I'd like to play, if I can.

Had been half planning on Emperor, but I think I'll find it more enjoyable if I'm not. Got an idea for what to play...Heh.

Can i build Orbital stations beyond my planetary limit (since my two sectors seem to already be filled to the maximum with planets)


also in regards to tech: can i simply trade tech?

EDIT: also uhm in regards to Tiers between Ships, does a larger Tier mean a larger ship or a more modern ship?
And if it is a more modern ship what is the rough tech-difference? Or did you leave that intentionally vague for us to fluff out?

EDITEDIT: sorry for all the questions: Regarding the map/sectors. My only connection to the Empire is through the northern imperial sector right? I won't suddenly have invasions from unknown northern sectors coming in?

In a similiar vein our only unknown border is the Western Border which is controlled by the Sixth Fleet or can we expect more systems beyond the Tharsis Expanse and so forth?

The problem here is that such a thing could be quite overpowered, especially considering that stations have no maintenance cost. On the other hand, without it they seem a bit useless.

Yes. However, the technological infrastructure remains where it is. If the trade where to fail, it wouldn't be long before your tech stopped working. Unless you trade that too.

A combination of both. The tiers are somewhat which exists solely for mechanics, not as part of the actual ingame reality. The various techlevels are for you to define.

There's no coordinated entity out there to invade you. Well, none that you know off. Rest assured, I won't be mean enough to dump a "Game Over fleet" on you without warning

Oh, I appear to have forgotten to clean that up. A lot of sectors have unexplored sectors around them. I should have fixed the picture now.

Could you make it so extra stations get progressively more expensive to maintain the more you have? Oh wait they're not what I thought they were

Maybe make it so they have a limit as well? Like, in total or something? 20 or so? And make it so they can be upgraded into higher tier stations given other types of resources? Or make them so that each one just upgrades a single planet in their sector into a new resource type that you can choose between base or upgraded (like a permanent automated factory that doesn't cost extra resources beyond the first investment)?

Also, you might wanna put a link to the IC in the OP, ebbor. Looks really nice so far, though.
You're probably getting around to it and I'm just antsy, but what does Stealth Ambush (and I guess the other people's technologies for tactics...:P) do?
And, uh, given the cost of Neural Link's upkeep, wouldn't it be actually cheaper not to have it, considering I"d have to spend 50 resources on ship construction each turn in order for it to return on it's cost? Read it again, realized which one was actually costing which amount of resource's, durrrSpeaking of which, I think I'm supposed to have 10 resources maintenance for Tier 5 and ten for Tier 4, rather than 20 for tier 4. I know you're busy and these games are hard to keep track of everything going on, not trying to get on your case or anything.

Well, some more questions:
1. Can we simply trade resources between players? Will we have to worry about piracy?
2. What does PU stand for? Population Units? Are they used to man ships?
3. What are the combat statistics of our existing vessels? Is there any way to refit/improve ships later if they were not built to the maximum capabilities for their tier?
EDIT - do we all possess shipbuilding capability? If so, is the tier of the created ship limited to the tier of the highest planet we control, or can we build anything we have the resources to build (if not necessarily maintain)?

If you can afford it, you can build it.

I'm pretty sure we choose our own ship stats and they aren't random or assigned, Ghazkull. :P
