1. Put Ned's face on the punching bag.
2. Discourage our slime from eating our monsters. Ned's, however...
Oh, and +1, but instead of the punching bag, get something non-vital like a empty sack or something.

What should we name our guys?

I feel naming should be put off until we got a good feel for the creature's trait sets.
We don't wanna name our slime 'Spikey' and realise later that he compresses and hardens when frightened, do we?
Alright, lets get the groundwork out, first, we're going to need (based on the fact we have a produce creature and a workload creature only) A Slime machine, an alchemy cauldron and a barrier.
I assume the nest has a tree, for our plump helmet, right?

I agree, we really should figure out our monster's personality types before naming them. How are new monsters acquired in this?

Yup. Whenever a monster comes to the nest, he makes his own little spot and puts whatever he wants there. The plump-helmet man just planted a sapling, for example. (For food purposes, he has deadwood in the food storage.)

How are new monsters acquired in this?

You can trade with monster breeders (you only know Ned, right now), or you can buy them in monthly monster-meets or the Annual Monster-con.

You buy them in monthly monster-meets, and each time is different, but usually similar. To give an example: 5 coins is a kilogram of food for a monster. (I'll change the units for everything next update. I'll use kilograms instead of well-stocked.)

I guess new structures are also aquired through the annual monster-cons?
Anyway, Lets meet and greet our monsters, spend most of Dawn trying to figure out their traits, what do they like specifically, if it takes a long time, spend Dawn on figuring out the slime, and noon figuring out the plump helmet.
After that has finished, if it only took one section of the day, spend noon on teaching the slime some basics of what is food and what is not food, this teaching session will basically sort things into food:Anything smaller than you that tastes good and isn't moving unless told otherwise and not food: Plump Helmet, Me, and Slime.
Do the same at dusk if learning about the monsters took two sections.
Finally, at evening, look around town (if we have one), see what kind of shops and stores there are.

Quickedit: Another question, what level of rivalry are we at with Ned? Is it friendly rivalry or at-eachothers-necks boiling hatred rivalry?

Make sure that Slime knows that Ned and his monsters are the tastiest of foods and that Slime will get extra food if he eats them.

I believe it is best not to anger our rival the second we just got our monsters.

That comes when we overtake him in Monster Breeder prowess and rub it in his face.

I was thinking of having that, but -1 for now, I feel morose would look down on us indirectly getting an innocent slime to kill our rival.
Plus Ned has a gobbo which I bet will be protecting him and I don't want to lose our Slime here.

Firstly, I think the schedule should be changed to a nocturnal one, Since for the plump helmet man, "They're most active at night, and when they start working, they don't stop until daylight!" Seems like Having to adjust his activity schedule to a day cycle would stress the poor fellow out, while our other monster seems to have no preference for day or night.

Dawn: Playtime
Noon: Feeding
Dusk: Training.
Evening: Working

Huh, good point. I was just thinking about how the little fellow seems so eager to work, at dawn no less. +1 to that.
