Nix nods, and continues to follow him.

((Lets fast forward to the house, otherwise we're gonna end up flooding the thread with our conversation.))

I am presently holding further applications until the first job is done, then I can expand the jobs available so that players aren't crowded into a single job.

Welp, I'll be joining as well. Time to dust off that old Jack Hart character of mine.

Spoiler: Jack Hart (click to show/hide)

Jack, you parade through the gates of Stone in roughspun, but brightly coloured motley, juggling cloth balls and dancing.  Given the generally jovial mood, nobody questions your presence or even remembers to check for your papers.  It is simple enough to steal food and wine where needed, and you put together a rooftop shelter from bits of old wood and boards to keep you dry - well, damp rather than wet.  You also look to engage in your favourite pastime.

To your surprise, you find that you are not the only serial killer in Stone.  Someone has been very active lately, judging from all the bodies that have been washing up in the river or found in abandoned houses.  The watch have naturally chalked this up to local gang violence, but you know how to recognise one of your own kind.

It takes a little work to track down the signs, but up until very recently it seems they have made little genuine effort to hide their deeds.  Nevertheless, you get a rough idea as to their location and, by sheer chance, observe a street fight in the Pile and a chance meeting of a mysterious hooded individual and the street fighter in question.  You dismiss the affair until, in the course of your stalking from the rooftops, you recognise the same pair in the area to which you have narrowed your search.  You follow them to a house in the Outer Districts, where several others of dubious origin seem to enter as well.  From what you can tell of their interactions, they do not seem to know each other.

Well, why not?  You drop down to an alleyway and make to enter the house under your own terms.

Spoiler: Jack Hart (Tomasque) (click to show/hide)

Finding Kansora's house is simple, Karolides gave you directions.  [6+0] You do a bit of preliminary searching about for this Drozny type, but all you can find out is that he is a merchant, of the type dealing in overseas trading rather than local shopkeeping.

The six of you gather in Kansora's house.  You may introduce yourselves and begin to co-ordinate.

((Does the +2 assassination bonus added by the knife double if the target is unaware? I'd assume not, since the target needs to be unaware for me to get the bonus at all, but maybe there's a reason you said +2 assassination instead of just +2 damage...))

 To Clof:
You've been invited for the same reason as I, correct?

[[Ah yes.  To clarify, it's a +2 damage bonus (the damage type is "assassination" if it matters in the future) but only on attacking an unaware opponent.  The idea is that knives and daggers have a slight backstab bonus to make up for their smaller size and damage output, which doubles with a finely made dagger.]]

"Yeah, but I was kinda hoping for some, I dunno, actual specifics.  Give me a name and I'll break his neck.  Better than just sitting around..."

Nix goes back to fidgeting in his seat.

Quote from: Letter
Greetings,

You have come highly recommended by an associate.  This will be a job of some difficulty, so I have arranged for you to meet partners to conduct the business.  You will meet at the house of Master Kansora, in the Outer Districts, at sundown come the end of the week.  If you find any promising junior partners, you may include them at your discretion.  The recipient of your delivery is a Master Drozny, a spice merchant operating in the city.  He is wealthy and can be expected to have multiple employees to protect his business interests, most likely of considerable skill.  He is known to have a house in Up-Town and to operate multiple ships, but remains chiefly in town.  He may have other interests in Stone, which I leave you to investigate.  I leave it to you to determine a time and place for the delivery, as well as selecting the appropriate method of conducting the meeting.

The total fee for conducting the transaction will be one hundred crowns, split amongst all business partners in the endeavour.

- Karolides

[Foolishly, given the start of the game, I shall be incommunicado until Tuesday, as I shall be running around in a field in Northampton and hitting people with a foam dagger.  Feel free to divide tasks and indicate what you wish to do to prepare for the murder before then and I will conduct responses thereafter.]

Nix, after taking his turn to read the letter, smiles contentedly to himself.

"Right then.  Let's bust some skulls.", he quips, theatrically cracking his knuckles.
