Your patient study reveals a perfect dielectric material for your capacitors. It is a tad hard to produce in precise measurements required and you are pretty sure you need a vacuum for construction of final product. Any extra oxygen and nitrogen will only cause problems. Or so the theory goes.
Other good process today is discovery and correction of flaw in your brain copy procedure. It had minor chance to produce corrupted copy which most likely would be non-functional or mentally ill in some ways. It's good you found that out before using procedure on anyone important!
Meshanite production line will be ready on tomorrow morning.
But it's not all good news today. Your simulated test subject is starting to show schizophrenic behaviour. You ask your agent to find out if your simulated man had existing mental disorderds. He'll get back at you as soon as he finds something.

Well do that then.
Your rapidfire experiments reveals quickly most optimal spots for your brand new and improved chips. While you are doing that you start contemplating extra uses for your MMI technology. For example the mind merging tech could be reasonably easily archieved with modified MMI. Or you could slave few brains for traditional computers to use as an additional computing resource. A wetware computer effectively. Or even extending your brain power with array of wetware computers!
Or, think about this, after you win the permanent employment you could put brains of each your rivals into an array and multiply your super genius level of intelligence by seven!

OPERATION: GARDEN OF DELIGHTS
Step Two: As soon as the subject can be moved safely, doesn't require IVs and is noticeably imprinted on me, move them off-site to a trailer outfitted like a nice-looking apartment complete with arrangements equal in quality to their recovery bed. Establish a maximum security perimeter of 1 mile around the trailer.
Step Three: already done.
Step Four: meet with the subject and conduct some brain scans on the first day, check for anomalous readings. Impress upon them the need to remain in control at all costs, which should hopefully help stave off horrible side effects.
OPERATION: ALL-SEEING EYE
Step Three: Replace the two expired subjects with more - see if I can link them up to the same hive mind that the five remaining ones possess, and how exactly this works out. Check what the issue might be with the interaction between treatments and how I would offset the fatality rate.
OPERATION: MOUSEWATCH 2016
Step Four: outfit mice with more sophisticated brain tracking software to hopefully understand what's activating and happening with them.
Step Five: the design applied to the nuked mouse - make a new test group with the same design. Three more modules if possible, plus adequate tracking.
Step Six: GOTO STEP ONE, resume observation.
OPERATION: GARDEN OF DELIGHTSYour volunteering man is moved into safely far away into middle of forest somewhere, although getting him brain scans means bringing him back daily. Can't power MRI with a simple diesel generator. But initial brain scans show nothing unusual beyond your modifications. Neurons are growing nicely along their protein scaffolds.
OPERATION: ALL-SEEING EYEI assume you replaced expired ones yesterday as soon as their failure was noticed. But you add two more because why not? They should link up nicely as long as their chips use same channel. But how does the hive mind react with additional brains being added is something you do not know. It's going to be interesting to see. As well as what happens when brains are removed from collective. How about merging two hiveminds? Like, have two hiveminds and separate few individuals from each by tuning them to third channel. What happens to individual who's completely separated from hivemind back to their lonely human existance?
Those are experiments for future. Currently the seven original members are starting their merger process. It seems to proceed within known parameters. All good here. They should be fully useable tomorrow.
OPERATION: MOUSEWATCH 2016Regarding step five, I was under impression the first mice was running the original design. Results should be the same regardless. But if you want more of original, that's fine too. But you build tiny mouse sized MRI variation for them. It isn't as good as full fledged version but should help you.
Now these three others with modified designs... Mouse 1, henceforth known as M1, who had alterations to direct brain to brain connectivity (DBBC) suddenly without warning goes all boom just like the very first Glorious test subject. And just as well it takes observering assistant with it. Another nice hole on ground.
M2 which had alterations on part allegedly dealing with matter causes the usual hallucinated light show; gates of pure light, beings of light appearing out of nowhere and walking through walls. M2 is terminated via excessive microwave radiation before anything else can happen.
M3 has alterations on the least understood part of Terrible Glory module. It does nothing unusual for a mouse with doubled brain size. Its appetite is reduced, but remains above avarage. Nothing anomalous is observed, but that itself can be thought as somewhat anomalous.

I can do that. Attempt to keep control of myself at all costs. This is also probably a great time to start a diary, so do that as soon as I'm capable of doing so.
It is very nice to obey the man. Everything is fine. Provided porn is fine too. Feel free to write your own journal because everything is fine and nothing is going to go wrong. Ever. You'll be the man, the unbeatable psi soldier!
no, a new hard and non-flexible memory material.
Alright. One can never have enough armor.
You start looking for armor quality shape-memory alloy. None of the existing types satisfy your needs even by smallest portion. Too weak, too slow to reform, incomplete reformation... list goes on. None of the material combinations you test functions as SMA, or if it does, it simply lacks required qualities. You do discover one new SMA which is easy to produce and repair, but that's far more suitable for civilian use than it's for military.

Your vision for true cybernetics has gone on vacation while you were sleeping. You mull over your haphazard drawings that now don't make any sense. Eventually you give up and move on the second project, shock absorbent lining. That project is much easier and easily done now that you have an idea. The end result has microscopic sponge structure frequently interrupted by micro springs. Those should take enough of any equally distributed force typical to rifle butts.

We'll call our new particle the Stoppy-Starty particle.
Nah, just kidding. How about ... hmmm. Gotta admit, I'm drawing a blank here. For now, we'll label it the Oz Kinetics Particle, OKP. I'll think up a better name later, maybe
For now, it feels like we are back where we were a couple days ago - needing a huge amount of energy to bring about our objective.
We could do cold fusion, antimatter generators, or something that converts matter directly to energy without antimatter. Or micro black holes.
Let's spend a day researching which of those possibilities is most feasible for us, as well as developing the tools to control the OKP
You may have cold or something because very little gets done today. Little work goes for OKP manipulation, but rest of the day is spent watching cat videos and laughing at fools on internet getting Darwing awards. That's evolution at work, man! Nature takes care of the ones too stupid to live.

((You got the chimera correct!))
Today I continue work on my combat bodies, focusing on anatomical changes that seem useful for all three, like improved muscle retention without exercise, or less vulnerable brain placement. Evolution has left me quite a few loose ends to clean up here.
Evolution also has made some impressive things, but scattered them on the most useless creatures. For example have you heard about
Mantis Shrimp? Fantastic little bugger.
I'm telling that because you spend too much time on internet chuckling at idiots removing themselves from human gene pool. Some smart person appears to be commenting same videos with equal delight.
Your agent asks if you could set up mass production for your rapid regeneration injections. Or you could give them instructions and The Company build production line on their own. This technology is very promising and they could make use of it more widely.

Construct a small shrine out of precariously balanced D&D dice in the assistants' R&R room.
Put a single cast-metal D6 from my personal collection in the center of it, 5 side up.
I meant the whole project as in the whole project. With the days ticking away and setback upon setback, not to mention that some enterprising idiots apparently stole parts of my research, how close do I feel is the whole current direction to being a lost cause? Just, in-character.
And, for what it's worth, the project name is not going to be "Artee". ARTEE is an Artificial Reasoning, Thinking, Emotive Entity - the primary defining point is its fully sentient and sapient synthetic mind. This unit here is meant for combat and carrying out orders. It will be called -
A/RT-ACCS. Assault/Recon Trooper - Artificially Conscious Combat Synthoid.
Yes, Artax. Wading through and slowly sinking in a swamp of sadness? Sounds about right.
Inquire about the regrowth procedure's known side-effects and whether it was sufficiently tested on humans before. If it seems good, ask that the injured assistant be provided the option to use it instead. Just let him (or her? Has that been established? We're sort of an equal opportunity employer.) choose. I won't expect any sort of unreasonable loyalty to my cause even if the procedure has been devised by one of my rivals - I'd like my "little helpers" to be in good health, rather than have them suffer from the "mad" part of my mad genius for something as misguided as faction loyalty. But if they're fine with prosthetics and burn scars, I'm not going to push. For my part, I'll stick to an in-house-made prosthetic for my arm. It's only fair.
Spend the day working on the MMI some more. See if it can be made as non-intrusive as possible, preferably limited to just a few sensor chips inserted into key points around the brain through minor skull trepanations, without major surgery. Any remaining hardware would be affixed to the skull externally. Ideally of course the whole thing would require no surgery to use, but that is highly unlikely.
See about getting that arm prosthetic assembled. Since myomers are so power-efficient and powerful, they will take up a lot less space than equivalent-strength biological muscles. Use that fact to stick the best custom lithium-polymer accumulator in the available space inside the forearm, and plate the whole thing in thin sheets of cast superalloy - so that it looks like a slim, elbow-length metallic armor glove.
((Let's see how long it takes to salvage this...))
You build a masterwork dice statue, all on top of single die! Using only one hand! You also put a note next to it with warning against toppling it. The fool who does it will be permanently transferred on test subject duty.
If only you could focus like this on the actual work. Hopefully you didn't use all your luck there.
The "Whole" whole? Eh, you should be able to finish it as long as you make amends to RNG. Not accounting for teaching the copy intelligence or whatever you want to call it.
ART ACCesS sounds better. War is a form of art, you know? More optimistic.
The regrowth procedure has been used on your rival with excellent results and he was in much worse state than you are, so it is pretty good. You let decision up to your little helper, who apparently is not as hesitant as you are. ((Her gender doesn't really matter unless you want to get more intimate with her, but I'm trying to be consistent on some matters.))
MMI can't be fully non-intrusive. Optimal performance requires very close observation of neuron activity. Employing trepanation approach does help because then data transmit and powering can be done externally which reduces chip size. You quickly finish alterations on your chips, prepare installation procedure, design and build external cap for managing power and data transfer. Congratulations! You got something done!
The body prototype is completed with internal power source omitted as per your instructions.
Ding ding! Simulation found something! In temperatures below 100K molecules of your superalloy get too close each other and weaker forces overcome forces keeping the structure together. It doesn't turn into dust or anything, but it becomes very fragile and shatters easily. Search for additional weaknesses continues unless you have something else for it to do.
Your private prosthetic gets done. It ain't very complex thing, nor is it very pretty or ugly. Should perform fine. Assuming you get MMI installed.
