I have my first ever drowning chamber, though I'm still waiting for a proper caravan to test it on. I've also just suffered the death of my only jeweler(not that I needed her so far with the complete lack of gems I've found...) due to thirst. Somehow she got trapped inside her jeweler's workshop after building it(something which shouldn't have happened since there were two different access points to it) and died. Still trying to figure out how that happened.

I just cleared 3 simultaneous sieges. First, the humans sieged, perhaps their envoy got killed by some siegers or ambushers i didn't notice. After my marks dwarves and melee dwarves tore through them, the goblins showed up. They got savaged by my troops again. And here I was, thinking only about cleanup, getting all the bone into the stockpiles for bone bolts, meltable armour to forges, weaponry to melt or use in weapon traps....and a THIRD siege shows up. An orc siege. A big one, since my fort is ridiculously wealthy. Immediately the orders are changed from soldiers outside only, to all dwarves inside. Nevertheless, I lose 2 champions death charging them, and one third of my marksdwarves to orc bowmen firing through the fortifications. Thankfully, Although I have no drowning trap, I have an airlock and have removed Trapavoid from the orcs. Lure, slaughter, repeat until they go away.

So I just got this message:
"The Dragon Bestra Taxedjewels the Diamonds of Treasure has come!"
So I pull all my guys inside and start mounting my defenses.
A few seconds later I get these messages:
"Ustsigun has been made a barony.  The tax collector has arrived.  The Hammerer has arrived.  The Baroness has arrived."

The next few minutes should be interesting...

My ice-making industry is back up and running. I've lost power to it because I needed the wood the windmills are made from for a mood I didn't want failed. And since I'm playing on a map completely void of trees, I rely on the kindness of strangers for my seasonally wood. Now I can continue building my igloo.

Somehow she got trapped inside her jeweler's workshop after building it(something which shouldn't have happened since there were two different access points to it) and died. Still trying to figure out how that happened.
Some workshop tiles are impassable. They are marked with a dark green X when building said workshop, likewise, passable tiles are light green X's.

They brought archers, and the idiots didnt put on the platemail i told them to. Also this was the third siege of the same season, which was the surprising part.

Ugh... archers.

A really talented champion will dodge everything shot at him when he's facing the shooter. When he isn't...

At least that whole system is revised in the new version.

Well a goblin seige arrived, it came with 3 groups of about 20 goblins armed to the teeth. I ordered my champions to guard the front gate very closely, all 3 groups of gobos started on there way to my gate creeping....very...very slowly (m FPS is in the toilett so that didnt help much either) the gobos were about to hit my blade traps when..........they stopped?? i just decided to keep a close eye on them for a bit. I got a bit tired so i went to check out my death pit im constructing, when i recieved a message that one of my farmers was struck down, i go to the entrance and sure enough there are about 45 gobos flodding a forgotten entrance i made a whileback (forgot to wall it off) my champions were sitten about 9 tiles away with there thumbs up there asses not noticing a thing. I lost about 35 dwarfs that day, well......56 including tantrums, deppression, berserk so on.h

I needed work for dorfs to do, so I ordered the contents of the obsidian farm to be hauled to a layer of floored-over pit, then cracked the magma pipe open to flood it again.
Once the top level drains, I'll be able to sort out my first noble-killer and recover the space.

I'm also hollowing out around the top pipe level, to provide more forge space.

I decided to start a simple fort. The theme for this one would be farming, fishing, and hunting. As I wanted things to be a little interesting, I decided to bring an anvil and raw ore instead of tools as I've done a few times before. So I bring some copper ore and some tin bars so I can make them out of Bronze.

There was only one small problem:
Cassiterite is an ore of Tin NOT copper.

No big deal, I can recover from that right? So I get the herbalism, fishing, and hunting going. I get some decent farmable plants together and get busy cleaning fish. However, before I could figure out why the hunter wasn't bring his deer corpses back to the butcher he got himself murdered by a wolf. At that point I did the responsible thing and had the entire exposition collect wild berries and waited for the caravan. The crew was starting to get unhappy with the lack of chairs and beds and all so I made something of a lean-to out of tin bars and charcoal to put a single table and chair under. Then I took all the leather I brought with me and made leather crafts to trade.

The caravan got attacked by a bear and left.

Fortunately the bear took out one of the wagons before they got him. So now I had one bar of bronze and one bar of bismuth bronze. Finally I had an axe and a pick. So I start doing a little digging and a lot of deforesting.

While trying to haul wood to the stockpile the farmer fell through some melting ice and drown in a small pool.

I can't wait till the gobbos show up and cut down my awesome wall-less defense consisting of a few infantile bovine and sober naked dwarfs. (We ate the dogs, cooked the booze, and crafted the leather).

This fort is awesome.

Sounds like fun!  :D

This season, a goblin siege of 18 menaced my fort. This sounds like it should have been lots of fun, but they were driven away by a single dwarf, the champion Thikut Inkfocused, whose exploits earned him the nickname "the Infamous Morning" and immortality in the walls of Sirab Zanor.  :o

Puh, this could not have played out less interestingly.  The dragon made a bee-line for a window, broke in, scared some children, and was taken down by wrestlers.  Wrestlers!  No casualties.  The nobles waltzed in the front gate and started making mandates.  No dragon covered with the blood of nobles.  No peasants running around on fire.  Total disappointment.
