The king took a moment to answer, trying to process what he'd just been told. When at last he spoke he only had more questions.
"And what would you do now that you are here? It sounds as though your magic failed you part way through your journey. I can, of course, grant you citizenship, however..." the king trailed off, offering the group a chance to answer before continuing. Rydell accepted before anyone else could, stepping forward passed the white haired woman.
"I'd like to think I speak for most, if not all, of us when I say that we want to be on our way as soon as possible. This wasn't meant to be a permanent trip, merely a stalling tactic, and perhaps a bit of an adventure for a short year. If you have any information that could help fix our curse repellant, I'd like to know about it. Consider it our compensation for earlier."The king paused and thought. Thought about the fact that Rydell was basically demanding something from him, the king, but also about what his son had recommended to him just moments before and what it could mean for his people.
"...Our Arch Sage may know something; however, he would need to see the vessel that housed the magic before he could do anything else."Rydell looked slightly annoyed, as usual.
"Fine. Let us return to our ship and we will bring back the orb after we bury our comrade.""There is no need, the Arch Sage will accompany you." A stern glare appeared on his face as he adressed the white haired woman.
"And so will you, Nantale."-----------------------
The group had been given their weapons back upon leaving the throne room and the monsters had been instructed to remove and return their rings. The twin maids led them through the castle to the entrance where a pale man in blue robes awaited them. It looked like the last thing he wanted was to be here right now but had silently accepted his fate. He sighed as he fell into line behind the maids. The trip back was the same as before, with the exception of the townsfolk not trying to meld into the walls as the group passed by.
When they neared the boat the maids wisely let Rydell lead the group, for no sooner than they had they stepped onto to the beach did they see Jack and his men armed with whatever weapons they had managed to find. Even Peter was holding a sharpened mop handle.
"Aye, there ya are Rydell. We just finished preparing ta go after you lot after we seen ya being led away.""Where's the vessel?" the Arch Sage finally spoke and, as expected, had gotten right to the point.
"Who's this weirdo?""I'll explain it on the ship. Meanwhile tell your men to lower their weapons."Rydell sighed and motioned for the Arch Sage and Jack to follow him onboard. As Jack boarded his ship after the Arch Sage he called out to his men.
"Aye you heard him lads, no blood today."This left everyone else with nothing to do but kill time until either Rydell or Jack returned. Unless they wanted to bury Gareth without them, anyway.
