Kruniac, you aren't exactly sounding helpful or anything. You're sounding like someone who expects it to not be what you want and didn't bother to look at any news about it anyways, so that you can complain it is not UFO Defence in 3d.

1: I didn't look at any news so I would be surprised.

2: I don't care if it's UFO Defense in 3d.

3: I just heard it has the same shit classes from the first. Sigh. That's not how you make a squad-based tactical game.

Literally getting a play-by-play from my friend who is playing right now. Atmosphere is badass, seems like an upgraded EU (Which is the worst thing you could say), classes are shit, load times are a little long.

Meanwhile, rage posts continue about performance, and flame wars ensue about whether it's "right" to complain about a game that just came out. Not getting involved in that war.

Just heard it has more of a Syndicate feel to it than XCOM. Definitely interested now. ^.^

Syndicate was... well. It's not the same. Real time hilarity and whatnot. The only thing that would be the same I'd say is the nature of upgrades and mods to soldiers. Also dystopian future. (I just realized that you might be talking about the new supposedly crappy Syndicate reboot. I have no idea about that but only the super awesome old version, so carry on)

My only gripe is that instead of making the AI super smarter and all that to increase difficulty they just start doubling the amount of enemy hp bars and there's a timer on just about every early mission that punishes you for playing the game tactically.

"Here, rush in and ultimately put some of the squad at the mercy of RNG because you want to get to the objective in time" is not the original tactical XCOM, which is why you might hear complaining. It instead feels like a gamble like trying to S-Rank old advance wars or Fire Emblem missions where you rush some of your units forward and hope RNGesus makes your enemies miss or not crit so you can finish the mission in time.

That's my current feeling on the gameplay, but it's still fun. It's just definitely not old tactical X-COM.

And if anyone's wondering, I tested the game in Classic and "FUCK YOU" mode.

Engaging Kruniac ignore system. Loading... 5%... 34%... 76%... 100%. Kruniac now fully ignored. Proceed with enjoyment.

I might actually be making a come-back from an almost squad-wipe. Tense game is tense, yo.

Also, yeah, not a huge fan of timers in missions, but that's a personal preference. It certainly fits with the theme of get in, blow/hack/kill stuff up, get out. And fast, before the reinforcements get there.

In fact, that's how I got my squad almost wiped. Enjoying the tension though.

EDIT: Anyhow there's supposedly Xenonauts 2 and UFO to fill that void so I'm not too worried about a lack of classic X-COM experience.

I'd say if she's important to you, you choose to be there for her, and own that choice as your own so you don't harbour resentment towards her.

I just don't understand where people would've gotten the idea this would ever be old tactical X-COM though. There's Xenonauts and future-Xenonauts 2 for that.


Also, load times for me aren't bad at all. I mean, I just alt-tab away (#borderlesslife) and it's usually over in a jiffy!


Edit for great importance: the T and G keys are amazing. They zoom in and out. My mind is blown.

Probably due to them using the name XCOM :P

I kid I kid, that's why the devs went with XCOM instead of of X-COM: the rebootening
