Just someone made to follow orders, and who does so without question. Naturally, having been actively abandoned or whatever, being around so many normal people will cause some angsty emotional crap or whatever, but I want to try out the idea.

If you wanted to you could play it to the extreme and act as a minor antagonist to the players, doing really inhumane and immoral stuff in order to complete any task it was given. Make it strong, though, because players will probably attack it.

I'm not entirely certain that the party would attack another PC for doing something horrendous. Shunning/kicking them out of the group seems much more likely to me, which kinda defeats the entire point. Why make a character if you won't get to play them for very long? Though if you wanted to set up a villain for future plots that would be an interesting method to do so. It gives everyone a connection to them and some motivation to fight them beyond them being evil.

No, no. I mean, they follow orders as closely as possible. Which does not instantly mean horrendous unless commander is horrendous. Also, rather ineffective in a fight because reflexive obedience. Enemy can just tell you to halt and exploit the resulting hesitation.
