A five-on-one brawl that didn't end with one man dead was something you tended to notice, even if the five were high out of their minds. They found themself almost impressed.
That Karolides had a job they were very familiar with, and they were even more familiar with the punishment for failure: Guard upon guard bearing down on them with a lust for blood. If this drunken brawler was half as good against sober opponents as they were against opium addicts, he would be a valuable asset during a contract gone awry.

The figure flips up their cloak and silently approaches Nix, stopping just out of arm's reach.
"You there."

"Hm?  What'dchu want?", the young man said, in between gulps of air.  He stares down the well-dressed stranger.

((Are we still doing individual introductions, or are we all at Kansora's house, waiting for the work?  I guess the above conversation could have still happened  ))

[SOLDIER First]

((Well, we could finish the conversations and move to Kansora's at an abritrary point in time after they're done, or switch mid-post between the two. Either is fine but I assumed we would do the former.))

Apart from their distinctive, out-of-place armor, Nix can determine little of the person; said breastplate hides their figure, while their cloak - and the darkness - obscures their face.
"You handle yourself well in a fight... The odds were against you, even so addled as your opponents' brains were, and yet I see you little the worse for wear before me. I could have excellent use for a person of your talent."

[NRDL]

Nix grinned, an awful bestial look, still riding on the adrenaline that the fight had brought him.  Whatever else this oh so grim and mysterious stranger wanted, it meant work.  Potentially violent work, too.

"Alrighty then.  Just give me a second."

Turning around and rolling over one of his opponents, Nix picked up the sack containing the only two possessions he really had in the world.  Checking that they were still inside, Nix slung the sack over his shoulder,  and looked at the man and the cloak.

"After you.  Where we headed?"

[SOLDIER First]

The figure was taken aback, but only for a moment. Very eager... an excellent accomplice, for sure.
"Nowhere at the moment, I'm afraid... But tomorrow, you and I have a meeting to attend. I hope we three won't be the only ones in attendance."
The figure is silent for a moment.
"Now I shall ask you two things, my friend: What is your name, and do you happen to know a man by the name of Kansora?"

[NRDL]

"Nix.  Nix is the name.  Am I supposed to know this Kansora?  You don't get much news out here in the slums,", he says with a shrug.  A moment of thinking.

"Well, you know my name.  You got one?"

[SOLDIER First]

"No, no. You're easily forgiven for that. Truth be told, I haven't a clue who he is either..."
Then they laugh. A quiet, sinister laugh.
"My name? My name is whatever you wish to call me, Nix."

[NRDL]

"Whatever you say.  I'm on your schedule." he says.  Nix then proceeds to follow "Whatever" to wherever this Kansora's wants them to be.

((forgive me for the incredibly obvious joke))

[SOLDIER First]

((Whatever assassinates Nix for making fun of them))

Whatever seems to be wandering semi-aimlessly through the Pile in search of Kansora.
"Now, Nix... I must ask you another question."

[NRDL]

Turning around, Nix faces his new acquaintance.

"Hm?  Bout what?"

[SOLDIER First]

"You are a man of violence, I see. Very skilled with your fists. But are you a man of strong will?"

[AbstractTraitorHero]

((Are you still taking people?))

[NRDL]

Nix paused, smirking bemusedly.  This guy...

"I've fought, starved, and clawed for every second of this miserable godforsaken life.  So...yeah, guess I am.  The hell's this got to do with anything?"

[SOLDIER First]

"Strong enough to kill a person for no other reason than you were simply asked to?"

[NRDL]

"...Sure.  Don't see why not."

[SOLDIER First]

The figure nods.
"Good. I was afraid you would turn tail at that - ridiculous as it may sound.
Now, to find this Kansora man."
