For now, Quartus can watch a round. Get a feel for how betting works, and then, after that, test his luck.

Quartus attempts to enter the arena, but a Center Ring player stops him at the gate. "Hey buddy, there's a cover charge for access to the arena. 1 Gold to enter the stands, if you leave, you need to pay to reenter."

"Right. Uh... I'll come and help out then? It'd be a better job with two people, right? Is there a note function or something we can use to remember the prices?"

"Sure. And yeah, I think so. If not I have a decent memory."

Quartus hand over his entrance fee, but, before stepping in he looks at the Center Ring guy, and to wonder.

"In the fairness of continued business, any other charges I should know about? And how does betting work?"

"That's the last compulsory charge. Minimum bet on any fight is 10 gold. We try to arrange fights with close to even odds, and payout is 190% of your original bid, rounded down. Bookkeeper is down the right hall, can't miss them. If you wanna just watch the fight, fastest way to seating is straight forward, but I don't think there'll be a lot of empty seats there."

Quartus loses 1 gold.

"Alright. Uh... Let's get going then? No point standing around doing nothing?"

With that, he heads off and bets 50 gold on the guy who looks like he might be the faster of the two contestants.

"Yeah. We should look for other weapons while we're at it if that's fine with you."

Xoddahs grunted in annoyance at being questioned. "I can see the stats just fine and they'll work. Cheap and packs a punch, good enough. Brawls are inevitable, prepare." He understood the caution, but perfect scenarios never happen. That and after that taste of up-close-and-personal magic with that alpha wolf he's been hungry for more.

He accessed his inventory and showed the store owner the pelt. "So, how much for this then?" He'll accept the cost, taking the player at his word.

"So, Golden Buddah. How's that? Saw a caravan of 'em when we got here. Guild event?" The shaman struck up small talk as he inspected the stocks and his purchase more.
