The Log Of Snazguul Alatugtakhak :
6th Of Malachite, 207:
We have arrived to reinforce Udurukkrishgoi. We did not bring the best warriors with us to this place. Our Urukhai are as weak as snaga and our snaga as frail as old goats. We brought many squigs to this place expecting to farmers to tend to them. To our surprise we were not welcomed by our brethren, they did not recognize us as friends and foul curses were said. Anger was thick in the air and so a fight began. They seemed to take no notice or care for the two that were felled. One of our warriors took a nasty punch to the stomach which made him vomit. They did not seem to care for their fallen and did not rush to help them in the fight. The fighting ceased then as we realized they would not attack us in return as a group. Only a snaga would strike an enemy that does not strike back and the two we had brought along as hunters thought the fight was going well. We withdrew from them and decided to set up our homestead elsewhere.
17th Of Malachite, 207 :
Before we had even begun to build a home elsewhere there was a series of loud screams coming from the fort we had abandoned. It sounded as if a terrible beast was ripping an orc apart. Our brethren had abandoned us and they would not get our help in this matter. Though it was deeply concerning that what could rip apart an orc could rip apart another. We readied ourselves for attack.
18th Of Malachite, 207 :
The screaming has stopped. We are truly afraid. Upon investigation we found several orcs and livestock ripped apart. We found no creature capable of such an act. It is very strange and unexplained... We will not worry about it for now.
23rd Of Malachite, 207 :
We have simply walked in and stolen their food stockpile. They did not stop us. We now see more signs of the battle and it's casualties. It seems they attacked each other. I do not blame them anymore these orcs have truly lost their mind and spirit.
7th Of Galena, 207 :
I don't know how we're supposed to build any walls without wood. I have to the realization leaving a peon in charge of wood cutting was a bad idea. He has the axe but isn't very bright and didn't bother to cut down any trees at all. Perhaps if the warriors weren't holding most of the axes as weapons this would have been a more fruitful endeavor... Looks like we're stealing some wood and extra axes because in the peon's mind that axe is for fighting.
14th Of Galena, 207 :
Wood still not cut. I'm beginning to question whether this peon can use an axe or simply sits there staring at it all day...
17th Of Galena, 207 :
Noises of strange animals were heard... it seems to be similar to the strange noises we heard last month. There were no screams this time and upon further search we found nothing but strange tracks.
18th Of Galena, 207 :
Our people are building a temporary home and shelter. Ghosts are floating around from the abrupt deaths of some of the settlement's former inhabitants. Let's hope they don't want wood.
27th Of Galena, 207 :
We are behind on building a carpenter's workshop. I wish that snaga humping peon would cut some trees like I told him to. Even with the extra axes he doesn't want to do it. I'm going to hit with something large and heavy soon.
1st Of Limestone, 207 :
The workshop is finally complete we have begun to build beds. The snaga humper apologized and explained he has been building walls for the shelter.
We still need that wood though. Construction on shelter nearly complete. Beds are being built. Things are looking good now we can finally relax a little with a good stockpile of food and whiskey. Now to decide what everyone's job will be we did not plan on coming to this place and being rejected by our brethren. We had hoped they would be helping us.
2nd Of Limestone, 207 :
The shelter is complete and that snaga humping peon has finally started to cut wood. Nothing else to report.
9th Of Limestone, 207 :
All the trees I wanted cut are now down I have set the peon to gather plants for us. It is a simple task fitting of his intelligence.
The clan leader and another urukhai will focus on defense and military matters. The snaga will hunt and assist the urukhai in defense. Our artisans will do everything related to crafting of wood and stone. We will need a pump there appears to be water in the ground.
12th Of Limestone, 207 :
I did not notice it until now but our shelter has no roof... time for a roof. Most of the beds are built and we put doors on our shelter. The snaga humper is doing a good job picking plants.
13th Of Limestone, 207 :
Strange noises again. We went to investigate and found a strange beast which we slew. Strangely we found clothing on it... The snaga humper and a snaga were found dead. I do not like the way this is going. They seem to attack once a month. We will be ready next time.
20th Of Limestone, 207 :
The roof is built on the shelter and beds are being placed. We finished a crafting workshop and a mechanics workshop. We have begun to dig into the earth.
21st Of Limestone, 207 :
It seems we have had some good luck and did not find and water where we dug. It looks like there is hope for good metal. We have begun to build a kitchen, butchery and still.
1st Of Sandstone, 207 :
We have hit water in our hole. Looks like our luck has run out. When we are ready we will build a pump.
8th Of Sandstone, 207 :
Two animals have matured and an elephant that belonged to the other orcs has starved. Looks like butchering time.
9th of Sandstone, 207 :
We have begun to build walls and dig a main entrance to the underground part of our home.
10th Of Sandstone, 207 :
The strange animals came again. We have killed them all. I received a wound on my right foot. It is only a scratch I should live. May our troubles end here so we can begin anew this settlement.
For the glory of the tribe! Our enemies shall tremble.
12th Of Sandstone, 207 :
Some migrants are here! We have met a very skilled mason and a fisherorc who has killed an elf and wears an elf nail earring as a trophy. The other mason will be busied with other duties like mining and engineering and now we can get some fresh fish from the river.
17th Of Sandstone, 207 :
I have had a change of heart. We will kill our former clansmen. Not out of necessity but because they have become mad and wander around while their animals starve. We will use their resources for ourselves and hopefully be well and well off from what they have left behind.
28th Of Sandstone, 207 :
The fighting has finally stopped. We have lost one of our warriors, the elf killer and our remaining snaga hunter has lost some teeth. This may have been a bad idea but we killed 5 for every one we lost. We are short a warrior and a fisherorc now but at least the fort is ours and no hostile former brethren remain. We will move the supplies back into the fort and use their workshops for our own purposes. It is a glorious day! Our area around the shelter will be made into a tower for the glory of our tribe and as a memorial to the fallen. The new mason has proven himself in his unarmed combat He shall be known as Malatal Gazogkrat Lagazgagashump Pushduul... That is one long orc name but I think he deserves it.
10th Of Timber, 207 :
It all makes sense now. Why the creatures only attacked once a month. I transformed into one of them... I have become cursed. No one else saw the transformation but in my rage I toppled a kitchen and still we built in the area of the new tower. One of our orcs ran from my presence as he went to feed our injured snaga. I have never felt so powerful though. Perhaps this will be a boon in times of need if I can learn to control my temper in this new form. Why did it have to resemble a rabbit though? Such a benign and powerless creature.
11th Of Timber, 207 :
I have taken up the medical duties for the fort in an effort to forget my curse. Though I would have had this not been the case. How else are we supposed to mend these broken bones?
1st Moonstone, 207 :
The rest of the prior month was uneventful other than our people resting injuries. Nothing to report so far.
6th Of Moonstone, 207 :
I was in the hospital when the transformation overtook me. I was mending an orc and had dropped the sutering needle. Thankfully I got stuck underneath the table and no one was harmed. I must be more careful in the future.
10th Of Moonstone, 207 :
We are out of cloth and we have no time to dress wounds half of our people are still resting. This is not looking good.
26th Of Moonstone, 207 :
The month has been rather uneventful. We still need to fix up our people. We have no thread or cloth. We have begun to shear creatures in an attempt to make some.
6th Of Opal, 207 :
I transformed again this time in a hallway with no one else around. I would limit myself to a certain area for the safety of the others but they would find it strange and suspicious besides they need my help more than ever with so many of us resting. I must be strong for my people.
13th Of Opal, 207 :
Our last snaga had died from his injuries. We could not treat him properly with the low medical supplies. It is a shame but we have much livestock in the fort and he will not be missed greatly. I do regret we could not get him to do something else though as it is needed now. Hopefully the other two that rest do not suffer the same fate. We will press forward in the hope that more migrants arrive from the tribe. Today we begin to crave the main stairway that will lead to our underground barracks and training area. I will also set up an office for myself from which to rule this ill fated fort.
15th Of Opal, 207 :
Found some coffins and have begun to bury the dead. It seems the previous orcs had started to build a catacombs for their dead and we will continue this work. I grieve for the fallen snaga I will spin no thread today. Nothing else to report.
16th Of Opal, 207 :
The plans for the barracks, armory, office, archery range and prison are ready. We can only hope we get this done in a timely fashion there is other work to do.
24th Of Opal, 207 :
I am overcome with sadness. I have lost hope and grieve for our fallen with startling regularity. I turn away half my work even though it must be done. I have let them down. I have let them all down. In my grief my thoughts turn towards building a tower and jumping off. Though we do not have the man power to build one and nothing else is nearly high or steep enough. I see now what happened to these orcs that came before.
4th Of Obsidian, 207 :
To add insult to my grieving state I have transformed once again. Luckily no one was harmed. The orcs in the hospital have not healed yet and I must continue my work. The cloth is nearly done.
8th Of Obsidian, 207 :
There was an attack by a lone orc leader. I do not understand where he came from or if he was here before hiding among the trees. The mason has killed him with his bare hands. He has lost the use of one of his thumbs but he beat the clan leader to death and that is deeply satisfying. Threat removed.
26th Of Obsidian, 207 :
These are not orcs these are snaga humping lookalikes. They refuse to get up and do work unless I dress their wounds. Two of them have rested for over two months... You would think these wounds would heal by now but no they demand that their wounds be dressed before they get up and do any work at all... I am going to hit them with something very large and very heavy and I don't care if it kills them!!!!!!!!! SNAGA HUMPING SONS OF SQUIGS HAVE NO PLACE IN THIS FORT!!!!!!! They will grow strong or die! I no longer care!
28th Of Obsidian, 207 :
Another transformation... killed a squig. I am beginning to enjoy the power I feel in that form I ripped apart the squig with no effort at all.
22nd Of Granite, 208 :
Still no cloth... I hauled some things around and keep forgetting to actually make that cloth that is so vital to those squig shaggers. I hope to eat them in my were form. I would personally slaughter them on the spot for their weakness but we need all the people we can get right now. Ghosts have risen everywhere from the fallen former brethren. I have no way to make them be at peace, I refuse to bury them for their betrayal.
27th Of Granite, 208 :
Another transformation, no one harmed. Still no migrants. How am I to be expected to build a fort up with no help from anyone? I work alone day in day out and I have no one to talk to most of the time. I have begun to hear voices... I hope it is only the ghosts.
7th Of Slate, 208 :
My mind is so clear now I hear the voice of my god Pradbuut inside my head. He tells me I cannot make the cloth... the thread is there and it is needed for the dressings but my god tells me no. I cannot disobey him. I cannot disobey him. I cannot disobey him. He tells me he wishes me to turn the others into were creatures and I will obey in the end... Who am I to diobey a god?
20th Of Slate, 208 :
Badger stole a roast. I will eat the heart of any beast who dares steal our food! My god is great he whispers secrets in my ear. I will turn the remaining people into werebeasts that will heal them!
25th Of Slate, 208 :
The mason of some renown has survived the process. The other mason was not strong enough and died from his injuries. The excellent wrestler who should be able to fight well in his new beast form. My god should be pleased!
26th Of Slate, 208 :
The mason has died of his injuries... Does my god wish me to be alone?
1st Of Felsite, 208 :
Only one other orc remains so I have decided to take up all the extra duties in the fort. If he doesn't survive the transformation process I will be truly alone. Maybe my god wishes me to be the only one here for some reason? He likes to talk to me I guess.
6th Of Felsite, 208 :
Just me and the fish and the ghosts and the god and the... and the death... it makes me hungry! For Fish! Oh rainbows and volcanoes that is what my god Pradbuut is all about!
7th Of Felsite, 208 :
I did not notice how many dire wolves we had before! I will make them all my pets! 4 adults will be for war and 3 for hunting but they will all be my pets! I finally have friends again!
18th Of Felsite, 208 :
I put a halt on the fishing. I was getting bored of fishing anyway. Time to do other stuff. Praise Pradbuut! This servant of rainbows and volcanoes greets you!
20th Of Felsite, 208 :
Hunting Rhinos how fun!
Snazguul Alatugtakhak soon after was struck down in wererabbit form while hunting down a rhino.
Leadership transferred to Alatuul Malatugoghag the carpenter and only surviving Orc...
23rd Of Felsite, 208 :
What is a poor artisan to do? Strange things have while I've been in the hospital I heard screams in the other room and Snazguul said everything was alright in a creepy voice that caused me to be too scared to move for days on end. Blood was seeping into the room from under the door and I kept thinking of the strange noises I heard that sounded strangely like a rabbit but not a rabbit... It is time I got up I haven't heard anything for two days and I'm getting hungry. I never did get those wound dressings I requested...
24th Of Felsite, 208 :
After further investigation I have come upon the realization that I am now the only orc left. Something has drown in the moat... It is a strange creature. The bodies of my fellow orcs have begun have begun to rot in the other room. I can only hope there are migrants at some point. I have decided to begin mining the plans Snazguul laid out before losing his mind. We will build a barracks, office, prison and archery range underground. I also plan to train the dire wolves how to hunt despite my lack of expertise in this area.
8th Of Hematite, 208 :
The spirits are growing restless I heard a loud crash and went to investigate. A spirit hovered above a toppled bed. Must keep mining to distract myself.
12th Of Hematite, 208 :
The clan liaison has arrived along with a caravan. I has ceased digging for now to build a trade depot. This shouldn't take too long.
14th Of Hematite, 208 :
After a short I and the liaison had a meeting. It was a pleasant change to hear some news from the clan. We signed an agreement, they seem to be short on meat this year. I began to build the trade depot.
25th Of Hematite :
The trade depot is finally complete. Now we can trade with our orc brothers. I have begun to move our finished goods to the depot.
3rd Of Malachite, 208 :
We traded after the long wait I tired of hauling goods to the depot. It seems they did not bring much however they did bring ample food which we are short of. It has been a good day and I will begin cooking the meat to fill our stockpiles.
8th Of Malachite, 208 :
The merchants have decided to leave, we said our farewells and they bid me good luck as they noticed the bodies and ghosts littered around the site... I can only hope I do not become one of them.
12th Of Malachite, 208 :
Farewell!
I somehow get the sense I was cheated... Is it just me or did something go missing?
14th Of Malachite, 208 :
A honey badger has been struck down trying to steal something. I'm glad those dire wolves were there at the main entrance.
2nd Of Galena, 208 :
I think that's enough cooking. We now have a stock of about 80 meals. That should be enough for me for a very long time. Now back to digging. Hopefully this won't take too long and I can have the wolves trained by winter. For some reason the liaison is still here. I asked when he was going to leave and he just tells me "When I'm ready". Such an odd fellow.
22nd Of Galena, 208 :
I didn't realize how many other things needed to be done. I started to haul the coffins into the crypt so I may finally bury our dead. the month has been rather uneventful other than work. Why is the liaison still here? I suppose it's alright I could use the company. No new migrants it seems we did not attract any to our miserable fort. We have the space but not the appeal. I feel like abandoning this settlement but I will hope for the best and push forward. I hope I am not alone at this work for the rest of my days. So many bodies...
1st Limestone, 208 :
Still hauling coffin down to the crypt, it seems to take forever and I'm not getting any digging or animal training done. It is a wise idea to bury the dead though... We have so many ghosts around here I'm surprise they don't topple furniture more often. The work goes on.
8th Of Limestone, 208 :
The ghosts are getting restless. Another toppled a bed... Though it is not policy to bury your enemies I may consider it. The liaison is still here... I do not understand how such a person can afford to waste time playing with the dire wolves and squigs...
11th Of Sandstone, 208 :
My attempts to dig out the aquifier did not go well. I am now trapped in the entrance stairway I meant to make... There is much room for the water to flow and hopefully in time it will be low enough that I may walk freely again. I do hate water and can't swim.
17th Of Sandstone, 208 :
An aquifier does not work the way I think it does... The lower level has been flooded and now I need to make a pump to get rid of the water.
2nd Of Timber, 208 :
Some migrants have arrived to help me with this flood. Glorious day! 9 migrants arrive and we have appointed a new warchief and clanspeaker. Our fortune has turned around for the better. 9 migrants arrived in total. Our warchief is a snaga but his talent with close combat weapons is undeniable.
I hope he does well.
20th Of Timber, 208 :
The liaison is still here! I do not understand his obsession with our fort! He has overstayed his welcome and I have asked him to leave yet he refuses! I cannot hit him with large things or the clan will seek retribution. I must patiently wait for him to leave though I cannot guarantee he will leave at all. Strange day, pump still not built we are waiting for a windmill.
22nd Of Moonstone, 208 :
pump and windmill finally built. I turned it on and we began to mine and build walls as quickly as possible to end the tyrannous reign of the water in the underground!
24th Of Moonstone, 208 :
The leatherworker has given birth to a girl. There is much more water than expected in that hole we have flooded half the main level and have no way to shut off the pump... I feel our engineer forgot to tell us this might happen. They were not able to dig a hole the size I specified with all the water in the way. We will have to wait until the pump gets completely flooded and shuts off...
10th Of Opal, 208 :
Nearly our entire fort is flooded! I must take apart the windmill right now! From now I on we put doors on a room we pump into! The clanspeaker was sent I yelled my orders while trapped in my room by the flood waters. He quickly bashed the windmill beyond repair having no technical skills.
22nd Of Opal, 208 :
The water has begun to dry. How foolish I was to think we would have the time to dig out and enclose an area in the time it took for the water to get too high.
28th Of Opal, 208 :
attempt number two is underway to clear the lower level of water. We have put doors on the room so the pump shuts off this time when the water level gets too high.
18th Of Obsidian, 208 :
I have come up with a method to pump large quantities to the hill top and get it completely out of our way to finish digging and build the walls. I hope for the best.
16th Of Granite, 209 :
My stack of pumps is nearly I can't wait to test it. Just need to build a windmill and we can begin to pump up water from the lower levels and hopefully clear them so we may continue our underground training and mining operations. It seems there are too many of us standing around. The leatherworker has run out of leather, the bone carver has run out of bone, the farmer has run out of seeds. it looks like we'll have to make our farming operations above ground because of the abundance of plants in the hills or should I simply say THE hill. I am so excited that our problems will soon be solved and we can begin to craft fine weapons and armour to protect us against the threats that plagued my early life here. May I never see a wererabbit again! Who would want to be turned into a wererabbit anyway? Why not a werewolf or a werebear? That would be much more fitting for an orc.
28th Of Granite, 209 :
I thought there's no way there could be that much water down there... BUT THERE IS! We must keep pumping until we will draw all the water out of that hole!
10th Of Slate, 209 :
No matter how much we pump the water keeps coming! A baby has drowned... It's all my fault. The hole has won.
The log ends here because I have absolutely no previous experience with aquifers or pumps at all. In fact I get by just fine usually without building much advanced machinery at all. The loss of my ability to play a were fort thanks to the death of all the wererabbits was disheartening and now I'm stuck with a fort with an aquifer. I find this particular fort unplayable because I cannot even make a fairly large stairway like I like to.
So fort retired.
