Pasco's attention was suddenly grabbed.
:"Wait a second. They have the same story over on this side of the ocean?"

[F.O.E.]

"Well is there someone who does know? Your captain must, it's his ship afterall. Which one of you is the captain?"

"He doesn't know either," Rydell spoke up. "It might be his ship, but he was just a pawn. We killed his masters; everyone who could've known are feeding the crows back in Pasive."

The Prince frowned.

"Most unfortunate then."

With all of the attention now on Rydell, one of the maids turned to Valerie to actually answer her question.

"As you might have guessed, we suffer from the same plight as you. If I were to hazard a guess, you will need the use of that spell to leave this island."

One of the guards answered Pasco, from his voice he was clearly up there in his years.

"A long time ago a ship crashed here, had a whole bunch of those books on it."

[SeriousConcentrate]

"Oh. I see. Maybe we should find a way to recreate that spell so we can go home one day. Not that there's anything wrong with your home, I just want to see my sister and brothers again someday."

[Haspen]

"Books~! And to think that in my rush I forgot to pack some with me onto the ship. As for the characters, clearly Tomik and Laura were meant to be battle partners but oh well. Not enough cast survived the ending for that to happen."

"Who was Clare Redwing though? I don't remember her."

[F.O.E.]

"But how? None of you know the slightest thing about it. It would take incredible luck on our part or divine intervention."

"Aye," the first guard agreed. "But what about that plot twist after the ruins though? I feel the story really took off after that."

"Oh, but how could you forget her? Her interactions were short, but they always managed to convey everything in so few words. Though after their tumble in the ruins she decided she'd had enough and left to return to the life of a carrier."

[Haspen]

"Oh that one. She just didn't have enough-"

"When did that ship with the books crash again?"

[GiglameshDespair]

Larini was lsot at the conversation.
"Umm... what are books? Can you eat them?"

[Haspen]

"You take skins of many slain sheep and then cure and prepare them till they are thin and you can then write on them, then you bind them with mixture of boiled water and bone powder and a length of string. Voila, a book is ready to be filled with words."

[GiglameshDespair]

"They don't sound very tasty. Skin is all chewy. How can you cure them, though? They're not sick, they're dead."

[Haspen]

"It's a figure of speech. You clean them of all fat and meaty bits so it doesn't carry disease with the rotting parts."

"And dry it of course. But saying all that takes way too long."

[GiglameshDespair]

"This spider doesn't see how skin can tell stories."

"People draw letters on the skins and if you know how then you can read them as words."

: "In the Sanctuary, we do not have enough beasts for large quantities of parchment. So we have to use pulp wood. It's longer, more arduous process and we've yet to find a way to mass produce the material. Only a few books get made because of it, making what books we do have all the more important."

"I guess we're just stuck here, then?"
