No catgirls, that's for the sequel ;P

As for our numbers, I can guess that we can count on reinforcements coming to us as we establish a foothold and start getting things adapted.

Re: Tungsten rods, I'm happy to assume that we just don't have the infrastructure in our ship to reliably make and launch them at sufficient velocity from orbit.  The premise, after all, is that we're something like a handful of thousand trying to conquer seven billion, but we happen to have vastly superior tech to balance it out.

Numbers and resources aren't on our side, and that's cool.
That's the thing about RFG's. They don't need velocity. Literally drop them on a planet and the gravity will do all the work for you.

... so we can't just engineer a plague and send it at them?

No that would be dull.
Ebbor should just make us b space cat girl that need to steal men to take back to planet catgirl or some other shit, that way we can play and not argue about nukeing the planet from orbit.

How about orbital bombardment is just against our religion? Scorched earth tactics are abomination: we resort to them only after it's clear we have no chance of winning on the ground in a fair-ish fight? Some sort of proud-warrior-race aesthetic?

Yes that works and besides we can loot the planet much faster with the humans help than without it.
We want city's and roads along with lots of people to enslave.

They actually do need velocity. Or you need a ridiculous amount of them.

Assuming you dropped them from the edge of the Earth's gravitational field, they would have an impact speed of about 11 km/s. Which gives them a kinetic energy of about 60 000 000 Joules/kg. Which is roughly 10 % more than natural gas.

Not exactly a wunderwaffen.

Update tomorrow, btw.

Ha! Mutation virus gas that turns humans into zombies!

I vote we try to create a Gas-Blast-Shell-Katuko, a large shell that can be dropped from orbit to unleash some sort of poison gas on the planet's surface. We should also design a variety of gaseous payloads, including old-fashioned poison, nerve, biohazard, and zombie creation.

We don't know what poisons them yet. We can do that after we figure that out.

Well, one thing we do know is that they breathe oxygen(we should know that much, at least). Carbon dioxide bomb? Or basically, any gas that fills up the area.

But sure. First up, we need to abduct and experiment on 10 human beings to learn their poison/toxin tolerance and physical capabilities.

Carbon dioxide? they exhale that all the time, there now way that's going to kill them at any practicable rate.

Why bother with poisoning them when we can vaporize them with plasma/lasers/whatever?

Also, I think we need some robots/powered armor so we can ignore the fact that we can't breathe there. Unless we have that already.

Develop a smaller armed landing craft, uses a larger laser weapon for defense/offense and can glide over long distances with gliding high maneuverability surfaces.  Has a single soldier on board as a pilot.  It can land and return to space on it's own like the drop ship.  Up to four can attach to a drop ship during decent (not accent) and detach in the atmosphere to swarm enemies.

Designed in a supporting role to protect our drop ship.

Alter the laser lenses to be made of a tough, regenerative organic material which have acidic tears to dissolve and wash away debris that forms on them.

poison is less noticeable. Besides, they can explain away poison gas-they can't explain away plasma bolts from outer space.

Dangit, why must we be so flashy?
