The moon is getting low in the partially cloudy sky.
The stars are visible and shining brightly.
The deep dark blue of the night is getting a mild azure tone on the eastern side.
Night is coming to an end, dawn will come soon.
Turn 48 : Everyone bar Ulkas
ZoomochScoomtarto the Three-Eyed BeholderNow back to the hunt!
[5] This is what it feels to be alive. Killing, bathing in blood. This is not enough, you want more. Filled with bloodlust, you leave to check the other spots, looking for more creatures.
Venturing further into the familiar ruins, you smell the odor of a monster. Oh, this spot ? It is a dead-end, a guaranteed kill if you surprise a creature there. Slavering like a mad beast, you rush toward the tight corridor.
Oh ? What is this creature ? You never saw one like this before. It looks like a huge ball of thick green fur, and is standing its back exposed. Larger and taller than you, It seems to be a quadruped.
Durst the Rock Seer"I will never give up. And you know what? Maybe I intend to find where all the mana has gone. Tell everyone I've died, it'll be easier for them to take. I'm heading towards the barrier."
Durst begins to walk away, before pausing and turning his head.
"You can come if you wish. If you love mana and wish to find out where it has gone, you shall join me."
Head to the barrier and try to pick up on some mana flow.
Tourma takes a surprised look and laughs uncontrollably :
"Ahahaha ! Always so dramatic ! You got me for a second with your story of disappeared mana and you leaving secretly like some hero coming from a fairy tale. Aaah, it gave me a good laugh !"
Breathing deeply to calm his spasms, he finally says with a relieved voice.
"I see you finally made your choice, to leave for the outside. It actually took you more time than I expected. But are you serious when you said you would leave alone ? I thought you would at least leave with a companion. As for me, you know I won't leave Coridem, I have duties here."
[4] You head toward the barrier anyway, walking for hours without meeting anyone. After all, most monsters and humans live in the town of Coridem, those who don't are usually just hermits or calm-seekers. The huge barrier is progressively getting taller as you approach it. You will probably reach them at dawn with this pace.
This is a calm and desolate place. Inside the crater, the surrounding is similar to a savannah. Tall yellow grass and some trees spread in the wide landscape. Despite the dry appearance of this place, a cool wind blows from the north. This is a soothing place, with the melody of the dancing grass accompanying your walk.
Amongst the whispers of the grass, you hear extremely faint whispers from the mana as you approach the barrier. It's like Tourma said.
((Mana isn't gone, it's just that it doesn't "speak" anymore.))
The Ashen the Charred Wraith Lay still. If it gets close enough, leap on and wrap myself around a limb. Begin the process of possession!
[1] ((eeeh, unluck at its finest)) You lay low, immobile, waiting for the presence to show itself. As it approaches progressively, a light can be seen coming from the upper edge of the hill.
Then a bright light blind you, coming from the creature standing at the top of the hill. You can't discern clearly what is this creature, as the glow is too strong.
When you feel it close enough, you leap out of your hiding spot, intending to wrap around it ! But unfortunately for you, the creature spotted you since a moment, and was just wondering what you were doing. It deftly dodges you, and understands you have no pacific intents.
[6] The creature lashes at you in a reflex, and you feel a limb striking you ! The attack is unexpectedly weak though, and you grab at the limb.
You lose 3HP
The creature's glow turn off, and you manage to better distinguish the figure standing in front of you. It's a really strange monster, with five unevenly placed arms ending with five fingered hands. It has two long legs and his head is wearing some kind of strange mask. A symbol is inscribed on it.
The creature body is white like porcelain, and it sports many masks with different symbols on its body. The creature begins to take some masks of its body with its free hands.
Glint the Elemental Arcanivore"You guys do- *huff* -know you're going into- *puff* -Radasar territory, right?"
Run to catch up to the blobs and say that.
[5] Despite getting breathless, you run at full speed toward the blobby figures. Thanks to the descent, you gain a lot of speed. Furthermore, you feel like your inner energy is boosting your body.
You catch up to the blobs, who somehow didn't notice you despite staying on guard. You explain them your pacific intentions, and that they are heading toward the Radasar territories, reptilian creatures known for their warmongering customs.
Stormslayer the Aradian Mirage Beetle MysticStormslayer would let out a hiss of frustratioun, before nodding to Amarilys.
"Time is now of the essence. We must depart."
And once again they would set off for the hive at top speed. The sooner they returned, the sooner the alliance could be sealed.
[5] Not wanting to waste anymore time, you leave to return to your hive immediately. Amarilys guides you until you reach the border of the Sylvarian territory, and bids you goodbye, not before indicating you some safe shortcuts.
You eventually leave the forest, reaching the small patch of flat grassy terrain. Then you arrive at the border between sand and grass. Hours later, you reach the hive safe and sound, and Guard-caste Beetles greet you with a worried look. Not only did they felt your Hive contact vanishing, but you came back far earlier than expected.
You are brought in front of the Queen in the recently dug royal chamber.
"You are back sooner than we expected. Why, are you bringing bad or good news ?"
Dahak the Uncanny Unreasonably Spooky Scary Skeleton((PLOT DUMP :V))
Dahak is certainly impressed by Morvad's awareness and ability to formulate accurate theories, though its a bit unfortunate that Morvad messed up the volume on his spiritual transmission because NOW THE ENTIRE WESTERN HEMISPHERE PROBABLY HEARD WHAT HE SAID.
Man, Morvad can still cook up good ideas even if he's dead. Old man still has it, but there's still a few gaps I need to fill..
Dahak says as he turns towards the iron coffin.
Just what am I supposed to do with this thing now, then? If its actualy disconnected from the outer dimension, and having LITERALLY EATEN A WORLD GUARDIAN, then this little coffin here won't do much to hold it, eh. I don't think I could kill it, not by myself at least, and Delinde seems totally out of it now- O hey
Dahak then remembers about Delinde, turning towards her and flailing his arms.
WOMAN WHAT THE HELL WHERE IS YOUR MASK YOU ACTUALY HAVE A FACE??? Wat, your face isn't even weird, you actualy look like some sort of fairy. Why do you even bother with the mask then? Don't tell me your fashion sense actualy sucks that bad.
Despite Dahak's valuable fashion critique, Delinde barely even reacts. Dahak hopes that the hugely obnoxious sound volume abuse extravaganza brought by Morvad's otherwordly voice hasn't completely blown her brains out. Then again, she did seem very potato-ish earlier, too.
Uhhhh, hellooo? Delinde? Uh. You should probably try to rest you know, we can talk later I guess.
Dahak then sits close to the iron coffin, knocking on its side a bit.
Uhhh, hello? You there bud? Listen, we have to talk this out. I think I understand what you meant by the whole ~DAHAAAAAAK~ thing, but we need to come to an agreement here. I miiiight let you out, but you have to promisse to not get hostile on me or the death fairy, plus, quit with the whole ~dahaaaaaaak~ thing, its creeping me the hell out
Tell Delinde to go and try to rest while you negotiate with the creepy thing. Try gain the thing's trust and maybe make it into a useful ally. I mean, its not like you can just kill it yourself, and it doesnt seem outright hostile. Try to rest as well and hope Morvad's shenaningas hasn't awakened the entire cemetery.
Delinde nods silently to you and go sit in a comfy corner of the crypt. As for the ritual, it eventually ends when the mana reserve runs out.
[4] You open the sarcophagus warily, which is curiously silent since Morvad stopped talking. To your surprise, the humanoid is silently laying on its back, and it seems to have regenerated some bits of its lost body. You begin to speak, but the humanoid cut you off.
"I understand so many things better. What I am. What I was."
Crap, you realize the thingy could hear Morvad's loud magic theory rambling. It may have been a bad overlook in hindsight, as you already witnessed how its intelligence was increasing at an alarming speed.
"I have no name. I am nothing. So my name will be Nihil, born from the Outer World."
He turns his featureless face toward you.
You must have so many questions. There is now things I understand while you don't. Exhilaration. Is this what I should be feeling ?"
He tries to imitate a laugh, instead producing a really creepy "Ha...Ha...Ha...". You speak to him/her/it, assuring it you can be trusted and that it could even become your ally if he wished to explore his individuality.
Once again he tries to imitate a laugh, failing horribly.
"Exploring my individuality ? I can clearly see what you are trying to do. But I will still join you, for my own purpose..."
You realize Delinde is standing next to the sarcophagus, with a sharp look on her face.
"Don't try to play to the smart one. As you now know everything about me, my past, my feelings and my thoughts, I also know everything you yourself know about you. I may even know about yourself than you even know."
The self-named Nihil shudders.
"What you are feeling and hiding. It is loneliness and despair. You are still too young to be boasting about understanding everything."
Nihil begins to curl on itself, like a terrified creature. It begins to shudder even more intensely than before, like in pain.
Mana regeneration roll : 1d6
[6] You recover 6MP
((The mass that absorbed the Guardian's Essence is a different entity from Nihil))
Gray the MetaldeeContinue along unless I get stopped. Hopefully find my way back to the shortcut.
[5] You are instantly stopped by a group of strange monsters claiming their pacifical intentions. A quadruped with a glassy appearance, a crystal midget on its back, and a threatening-looking insectile colossus. They also speak about Radasars, nasty reptilian monsters.
Brown seems to immediately believe them.
Realizing you went off track, you thank them profusely and return on your track. Thanks to the moon position in the sky, you quickly deduce where is the actual shortcut. The quadruped, an Elemental Arcanivore is proposing you to travel together.
Snehk the StalkerMarvelous idea!
Now I'll have companions.
[3] "Great ! Let's head off now then !" says Bargar happily.
The three of you set off to the south-western forest. It is not far from Bargar lair, so you quickly reach it and begin searching for a prey. The forest is not so different from the Elon Woods, just maybe a tad less dense in vegetation. You wonder why this wood would house strong monsters, there is no apparent difference here.
Barak spots some tracks belonging to a monster.
Barak and Bargar, Black Tattooed Ursid, have joined you for a quest
Caedan the Nosferatu"I've been traveling aimlessly for a while now, but I may know some answers to your questions. If you feel like it, ask away."
Should they want to get some information from me and Caedan knows the answers, tell them. Once our conversation is done and they need nothing more of me:
"I shall be taking me leave then. If our paths cross again, I hope it will be a less heart-attack inducing circumstance."
Go and explore the forest a little afterwards. Also, transform.
Name : Caedan
Species : Not a Vampire Nosferatu ((Dammit, figuring out new names for vampires is much harder than for a suit of armor. If you have any cool ideas, feel free to write it in. Otherwise, right now I only have things like Bloodied Vampire or Greater Vampire. Although I have a pretty cool one for his stage 10 transformation - Dracul.))
Appearance : A tall, pale man. His black hair reaches his shoulders and is rather lazily tied into a ponytail. His reddish-grey eyes feel as if they can pierce right through you. His fangs are elongated and seem extremely sharp. He wears black clothes fit for a nobleman, with some purple accents here and there. An arming sword hangs at his side. You could swear that his eyes are glowing red, sometimes.
HP or MP increase : HP
Attributes increased : POW
Traits gained : Levitation and Flight - Caedan gains the ability to levitate and fly. Rather early for a vampire. Is it a sign of greatness? Or is it a mark of damnation?
Skills gained : Mist Form - Caedan can change into mist, allowing him to pass through things like barred windows and other such things. Changing into mist also lets him hide his presence in the right area, unless whoever he's hiding away from can detect him by magic or a different ability. He can also use it to nearly completely evade physical attacks.
[6] "I will do the interrogation." says the hooded figure.
Still hiding her face, the person or monster with a slight feminine voice bombards you with questions. You answer to all of them honestly, and slightly feel like you are giving away too much information because of the panic...
She asks some strange questions.
"Are there human-less monster nations ? How do you feel toward humans ? Did your life suddenly change recently ? How was it before ?" are only a portion of the many questions she asked.
You answer globally that you never heard of "monster nations", it's impossible. After all, monsters naturally feels bloodlust when there are too much around. As for humans, you hate them and the feeling is mutual. Furthermore, they are but food. Ah, you remember feeling a change recently, your memory is hazy before this day, but you feel like you were a mindless being.
"What he says only confirm our theories. Something terrible happened to the harmony during the Silent Years period. I don't think he will be of much use, we can let him be."
The human nods, and after saying "I'm sure we will meet again !", they leave. You totally don't want to meet them again actually.
Transformation Success Roll : [3]
When they are finally gone, you release the energy within you that you painfully tried to contain.
In a sudden burst, you feel something happening to your body. For a moment, you turn into mist, and you feel yourself getting stronger. You realize with surprise that you are levitating, it's incredible.
You gain +1 POW, +5HP and +2MP
You acquire the trait Levitation
You acquire the skill Mist Form
You are now a Nosferatu !
