"Well we were going to keep Eneas out of reach of Sanctuary anyway so this surely counts. It's just that we will never return home, and that's not the part of the plan."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"I know that, but it rankles. I was wanting to have an adventure and see new lands, not end up stuck on an island with people who want to kill us just because we're different."

[Haspen]

"Stuck with people who want to kill us just because we're different? Why, you could say that sounds just like our Sanctuarian friends! Ha ha ha." Andala, now far from immediate danger, was in a bit-too-happy mood.

[SeriousConcentrate]

"Well, yes, but at least back there we had our own country and military so people didn't always have to worry about them. Here we're pretty much on our own."

[Haspen]

"A good point." And so Andala rewarded the doggie with a scritch on left ear.

[Tiruin]

It was quite a while since Elysia passed her tome into the weapons pile, and quite a while since she gave way to listening than speaking. She was intrigued in courtly politics--this was something she never got to see as a soldier scholar.

"We're not really alone. I don't think there are people without the qualities you'd like out there. I mean, people define the country right?"

[SeriousConcentrate]

All of Valerie's protesting went right out the window when scritches came into play, and she leaned in to Andala's hand while making idle scratching motions with her own left hand.

[Haspen]

Andala stopped the scritches and looked at Valerie.

"I must remember to never let you go on any important or secret quest or negotiations alone. One single ear-rub from a dashing your man or someone like that and you gonna doom us all." But one more ear-rub wouldn't hurt, so Andala did rub the ear. Then she turned to the side.

"Elysia, right? Were you speaking to us?"

[Tiruin]

"A-ah, just giving side commentary here. I don't know who to stick with since everyone else seems busy. And I wanted to-well, know more. Sorry if I butted in."

Elysia made a mental note to notice when people were making conversations.

[SeriousConcentrate]

"Awww...."

Scritches never lasted long enough, but she did appreciate them whenever they came her way. She gave Andala a friendly scritch behind her own ear in return, though she knew humans didn't like them as much.

[Haspen]

"Well I think it's mostly because you seem detached or absent most of the time." She looked at Valerie with a smirk at the counter-earrub. "Are you feeling well? Tell nurse Andala all your problems, Elysia."

[Tiruin]

"I happened to overhear Val's words there and they hooked me in. It's my first time on the field and there's so much to learn so I choose to keep quiet and take in the sights. I'm not used to talking a lot." I don't know how to start a topic.

[Haspen]

"Just make sure that you don't space out when the situation is dire! You're a credit to the team. Well like most of the team. Except maybe that boy, Peter."

[Tiruin]

"A credit who is bad with names. I only thoroughly memorized Aenbarr's name. The rest make me awkward knowing who is who. I can easily memorize faces though! It gets easier the more I work with others, and I'd love to stick with you and the rest.

Elysia gave Valerie another scritchie, adding a whisper of "The shorter the ears, the less sensitive to those things the person is." for her thoughts.

[Haspen]

Andala nodded and then scritched Valerie on the other ear.
