Jeremmy poses heroically behind Quell as he begins to tell the guards to let him see the lord of the castle. After staring at him for a moment, the two burst out laughing and shaking their heads. Once they're well and finished, one of them, presumably the leader of the two, replies with "Look, I don't know who you are or where you're from, but obviously you're important from there. But here? Things don't work like that. You can't just waltz on into the king's castle and expect us to not stop you. Now, if you were to do something impressive, such as kill all the monsters in the cave over there," he points to the East "Then you might be able to get in. Speaking of monsters, how do I know you're not some kind of doppelgänger, here to try and kill the king? I suggest you leave, quickly."

While the guards are distracted by the loud one, Nix sneaks past the guards.

[25] You manage to sneak past the guards, and even grab a small bag of gold from inside the guard house. +25 gold, now inside the King's Castle.

Sneakily grab a stone from the ground

You know, just in case...

[11] You grab a stone. You don't think the guards noticed, but just in case you stick it in a pocket. +1 stone.

Quell rolls his eyes on the direction of the cave.

"I will perform this deed, and then I will have you disciplined for your incompetence."

Heed no attention to their further words. Go scout the cave and see what kinds of monsters are there. Look for one that would make a good pelt to wear and boost my eminence.

Jeremmy enters the cave as well, chuckling softly about Nix's stealth skills.

Head to cave.

Mai, Jeremmy and Quell all decide to head to the cave. It's nothing too notable from the outside; it's dark inside, and there appears to be some bats further back. The only notable thing outside of the cave is a large sign that, ironically, reads "HERE BE MONSTERS." It's difficult to see much further inside, but it looks like there might be a bend in the cave back there.

Look for more stuff to loot, sneakily.

[21] You succesfully sneak past more guards, and manage to steal a few more small sacks of gold, along with a dull silver ring. It makes the air around it hum, and has what appears to be small jolts of electricity running through it.

Put on the ring, find out where the king is.

Quell finds a fist-sized rock and tosses it into the cave, aiming to hit the bend.

Jeremmy also throws a rock, and throws it full force!

Put on the ring, find out where the king is.

As you put on the ring, you feel a jolt of electricity run through your entire body. You feel somehow....electrified.

[9] You sneak around the castle, being very careful to not get caught, but can't get to the higher floors, where you assume the king is.

Quell finds a fist-sized rock and tosses it into the cave, aiming to hit the bend.

Jeremmy also throws a rock, and throws it full force!

Both Jeremmy and Quell throw a rock down the tunnel; Quell manages to bounce his around the bend, and it sounds as if there is a lot more cave around it. Jeremmy's, on the other hand, goes flying off a wall and chips it, revealing what looks to be a small, shiny object.

[27] You sneak into the cave, and don't alert the bats to your movements; it appears as if there is a solid, perfectly straight wall of pure darkness around the bend.

Try using the electricity powers of the ring.  Attempt to shoot lightning at any stables or hay bales in the castle courtyard.  Try and remain undetected.

Jeremmy walks in and examines the shiny object.

Have the Squire investigate the darkness, sword ready to assist him.
