As you begin examining the man's wounds, he continues babbling at you

"Thepricethepricethepricethepricethepricethepricethepricethepricethepricethepricethepricetheprice..." He grabs onto you leg. "I was once a mage. It seems like it was thousands of years ago, but I had power. If I had power I could fix this. But I have paid the price. Thepricethepricethepricethepricethepricethepricetheprice..." He looks up into your eyes. "And I cannot die! Please! Kill me!"

As far as you can tell, he's perfectly stable. He's not bleeding out, and when you look into his torso you can see his internal organs glistening.

Sayla:

You follow the path upward, until you reach a wall with a stone button on it. When you press the button, the ceiling slides away, revealing the room in the cabin with the chamber pot in it.

Lyssha:

From the path with the rune you sense the direction up. From the unmarked path you sense the direction down.

Juniper:

Unsurprisingly, nothing happens. Not even your hands heat up this time.

Exit the cottage and make my way back to whoever was in charge. Tell them I found something valuable.

You wake up just in time to hear the bisected man start screaming at Gasozein again.

"I have seen the other side, and there is nothing there! Nothing! But nothing is better than this! Please kill me!"

Juniper:

You see Sayla exit the cabin, and so you go over to follow her.

Lyssha:

You take the unmarked path, and it leads you down deep into the earth. When you reach the end, you find yourself in a cavern filled with decrepit mining tools strewn about on the floor. Picks and shovels line the floor, gathering dust and cobwebs.

Sayla:

As you exit the cabin, Juniper moves over to greet you.

Technically, Malthus is in charge on this mission, but you haven't seen him since he flew into the woods. You could tell Juniper that you found something valuable.
