Valerie proceeded to lean in toward Elysia and completely miss what she said over her own mumbling.

"Yes, yes, right there. Oh, that's good."

Her heel tapped the ground rapidly as Andala started scritching the other ear, and unable to lean in both directions at once settled on merely woofing quietly.

When the last of the mercenaries eventually slipped on their rings and deposited their weapons into the chest the prince lead the group throughout the doors into the throne room. It was a spacious hall, more than large enough for the monstrous hawks the group had seen earlier to maneuver with little difficulty. The hall was not empty, however, for in the center of the room stood a white-haired woman with ears atop her head, much like Isaac and Valerie. The prince motioned for the group to wait by her before he himself continued to approach the king. After what looked like a brief conversation the prince exited through a door to the right. Surprisingly, the king's tone was rather relaxed as he began to speak.

"My son has told me that you spared my subjects when you could have just as easily have killed them. For that, you have my thanks. As if a switch had been flipped, the king's tone became commanding, his relaxed tone seeming to have never existed. Now! As is the law, tell me about yourselves, your reasons to have come here, and most importantly how you managed to come here."

"I am Andala. These are my friends and companions. We're fetching this young boy from the continent to the northwest to the continent in the east. We got this far through the sea because of a magical writ. We ended here by accident because a storm damaged our ship. We also wish to bury a man who died during the storm, too."

"It is as she has said." Eneas spoke, clutching his oversized robe to his chest. "I am the boy whom Andala speaks of; the one called Eneas Domini of the Sanctuary."

Cyryl Albertas Newell. I'm a soldier in service of the people of Pasive." Cyryl's posture and tone seemed polite. There was, however, a slight edge to both. A suggestion of discontent or anger.

"Aenbarr Creidhne Mawr, a craftstarvos, your Majesty. What Andala said is a fair summary of our diplomatic mission; hopefully preventing conflict by keeping Eneas away from the continent we hail from is our objective and the storm had us crashing here, where we intended to bury one of us who died at the sea." To his credit, Aenbarr managed to maintain a neutral and diplomatic tone, not too interested in antagonizing the king of the place they might be forced to stay for no one knows how long.

"Could you guys also make a hamburger out of this arm when they cut it off? I wanted to eat it just for the sake of tasting it."
>That is horrible and disgusting. It will no doubt set you apart and create fear in your team mates. So of course.

The king took a moment to answer, trying to process what he'd just been told. When at last he spoke he only had more questions.

"And what would you do now that you are here? It sounds as though your magic failed you part way through your journey. I can, of course, grant you citizenship, however..." the king trailed off, offering the group a chance to answer before continuing. Rydell accepted before anyone else could, stepping forward passed the white haired woman.

"I'd like to think I speak for most, if not all, of us when I say that we want to be on our way as soon as possible. This wasn't meant to be a permanent trip, merely a stalling tactic, and perhaps a bit of an adventure for a short year. If you have any information that could help fix our curse repellant, I'd like to know about it. Consider it our compensation for earlier."

The king paused and thought. Thought about the fact that Rydell was basically demanding something from him, the king, but also about what his son had recommended to him just moments before and what it could mean for his people.

"...Our Arch Sage may know something; however, he would need to see the vessel that housed the magic before he could do anything else."

Rydell looked slightly annoyed, as usual.

"Fine. Let us return to our ship and we will bring back the orb after we bury our comrade."

"There is no need, the Arch Sage will accompany you." A stern glare appeared on his face as he adressed the white haired woman. "And so will you, Nantale."

-----------------------

The group had been given their weapons back upon leaving the throne room and the monsters had been instructed to remove and return their rings. The twin maids led them through the castle to the entrance where a pale man in blue robes awaited them. It looked like the last thing he wanted was to be here right now but had silently accepted his fate. He sighed as he fell into line behind the maids. The trip back was the same as before, with the exception of the townsfolk not trying to meld into the walls as the group passed by.

When they neared the boat the maids wisely let Rydell lead the group, for no sooner than they had they stepped onto to the beach did they see Jack and his men armed with whatever weapons they had managed to find. Even Peter was holding a sharpened mop handle.

"Aye, there ya are Rydell. We just finished preparing ta go after you lot after we seen ya being led away."

"Where's the vessel?" the Arch Sage finally spoke and, as expected, had gotten right to the point.

"Who's this weirdo?"

"I'll explain it on the ship. Meanwhile tell your men to lower their weapons."

Rydell sighed and motioned for the Arch Sage and Jack to follow him onboard. As Jack boarded his ship after the Arch Sage he called out to his men.

"Aye you heard him lads, no blood today."

This left everyone else with nothing to do but kill time until either Rydell or Jack returned. Unless they wanted to bury Gareth without them, anyway.

Nantale had appeared somewhat repentant when she had been in the throne room, but as soon as they left, her face dropped into a scowl.

"Babysitting duty. Lovely."

When they eventually reached the ship, she smirked slightly seeing the "rescue" party and yawned in an exaggerated manner before leaning up against one of the trees near the shoreline.

"Well this should just be lovely fun."

"Don't get so excited, you'll pull a muscle." Cyryl was somehow still in a bad mood, despite the fact that  everything had gone smoothly since the group had surrendered.

Cyryl snorted. Word choice! "Why fair lady, are you trying to tell me that I excite you? But we've only just met!" Cyryl put his hands on his cheeks in a show of mock embarassment.
