The killswitch is mostly for if you go absolutely crazy with the Glory of it all. I'm hoping you won't sabotage the experiment without good reason. There's a bright future in it for you if all goes well!
I'd figured that, I was thinking more along the lines of someone else sabotaging your work and, incidentally, blasting my brain into bits.

OPERATION: GARDEN OF DELIGHTS
...
Step Four: meet with the subject and conduct some brain scans on the first day, check for anomalous readings. Impress upon them the need to remain in control at all costs, which should hopefully help stave off horrible side effects.
I can do that. Attempt to keep control of myself at all costs. This is also probably a great time to start a diary, so do that as soon as I'm capable of doing so.

23 days until deadline.

Automatic research

Your patient study reveals a perfect dielectric material for your capacitors. It is a tad hard to produce in precise measurements required and you are pretty sure you need a vacuum for construction of final product. Any extra oxygen and nitrogen will only cause problems. Or so the theory goes.

Other good process today is discovery and correction of flaw in your brain copy procedure. It had minor chance to produce corrupted copy which most likely would be non-functional or mentally ill in some ways. It's good you found that out before using procedure on anyone important!

Meshanite production line will be ready on tomorrow morning.

But it's not all good news today. Your simulated test subject is starting to show schizophrenic behaviour. You ask your agent to find out if your simulated man had existing mental disorderds. He'll get back at you as soon as he finds something.

Well do that then.

Your rapidfire experiments reveals quickly most optimal spots for your brand new and improved chips. While you are doing that you start contemplating extra uses for your MMI technology. For example the mind merging tech could be reasonably easily archieved with modified MMI. Or you could slave few brains for traditional computers to use as an additional computing resource. A wetware computer effectively. Or even extending your brain power with array of wetware computers!

Or, think about this, after you win the permanent employment you could put brains of each your rivals into an array and multiply your super genius level of intelligence by seven!

OPERATION: GARDEN OF DELIGHTS

Step Two: As soon as the subject can be moved safely, doesn't require IVs and is noticeably imprinted on me, move them off-site to a trailer outfitted like a nice-looking apartment complete with arrangements equal in quality to their recovery bed. Establish a maximum security perimeter of 1 mile around the trailer.

Step Three: already done.

Step Four: meet with the subject and conduct some brain scans on the first day, check for anomalous readings. Impress upon them the need to remain in control at all costs, which should hopefully help stave off horrible side effects.

OPERATION: ALL-SEEING EYE

Step Three: Replace the two expired subjects with more - see if I can link them up to the same hive mind that the five remaining ones possess, and how exactly this works out. Check what the issue might be with the interaction between treatments and how I would offset the fatality rate.

OPERATION: MOUSEWATCH 2016

Step Four: outfit mice with more sophisticated brain tracking software to hopefully understand what's activating and happening with them.

Step Five: the design applied to the nuked mouse - make a new test group with the same design. Three more modules if possible, plus adequate tracking.

Step Six: GOTO STEP ONE, resume observation.

OPERATION: GARDEN OF DELIGHTS

Your volunteering man is moved into safely far away into middle of forest somewhere, although getting him brain scans means bringing him back daily. Can't power MRI with a simple diesel generator. But initial brain scans show nothing unusual beyond your modifications. Neurons are growing nicely along their protein scaffolds.

OPERATION: ALL-SEEING EYE

I assume you replaced expired ones yesterday as soon as their failure was noticed. But you add two more because why not? They should link up nicely as long as their chips use same channel. But how does the hive mind react with additional brains being added is something you do not know. It's going to be interesting to see. As well as what happens when brains are removed from collective. How about merging two hiveminds? Like, have two hiveminds and separate few individuals from each by tuning them to third channel. What happens to individual who's completely separated from hivemind back to their lonely human existance?

Those are experiments for future. Currently the seven original members are starting their merger process. It seems to proceed within known parameters. All good here. They should be fully useable tomorrow.

OPERATION: MOUSEWATCH 2016

Regarding step five, I was under impression the first mice was running the original design. Results should be the same regardless. But if you want more of original, that's fine too. But you build tiny mouse sized MRI variation for them. It isn't as good as full fledged version but should help you.

Now these three others with modified designs... Mouse 1, henceforth known as M1, who had alterations to direct brain to brain connectivity (DBBC) suddenly without warning goes all boom just like the very first Glorious test subject. And just as well it takes observering assistant with it. Another nice hole on ground.

M2 which had alterations on part allegedly dealing with matter causes the usual hallucinated light show; gates of pure light, beings of light appearing out of nowhere and walking through walls. M2 is terminated via excessive microwave radiation before anything else can happen.

M3 has alterations on the least understood part of Terrible Glory module. It does nothing unusual for a mouse with doubled brain size. Its appetite is reduced, but remains above avarage. Nothing anomalous is observed, but that itself can be thought as somewhat anomalous.

It is very nice to obey the man. Everything is fine. Provided porn is fine too. Feel free to write your own journal because everything is fine and nothing is going to go wrong. Ever. You'll be the man, the unbeatable psi soldier!

((You got the chimera correct!))

Today I continue work on my combat bodies, focusing on anatomical changes that seem useful for all three, like improved muscle retention without exercise, or less vulnerable brain placement. Evolution has left me quite a few loose ends to clean up here.

Evolution also has made some impressive things, but scattered them on the most useless creatures. For example have you heard about Mantis Shrimp? Fantastic little bugger.

I'm telling that because you spend too much time on internet chuckling at idiots removing themselves from human gene pool. Some smart person appears to be commenting same videos with equal delight.

Your agent asks if you could set up mass production for your rapid regeneration injections. Or you could give them instructions and The Company build production line on their own. This technology is very promising and they could make use of it more widely.

Construct a small shrine out of precariously balanced D&D dice in the assistants' R&R room.

OPERATION: GARDEN OF DELIGHTS

Step Four, cont'd: do EEGs and MEGs as well as regular MRIs and fMRIs on the subject, gotta get as much data as possible! Compare these against the same scans done on me, the All-Seeing Eye subjects and my lab assistants.

Step Five: supplement subject's data entry duties with cognitive and psychological testing, check for any perceptual distortions and other oddities before critical period begins. Support the idea of keeping a journal of relevant experiences.

OPERATION: ALL-SEEING EYE

Step Three, cont'd: get three new hivemind subjects, same treatments. These will be the test group for later integration.

Step Four: perform in-depth high resolution microscopy on expired subjects' brain tissue to determine exact cause of death and identify which treatments are the most likely to have interacted poorly.

OPERATION: MOUSEWATCH 2016

Step Seven: compare the scale of the effects between mice and human beings. In addition, any differences in the content of observed phenomena?

Step Eight: relax the fuckery standards a little. Only nuke mice when physical manifestations begin to appear.

Step Nine: see if I can't insert an electrode into the experimental mice that would stop their hearts on command. If this is successful, don't use the MRI and instead image the mouse brains post-mortem with a method like CLARITY, where the brain tissue is prepared after death, put in an acrylamide gel and specially rendered transparent for in-depth microscopy. See if this approach gets better imaging data.

With the journal I meant for it to be more of a log of any curious events as strange things start happening to my brain, though I may add a couple of things myself when I feel like it. With that said, keep the whole 'control' thing in mind. And just chill, I guess.

22 days until deadline.

Everybody receives a message from The Company supersoldier project leader.

"Greetings to all our good super genius scientists!

As a reminder for you all, we are nearing the halfway point of our project. I have heard excellent news from number of your agents! Some very interesting technologies have been created that have much potential outside scope of this project. As it stands now, we are prepared to make contracts with additional scientists after this project is done, especially with those with most promising technologies in their hands.

We are hoping you can set few minutes of your time aside and write us a situation report before next week starts. What you have done so far, what you think you will archive, how you feel so far working with our company, your expectations, dreams and hopes, what kind of projects you are hoping to work with us if you win this friendly contest and so on.

However if you think writing such report distracts you from more important work, then don't feel obligated to. Regardless, I'm hoping to receive interesting letters to read.

Sincerely, Dr. Skinner."

The problem with construction of your super capacitors is solved along with a design error that would have caused catastropic failure during recharge.

A little bit of process is made on front of simulating emotions. Almost there, just a bit more and it will be like fully natural human brain.

On other note, state of the brain in quantum simulation worsens rapidly until it completely shuts down. All attempts to restart it fails. Even after loading brain of second subject the quantum brain fails to start up. Something's up there.

Alright, start on a system that slaves several brains as servants of a master brain.

Right. If you want to use human brains as computational resources the first thing to do is to ensure humans themselves won't cause any problems. That means you need to effectively erase what makes them individual -that's memories and consciousness- without damaging brain too much. Memories are encoded into neurons, so that requires disruption. Consciousness very standardly fades to near non-existance during non-dream sleep which provides you an avenue to further your studies.

With the journal I meant for it to be more of a log of any curious events as strange things start happening to my brain, though I may add a couple of things myself when I feel like it. With that said, keep the whole 'control' thing in mind. And just chill, I guess.

Right'o. See below, operation garden of delights.

See if this approach gets better imaging data.

OPERATION: GARDEN OF DELIGHTS

That's a lot of very expensive and heavy equipment. Luckily you made your requests well ahead of time so The Company were able to provide them. Well, scans are pretty much normal for someone with new neurons rapidly growing in his brain. Activity is within preset limits and nothing unusual there yet. Late on the night he writes on his tablet having feeling of "hearing", but he can't really explain it any better.

OPERATION: ALL-SEEING EYE

Three more hivemind modules made and installed. I assume their modules are tuned to different channel than previous bunch of this operation?

The two you added yesterday are connecting to the "collective" today. Reactions are interesting to watch. All connected subjects lose their focus and ability to fine body control, the original seven suffering most clear effects. This period of unstability lasts about hour before they start get better.

Your study of corpses reveals nothing new, unfortunately.

OPERATION: MOUSEWATCH 2016

Physical effects of two mouse activations and one human activation are very much same. Volume of matter erased from existance varies within very small margin, we are talking about millimeter differences, but with so few points of data you cannot really say anything about it. The only real difference was the M1 which did not cause hallucinations.

About step eight: You didn't confirm anything either way about new mouses, do they use original design or one of the modified. But relaxing nuking point to that far means that by time anyone realizes physical manifestations are about to happen, it is already too late to do anything about it.

You make that killer electrode, but what you want to find from those brain scans? Or from mice experiments? Do not mistake me for piecewise, I know very little about brains.

Oh, and that one mouse, using Terrible Glory type M3 is still alive and past its expiration date, completely lacking any type of abnormal fuckery.

Today's a good day to work with designing DNA for monsters. You complete the designs and include the rapid regenerative healing function directly into their build, but limited to available extra resources so they won't burn their own muscles to rebuild cut of arm. Hardened skin, adaptive temperature management and other little things to make them better.

Now you need to create first cell, sink them in nutrient slurry and watch how they fully regenerate themselves from single cell.

Attempt to continue working.

OPERATION: GARDEN OF DELIGHTS

Step Six: the calm before the storm. Impress the need to stay in control in the subject, and impress it well.

OPERATION: ALL-SEEING EYE

Step Five: run the same tests I did at the start of the experiment, testing the success of improved reaction times and learning ability.

OPERATION: MOUSEWATCH 2016

Step Nine, cont'd: the idea is to check how the neurons have grown and what the connections turned out to be according to my working theory of nervous system design. Do they match predicted growth processes? Compare all groups of mice with the human subject's growth across many models, utilize working neuron theory to get a model of the neuronal control mechanism - for instance, what synapses activate it - stimulatory, inhibitory, modulatory, some other type or even some heretofore unseen kind.

In essence, analyze Terrible Glory from microscopic data on how the neurons have connected to the module and combine this with fMRIs and EEGs of living implanted mice (including the nonfunctional one) to get a clearer picture of what exactly is happening in their brains. Hook a mouse with a no-explosion design to an EEG and keep it well fed, checking brain electrical activity.

Step Ten: replicate the model design that didn't allow physical manifestations. Derive potential functionality of associated neurons and integrated modules based on current understanding of brain workings.

SITUATION REPORT:

Achievements: working theory of nervous system design and understanding, makes for easy design of brain implants with relatively high success rates and relatively minimal rejection. A basic hive mind has been developed, but has low multitasking capability in current edition. Several basic treatments increasing basic cognitive and neurological parameters have been shown to work. A working method for hardwired brainwashing has also been developed. Finally, Terrible Glory - high destructive potential, but poorly understood.

Research directions: understanding Terrible Glory, developing working model on harnessing cranial sorcery, combining with hive mind technology, iterating on hive mind technology, integration of all technologies into a working whole.
