall flat on your face, as the shadow begins inching towards you.

Lyssha:

[dex: 3+2]

Flailing out with your staff, you strike the vortex, disrupting the swirl of dust and shadows. The shadow falls over, screaming in what is obviously agony.

[Lyssha will: 2]
[Saevire will: 5-2]
[Juniper will: 5]
[Gasozein will: 6]
[Sayla will: 3]

This time, everyone but you manages to grit their teeth through the screech, though Sayla and Saevire stumble a little bit.

[Lyssha, Sayla, and Saevire are under the effect of the wail! Effect: Unknown]

Juniper:

You press your hands into the shadow, screaming incoherently until you say a word, lost to you through your screaming. The shadow weakens, its darkness fading as it becomes more transparent.

Gasozein:

Unfortunately the hatch is a little too far up in the celing to be able to reach. Also, it's a window so opening it would only let the rain in at this point in time.

I can't jump and bust it out of the ceiling with the tip of my greatsword? I thought we were here to do as much property damage as possible? Or maybe it was to make money, whatever.

Strike the weakened shadow with my sword, being very careful not to hit any of the others by accident. I'll take a penalty to hit if it'll make friendly fire less likely.
